Last announcements of the year!!!!! :O

If you have not yet already done so, please post to December's Activity Check! (If you've resolved to drop a character, please do us a favour and let us know here or in the Dropbox so we're not awkwardly emailing you later to be like "hey... what's up...")

January's plot calendar will be posted on Saturday, December 31 at 10 AM Mountain Time. (If you need help figuring out when that will be for you, take a look at the green indicator here.) We've learned our lesson from December, so there will be less IC/OOC's, but hopefully characters will be able to devote proper focus to the ones which are coming up. Three words: Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Character Name: Diego Morales
Plans For Next Year: Uhhhhh Diego/Ravi's gonna happen.
Alternate PB: Diego was made specifically so I could use Alberto Rosende because he's so cute. BUT if I was forced to change his PB, I'd pick... a young Gael García Bernal maybe??? IGNORE THAT HE'S ALREADY MR. C-B, THIS WAS REALLY HARD TO CHOOSE.
How would that have changed them?: He'd be a lot more on the moody artist side. More serious and careful. He'd probably deal with his anxiety by acting shy versus putting on a show. Still sensitive and silly and lacking any and all good judgement, though.

Character Name: Rafael Ramirez
Plans For Next Year: I need to do another overbearing rules post some day.
Alternate PB: A different incarnation of Rafael was PBed by a very young Rami Malek from an awful sitcom with awful sitcom lighting. I swear I'm not going to pick baby versions of teachers for all my alt PBs.
How would that have changed them?: Oh my god he'd be so much softer. Much more open and warm, easier to get to know. Less angry and guarded, a lot more vulnerable. Oddly enough, the Rami Malek version also got romantically involved with a very competitive Beater???

Plans For Next Year: Uh god, be more active? Mina is never going to be my most active character but I'd like to start pushing her to... make friends? lmao
Alternate PB: Ellen Wong was the first PB I liked, but I did go through basically every single directory with an asian girl PB because I was torn on her (she's playing a high school student but the actress is 30 in these icons). For various reasons, I really really wanted an Asian-American or Asian-Canadian actress, and Ellen Wong's facial expressions were too hilarious for me to pass up. But I aaaalmost went with Jessika Van.
How would that have changed them?: Jessika Van would've resulted in a Mina who smiled a lot more and tried to fake charm/pleasantness, but I ended favouring a Mina who just... has a terrible temper and is constantly complaining and does not bother to charm people at all.

Plans For Next Year: He's going to be focusing even more on Quidditch and working hard to get scouted by a professional team. His #1 choice is ANQ and his #2 is whatever made up California team there is.
Alternate PB:
Was there another PB you almost used?: I considered Ashton Moio for a brief moment, but he looked too nice. I was browsing pbads and saw someone using what looked like Young Brendon Urie and I clicked and it was Dan Howell and he had all the aesthetics I was looking for in my concept. (Back before Gooseberry, I joked that the modern day version of his previous incarnation would be a space-themed hipster who listened to vaporwave and his tumblr was full of shitposts and SJW culture)

Or a PB for a different incarnation of the character?: Jake Hold was the PB of Levi's first incarnation! That's where a lot of his body mod inspo comes from.

Or if you had to pick another PB for them, who would it be?: I HAVE NO IDEA, but I'd use Brendon Urie for older!Levi just for laughs. Even though Dan Howell is only four/five years younger... And that's not much of a difference in PBland.

How would that have changed them?: I HAVE NO IDEA BC I WASN'T SOLD ON ANY OTHER PBS, AND I JUST WANT TO TALK ABOUT LEVI'S PREVIOUS INCARNATION.

Levi's first incarnation was Bilius Weasley (

biliusw), the alcoholic Weasley uncle who died after seeing the Grim. Levi's eldest brother having a million kids was a nod to Arthur Weasley. When I joined the game, I was going to have him follow down the same destructive path as his previous incarnation: fantastic Quidditch player, gave up his spot in professional Quid to join a band because he misinterpreted a prediction that said he was destined for greatness (and wanted to play with his friends), worked in a bar to make ends meet after their band failed, caved to alcoholism and depression, jumped into unhealthy relationships to fill a void, stole his partner's tiny dog after their breakup, etc.

But Levi ended up on a way better life path than Bilius because he has positive influences and motivation to do better, and he's not invested in the band he's playing in that would cause him to stray from his Quidditch goals. Also, there's not a Wizarding War going on that's killing people he loves, and there's no very real threat of death and genocide. SO I GUESS LEVI GETS THE "GOOD ENDING" ROUTE??

Character Name: Rosemary Stoker
Plans For Next Year: Every time I try to make plans for Rosy she changes them. My only plan is for her to be angry a lot. But what’s new about that.
Alternate PB: I had a list of about 5 that I was trying to choose from, and the second place one was probably María Gabriela de Faría.
How would that have changed them?: Rosy’s PB hunt was the most involved. I spent, like, four days on this. Because I really just wanted someone with thick ass eyebrows. Maria seems more feminine than Nicole, I think? And more delicate. I think she would have been quieter, less likely to fall prey to bad influences, and not as angry. Like super not as angry. Which is so not as much fun, why would you play a chill Stoker??? She does seem taller, though. She could have taken after the Stoker side more. Maybe that’s the real reason she’s so angry.

Character Name: Robin Youngblood
Plans For Next Year: Robin is getting glasses. He’s 18, he can go to the fucking eye doctor if he wants fuck you Dad. He will spend probably an entire day marveling over all the things he can see now because he’s actually kinda pretty nearsighted.
Alternate PB: Norman Reedus is who I’ve used for his adult incarnation for like…however long I’ve been RPing idk.
How would that have changed them?: Norman Reedus drinks and smokes a lot, and I don’t think he’s showered or cut his hair in like…a decade. Like his icons were at least a decade old because I couldn’t stand looking at new pictures of him. So he's a chainsmoking, problem drinking Auror who is obsessively focused on work and dumb nerd shit. He still respects no one. He's still an asshole. I love him.

Character Name: Addy Foster-Hayes
Plans For Next Year: Lol, idk. I guess I could finally name her npc bf? THAT'D BE GOOD.
Alternate PB: Juno Temple is the only human on the planet who actually has the hair I want for Addy, but Ashley Benson comes close in exactly one season of Pretty Little Liars and has so many more available icons and gifs so that's who I went with.
How would that have changed them?: SHE WOULD'VE BEEN SO MUCH WEIRDER. Like Addy now at least gets to inhabit this Hot Girl persona a little, until she opens her mouth. If she was Juno she would be much more disorganized and messy and probably a little more sly and rude.

Plans For Next Year: ??????????? Play him more I guess?
Alternate PB: Matthew Beard was the runner up, but I wasn't completely sold on him. Once Marin suggested Ezra Miller it was over.
How would that have changed them?: He would have been a lot more emotive, for one. More awkward and self-conscious, but also a lot better at communicating. He also would probably have a harder time with how weird he is, because he wouldn't benefit from how gorgeous Ezra Miller is even when he's looking creepy.

Character Name: Ursula de Luca
Plans For Next Year: Gosh idk. She's heavily influenced by who she surrounds herself with... which used to be lots of sweet Ribbonfins and Reid. But now that there's a properly established mean girls clique, she may start waffling more between naughty and nice.
Alternate PB: I picked Chelsea Clark before ever picking a name off the cast list (or knowing if icons existed), but the other PB I had considered at the time was Jessica Sula and her beautiful hair in Recovery Road. ...And then I did pick a name I liked and just did some silly family history stuff to make the name work with the PB.
How would that have changed them?: I don't think Ursula would be Ursula with a different PB. BUT assuming she actually did get the same basic concept.. she'd definitely be way less stilted and prissy princess and put together. Probably warmer and actually halfway decent at developing close relationships.

Plans For Next Year: Pretty sure there will eventually either be an explosion or Trixie and Robin will figure out they wanna touch butts.
Alternate PB: Oh yeah. Totally. She used to be Chloe Dykstra. Older Trixie would BE Chloe.
How would that have changed them?: Chloe version was a lot more reckless as in she had a flying motorcycle, would just go out and spend all of her money on action figures. She was a horrible rebellious Auror with Alex's other Robin. She drank and smoked a ton and wasn't allergic to anything.

Character Name: Sylvester Stoker
Plans For Next Year: WIN A QUIDDITCH GAME???? Undecided on how much I actually want him to sort out his various anger/trust issues. I'm going to guess... very little.
Alternate PB: Sean Teale was my first and only choice, I think—I had him on my list of potential PBs for awhile. But I first wrote up Sy's character concept ten years ago, and his PB back then was Brendan Fehr, which I chose mostly because he looked similar to his twin sister, who was already being played. I did consider Brendan Fehr again, just for kicks, but I didn't want to play any bland white boys, lol.
How would that have changed them?: IF YOU THOUGHT SY'S HAIR IS BAD NOW, YOU'VE NEVER SEEN BRENDAN FEHR IN ROSWELL. But fuck that dude, so I'll just talk about Sean Teale and how he basically set the tone for Sy, with looking like this angry aggressive asshole but also making funny smug faces and funny cranky faces.

Plans For Next Year: Will she pass her college auditions? Will she finally manage to stick up for herself like a grown up? Will she patch things up with Anuhea or Diego? WILL SHE AND DIEGO EVER GET IT TOGETHER? Who the hell knows!
Alternate PB: I always intended to use Kristen as Tabitha as I've used her before (she is so cute). However, some of you may remember Lydia Urqhart from Something Wicked, who is definitely more of an Azurcrest than Tabs, but who is probably the most similar character of late.
How would that have changed them?: She would have been way more of a boss, more confident, but also more subtle when it came to showing feelings.

Character Name: Ivy Templeton
Plans For Next Year: GET IT TOGETHER. 2013 was her year-long meltdown she's gotta get back ON TRACK. Amidst various family arguments, she told her parents she's applying to art school over winter break and they were Not Happy. But not spite dictates that she must follow through.
Alternate PB: WELL Kay and I decided that we wanted the twins to be identical, and I love Freya Mavor, so that all worked out! I especially can't imagine Laurel with a different face so it's a little hard for me to think about Ivy with a different face by extension. When I was very briefly considering options for her as a fraternal twin Imogen Poots was the frontrunner.
How would that have changed them?: She would've been... COOLER, I GUESS? Imogen Poots looks really laid back to me so I think Ivy probably would've been less stressed out in general. Less high-strung, even more of a peacekeeper/mediator than she already is, possibly a stoner also. Which is clearly the lynchpin of Ivy's character. if she'd just smoke weed she'd be way less of a basketcase

Plans For Next Year: I've actually got little new planned for him, apart from the larger arc of showing why he wants to be an Auror and discovering what pansexuality may mean for him in practice.
Alternate PB: When I saw that Lucas was on the PB list, I had to use him. I've used him before for different kiddos and enjoy his faces! I would probably have gone for H&A era Luke Mitchell otherwise.
How would that have changed them?: He would probably have been more of a himbo, though overall with the same career goals. There are lots of pics of him surfing so I think he would have been more outdoorsy.

Character Name: Will Chase
Plans For Next Year: He's going to try and ask Frankie out properly instead of just as a dance date, but he's getting there! He's possibly going to think more about what the hell he wants to do after school, and when it gets sunnier, organise a football tournament (this is ooh you guys, I'm not using the s word unless I HAVE TO! XD)
Alternate PB: Again, after browsing the suggested list I was fairly set on August Roads. THAT FACE. However, the most similar character I've had in the past was played by a bb Hunter Parrish.
How would that have changed them?: Given the icon sets I used at the time, he would definitely have been more wide eyed and innocent, and probably a lot less dark.

Plans For Next Year: Snapping and going kinda cray. I'm serious. Like -- workably cray, not dangerous or anything, but her stress levels are going to max out & she's gonna BREAK. :)
Alternate PB: I was pretty much set on Emily Browning like... the whole time. :s I vaguely thought about Ellen Page, though?
How would that have changed them?: Maybe a little more outgoing and less robot-y?? Slightly more asexual for some reason? Less arty?

Plans For Next Year: I literally have no idea right now, but I'd like her to be more exciting in her choices and perhaps develop her friendships more?
Alternate PB: For a hot minute I did debate using bb!Hollyoaks!Emma Rigby (fun fact, I used to use her for school age Hannah Abbott) but then I saw Cristine (again, on the suggested PB list!) and Jo started to pop into my head almost fully formed.
How would that have changed them?: She would have been an awful lot less Italian-American and an awful lot more fluffy, for a start!

Character Name: Clem Decourt
Plans For Next Year: GROW UP A LITTLE? Her parents are having a new baby in February and she's low-key stressed about that because she was an ACCIDENTAL KID and she feels like she's getting replaced. So that'll probably just expound her emotional issues.
Alternate PB: YES. Hailee Steinfeld. I was actually really torn on which one to use. And since Kas and I tried to hold Amanda at like the exact same time, we got thisclose to Clem being Hailee and by extension Quinn being Amanda. And I really cannot imagine Quinn as not-Tatiana. An earlier version of the character I played had Lily Collins as a pb but I found her to be not emotive enough so she wasn't on the table this time around.
How would that have changed them?: She'd be SLIGHTLY less of a loud idiot, a little more feminine and concerned with what people think of her, and probably a little nicer. Still super competitive and still a daredevil, but all around better judgement. I should actually probably rewrite Clem's personality because she turned out to be way more of an asshole/dumbass than I originally intended her to be.

Character Name: Micah St. Clair
Plans For Next Year: Mystery Squad stuff?? I want to focus on building up his relationships with his sophomore friends. Micah has a lot of places to go with his character but I don't feel like rushing any of it.
Alternate PB: Micah is a mashup of two characters I played in my previous game, who were PBed by Max Minghella and Luke Pasqualino. Luke Pasqualino would not have worked for Micah at all (he was a handsome smug pureblood), but Max Minghella would've been pretty perfect? I just didn't want to use him since that game just this summer. Trying to find a PB took foreveeeeer but Meggie suggested Vincent Kartheiser and I ended up really liking how messy and weird he looked.
How would that have changed them?: Max Minghella as Micah would've been angrier, maybe? More emotional. More cute and less weird.
GIF: There are like three gifs for Crime + Punishment in Suburbia and they are all terrible. I need to buy the DVD so I can gif it, bleh.

How would that have changed them?: SO MUCH MORE ATTITUDE. And so much more sarcasm. There are moments when I regret this. Because I am a sarcastic asshole and Frankie is just so darn nice. But her wide-eyed little Disney Princess self won me over.

Plans For Next Year: Existing! He is still shiny like a new penny and will be all up in everybody's business for 2014.
Alternate PB: About a bajillion years ago, Bash's general concept began its life as the God of Zeal - so he comes by his ADHD and fervid desire to please naturally. His PB was Cole Mohr. But I didn't really have an alternate PB for him at a teeny-baby age. I took one look at Cameron Boyce and went: 'Yup. This idiot.' And then I realized that Wash and Zoe could theoretically be his parents and it was all done for.
How would that have changed them?: He would clearly be old and gross and past his prime. And even skinner. Like, whoa. Eat a sandwich, kid. The need for intense eyebrows, however, has remained.

Plans For Next Year: Someone needs to like, actually force this girl to CHILL OUT. She's got to understand that you can relax by doing things that don't quadruple your heart rate (or make her reek of pot), and also to take things a little less seriously. Her drive seems to be turned to 11 no matter what she's doing. Otherwise girl's gonna burn out toward a breakdown or something one day, and that ain't gonna be pretty.
Alternate PB: lol Amanda Leighton (as in, Clem's PB!). Quinn and Clem were held at the same time and I didn't see that JJ had held Leighton, so I requested her as well. AND THEN I was looking for icons and I was like "wow I love her *and* she looks like Tatiana Maslany and that's just rad" and then I WAS TOLD SHE WAS ALREADY HELD (oops) so I went to find a new PB and it turned out that Maslany played a teenager in some movie so I got to use her after all??? That was a long and pointless story?????
How would that have changed them?: With Leighton, Quinn was a lot more goody-goody and a lot more ~let's all work together or something.~ Her no-nonsense, super-serious work and Prefect sides were influenced by the Leighton set, as was her ♥ love for athleisure wear. If I'd stuck with Lieghton, Quinn wouldn't be such a hypocritical party animal, wouldn't swear like a sailor, and probably wouldn't turn into an evil bitch monster during Anon posts.

... she'd basically be much better at balancing her emotions/life in general, and wouldn't bottle them all up until she explodes.
GIF: I don't have any Quinn gifs from the show her new icons are from. The gifs don't seem to exist and if I want to be the one to make them I'll have to suck it up and watch one of my most-hated shows. So instead, have a gif from another thing.

I've had an itch to play an adult incarnation of Quinn down the line and look at this icon set I just found they are perfect yaaay

Plans For Next Year: HmmMmmmM. Probably buckling down, tbh. She's very determined to do well on her senior project, and will be auditioning for various dance programs in the next few months (idk yet if she succeeds or what the ultimate outcome will be). In general I'd love for Laurel to be on track to graduate with some shit actually figured out when it comes to various aspects of her life. We shall see.
