Week Fifteen -- Wednesday

Who: Jax and invited leaders/associates (Wolf, Grey, Jed, Sensei, Hawk and Kestral)
Where: Waffle House on Highway 14 at the intersection of Wolf and TF territory
When: Sunset
Why: Because deception is fun!

It had been difficult to decide on a location for the meeting. Jax wanted something that was at once neutral for everyone, but at the same time, compromising on his part. He wanted to show the other tribes that he was not afraid to be around them with no weapons. It was a demonstration in sincerity, even though in truth there was not an ounce of sincerity about the whole thing. In the end he chose the Waffle House on the highway because it was in a kind of no-man's land, but also sandwiched right between Wolf and Twin Feather turf.

In his letter he'd specified that each leader only bring one companion and that everyone came without weapons. The first specification he'd honored by choosing to only bring Lawliss along with him. Lawliss was always good at keeping Jax in check and he was the best person to have on your side should the need for close hand to hand combat arise. However, when it came to the second specification Jax broke his own rules. He always had his switch blade with him no matter what and so even as he sat on the bar of the Waffle House awaiting the other leaders, it was tucked safely inside his boot.

Thankfully enough of the lightbulbs still worked in the restaurant for them to see by. It was only a matter of time before the first leader would arrive. Jax wasn't nervous, he was trained extensively for this sort of thing. "Lawliss, my friend, are you ready?"

((OOC: Tag to Lawliss first, and then anyone can jump in as they see fit!))

Week Fourteen - Friday

Who: Hazard and Sensei
Where: the hospital
When: morning
What: repair work

Work was neverending, but Hazard found it satisfactory to be doing something with a visual result and helped the Carrion. Sensei had decided to repair the walls in part of the hospital and recruited some members to assist him. To no one's surprise, Hazard immediately volunteered and set to work, determined not to stop for many breaks. The sooner he completed the walls with the others, the safer everyone would feel. With a small and once-secretive tribe such as the Carrion, morale was important.

Hazard picked up a bunch of wood they had gathered as well as some other tools and headed towards the area where Sensei was working, placing the materials next to him. "Hey," he said and withdrew a hammer from his toolbelt to start his work. "Are we making good progress?" He wanted to do his best despite his not knowing how to do this so well, though he thought he was getting better as time passed. The plank of wood in his hand started to slip and he readjusted it to nail it in place. This might be harder than he expected, though he wanted to save face in some way.

At least they were working together. Things would be easier that way.

Week Fourteen -- Thursday

Who: Wolf and Sensei
Where: The South Side Hospital area
When: Thursday afternoon
Why: A meeting between Sensei and Wolf to decide the relationship between the Wolves and the Carrion

With the true nature of Jax and his gang still hidden to Wolf, he figured that now was as good a time as any to confirm what alliances the Wolves had. Almost as soon as the Wolves had retreated from the city they'd been joined at the farm by the Carrion. Wolf and Grey had gladly taken in the newly revealed tribe. Even though the Carrion was mostly composed of younger kids, there was always more strength in numbers and it wasn't like they could leave them vulnerable to the Mountain Lions. The mystery of the city's south side had finally been revealed. Wolf had found Sensei a very agreeable person, and he had respect for him as a tribe leader.

Now that the war was over it was time for the Carrion and the Wolves to make clear to each other the exact boundaries of their relationship. Wolf knew that they had struggled with food and other things in the past, and he was willing to create an alliance with them that helped them with such things but still allowed them to remain as an independent tribe. Most of the Carrion had returned to the south side of the city to repair their home, and so that was where Wolf went in search of Sensei.

After his meeting with Grey he rode his horse straight to the hospital. Some of the younger Carrion that he'd met over the last month waved to him and one came up to pet and hold the reins of his horse when he got off. He roughed up the kid's hair and asked, "Is Sensei here?" The kid nodded and yelled for someone else to go and get Sensei.

Letter addressed to Jed )

Letter addressed to Hawk and Kestral )

***OOC: Although Jax did not write to the Carrion, once Wolf makes the deal with them that they can remain autonomous, Wolf will certainly share the letter with Sensei and bring Sensei to any future leader meetings, etc. Also, Wolf will take the letter to Grey and see what he thinks.

Week Thirteen - Saturday - St. Patrick's Day/Spring Party

***OOC: Be sure to label the subject line of every post with either "Open" or the names of the chars that are involved in a particular thread! This will help eliminate confusion and let you know what threads are up for grabs!***
Who: Anyone and everyone who’s in Sundance at the time!
What: St. Patrick’s Day/Spring party!
Where: The Trading Post
When: Saturday
Why: Because it’s fun!

In the warmer months the Trading Post is almost always busy, full of drifters and members from every tribe who come there to barter, socialize, and a whole host of other things. It’s generally a peaceful place since it exists in neutral territory and everyone who comes there seems to have an understanding of an unspoken truce. The Trading Post is a large park the sits on the banks of the Belle Fourche river. There are picnic tables, a delapidated swingset and monkey bars, old grills, and of course trader stands. There’s also a dock there, but it is understood to belong to the River Runners, as it’s where they are docked most of the year and those wishing to use it usually have to give the RR a token of some kind, or at least ask nicely.

The St. Patrick’s Day/ Spring party was not planned or hosted by any tribe. The whole things seemed to have come about on its own, first as a rumor and then with complete strangers and tribe members alike planning for it. Saturday morning the place was busy with people decorating in any way that they could. The place was strung with streamers of all different colors, some torn and ratty. There were candles, and lanterns strung about and a few different musicians set up throughout the park. By the time the sun set the park was teaming with people, more people than it had seen in years. Between the boos and the open admission there was no telling what the night would hold.

Week Eleven - Wednesday

WHO: Sensei and Blaze
WHAT: One's brooding, the other is homeward bound
WHERE: The Hospital
WHEN: Early evening,
RATING: R // NC-17ish...apparently they're really happy to see each other

The winter had passed far too slowly for Sensei's liking. Everything combined...the cold, the dwindling amounts of supplies and, personally for him, missing Blaze...it was all just too much. It made the days pass by at a sluggish pace and made it all the better when winter passed into spring. Things were better than they had been, but not enough for the Carrion to be better off than how they'd began. He wasn't sure just what else to do, most especially since a voice of a certain someone kept echoing in the back of his mind. Criticism after criticism after criticism. Blaze had been the one to insist that what Sensei was doing wasn't best for the tribe as a whole. The one who quite possibly had ideas to help the Carrion and make things better. But now that he was gone, the lonely leader was on his own in the decision making.

Then there was the fact that he'd missed Blaze in another sort of way. That time they'd been stuck in the basement had been on his mind just about every day. He'd loved the way it felt, his and Blaze's bodies so close. And then, of course...the kiss. The first and only kiss they'd ever shared and yet was a window for the mind to imagine what could stem from just that one kiss. The lust and general sexual frustration had not been displaced. In fact, if anything, it had only grown over the winter months. Sensei wanted Blaze rather badly. The only problem was, he didn't know if the feeling was mutual. Or if Blaze was ever even coming back.

Sensei was lounged at the base of the stairs on the first floor, just thinking. Thinking and brooding. Things were so different now, at least for him. Because there was a piece missing. There was no way of knowing if things would be whole ever again. Perhaps it was better to forget, but it wasn't as easy as it sounded. Especually after being around the one you were supposed to forget about for so long.

He chuckled to himself, the sound humorless. "Sensei, man...you are so pathetic. Who would have thought just one guy would end up making you feel like this?" Another chuckle.

"Pathetic."

Week Seven -- Sunday to Monday

Who: Blaze and Sensei
What Blaze and Sensei get locked in the boiler room o.o
Where: Boiler room in the basement of the South Side Hospital
When: Late Sunday afternoon to Monday evening.

Blaze sat on the edge of the queen mattress that he drug up to the top of the hospital a year or so ago. Even before he had that matress he had refused to use the hospital beds. There was something way too morbid about sleeping in a hospital bed when he wasn't sick. Not to mention the fact that his mother had died in one... He had just finished cleaning and re-wrapping his hand. It was healing nicely but it was still very tender and the slightest movement still hurt him. He yawned and glanced in the direction of his makeshift window. It was mostly intact except for a part that had been smashed out. He'd managed to cover the hole with a few large black garbage bags and tape them down. It worked fairly well even if it was ugly.

Despite the mostly intact windows he had in his top floor room the place was still freezing and the snow didn't look as though it was going to stop anytime soon. He was still itching for something to do and being trapped in the hospital for three days left him feeling like Jack Nicholson in that Stephen King movie. All work and no play makes Blaze a dull boy. If only he could have found a tennis ball, and perhaps an ax. That could certainly add some excitement to his life. He fell back onto his bed and stared at a vent in the ceiling. A vent. A vent meant heating and cooling did it not? They had electricity so there had to be some way of turning on or fixing the damn system.

He drug himself up off of the bed and rummaged through the cabinet that served as his closet. All he was able to find in his stash was a hammer and a wrench. He knew next to nothing about handy man work, and even less about heating and cooling. As far as he knew no one else in the Carrion knew anything either. However, he'd thought of the perfect way to bother Sensei and perhaps gain some source of entertainment for awhile. Holding the wrench and hammer with his good hand he made his way down the hallways and stairs that led to Sensei's room. He wasn't sure if he'd be in there but it was on his way downstairs so it was logical to check there first. Blaze knocked on the door rather rudely with the butt of the wrench. "Hey Sensei, konichiwa, man you in there?"

Week Six - Saturday

Who: Hazard and Sensei
Where: the hospital
When: midday
What: Hazard has ideas!

Hazard stepped onto the one-shelved medicine trolley and reached out to the wall to give himself a push. The trolley rolled down the hallway and he managed to keep his balance on it. Though it did not go as quickly as he wanted, it still provided him with a much needed rush of excitement. Hazard wanted to find Sensei to tell him about the new idea he'd had and receive his new orders about what to find for the Carrion. Food was always a high priority, or at least was to him because his appetite was growing each day. Was there still a relatively unlooted garden center from which he could take seeds and plant somewhere? Perhaps it was time to pick up gardening and create a small greenhouse, heavily protected should anyone try to break in and steal the food. Hazard liked the idea of setting up booby traps more than the idea of gardening, but that was only natural of a self-proclaimed spy.

The trolley clacked as it continued to roll and he jumped off, grabbing the back of it to prevent it from crashing into the wall at the end of the hallway. Fortunately, he saw Sensei down the adjacent corridor and headed towards him with the exuberance that only a fourteen-year-old boy could possess. "Hi, Sensei, what's happening?" he asked with a smile. "Had an idea you might like. It has to do with codes and scavenging. Maybe we can have a message board with the 'to-do' list and news of what's going on with the other tribes... but it would all be in a cryptic code. You never know who will sneak into the hospital and try to take things. I'm guessing most people are too lazy to take the time to copy down a code and crack it."

"If you give me permission, I think it's also a good idea to secure any entrances into the hospital with traps or something. Just to be safe." There were times when Hazard chose to forego small talk and this happened to be one of them. Once he ran out of ideas, though, he was able and willing to talk normally. He just couldn't help sharing his ideas with the leader of the Carrion, because he liked to think that was one of his jobs in the tribe. Maybe Sensei thought it was too, and that would be awesome.

Week 6 -- Friday

Who: Sensei and Blaze
What: They're stuck inside because of the blizzard
Where: The Hospital
When: Late afternoon
Rating: TBA (there might be fighting involved)

Snow, snow and more snow. When you looked out the windows of the South Side Hospital, or rather lack of windows, all you saw was white. There was pretty much nothing else to be seen. It didn't help that they could feel the cold. With most of the window being broken or not there at all, there were more cold places in the hospital than warm ones. Most of his tribe could be found huddled in groups near the heat and those groups were spread around the entire place. Keeping to the warmth. Sensei was sitting with his sister and a few of her closest friends in one such group. They were chattering away, despite the conditions. Sensei, however, was too caught up looking out the window and into the endless white.

It had snowed back in Tokyo, but never like this. It was never enough to confine his family to the house. But, he and Noriko weren't living there anymore, were they? The cozy home that they remembered had been replaced by a drafty old hospital. Their parents and family had been replaced by other parentless people like them.

Not exactly the most pleasant switch.

He was also thinking about things he should have done before this big blizzard hit. Like try and repair some of the windows. He could have tried getting some guys together to board some of them up or at least get them covered so the place wasn't so damn drafty. That way, it wouldn't have been so cold and they wouldn't have had to huddle up so much. Kind of like the rats in the sewers.

But that was what it took to keep people from getting to them. It kept everyone safe, keeping to themselves as they did. Though...not everyone agreed with him on that subject. And by not everyone, he meant Blaze. Sensei had had multiple fights about it with him already. And no doubt there would be more. They were both stubborn. Extremely stubborn, even, when it came to defending their points.

Sensei got up, smiling at his sister, and started to wander off a bit. It was still pretty warm when he got to the hallway. He leaned up against the wall, running a hand through his hair and sighing a bit. "I hope this damn snow ends soon..."

Week Five - Saturday

Who: Morgan and open.
What: Morgan needs a band-aid.
Where: Outside the hospital.
When: Midday.

Morgan didn't really remember much lately. She seemed to be lacking when it came to memories of the earthquake. When the haze over her head faded, a number of things occurred to her. One, upon looking at her watch, she had been out for a couple days. Two, something had fallen on her arm during the quake, because now it had a scarlet gash from elbow to wrist. Three, it really freakin' hurt. And four, someone or something had taken what was left of her food from her satchel.

So now here she was, outside the hospital, with it's boarded-up exterior, looking for a way in. "There has to be some left behind bandages or something...maybe some neosporin," she trailed off, seeing if she could sneak in through a broken window. For the time being, she had taken a spare shirt and wrapped it around the wound. Hopefully it would keep it from getting infected.

Morgan pulled out her knife, it was a simple hunting knife, and tried to pry a corner of the plywood boarding up. It snapped away with a silence shattering crack. Through the little slice of window visible, she could see the bold lettering of 'PROPERTY OF SOUTH SIDE HOSPITAL' written on the back of a hospital bed. A smile played across her face as she looked around for something to break the rest of the board away and eventually break the window to get inside.

Tuesday Week Four

Who: Carbon and Sensei
Where: The Old Hospital
When: Tuesday afternoon
Why: Carbon longs for the outside world

Carbon stood in the water and stared towards the sky.  The muddy, green liquid below surrounded the thick rubber soles of his boots and seeped up his pant leg slowly making it turn a dark blue and wrinkle.  Carbon hadn't even noticed that his leg was slowly getting wet because he was so focused on looking at the grate above him, he smiled wistfully almost as the light from outside fell upon his face and for a moment he thought he could feel the heat of the sun.  He wasn't really aware of the cold because he hadn't been outside for a long time, he wasn't allowed to venture from the tunnels and the hospitals and although he didn't like it he stayed put because his tribe new best.

He sighed before looking down as something rubbed up agains his leg and when he looked down he noticed the small sewer rat sitting on its hind legs, looking at him.  Carbon looked to the rat and then cast furtive glances around him before feeling it safe to bend down and cradle the small creature in his paw like hands.  He had been told off soo many times by the girls and Sensei alike that he was not to touch the rats because they were dirty and diseased but as the rat sat back in his hand it began to lick itself and groom.

Carbon smiled, "Not dirty," he spoke directly to the critter, "You clean yourself."
