Week Twenty-One -- Friday

who. Kid & Gent.
what. Kid's wandering the riverside.
when. Mid-afternoon.
where. Along the Belle Fourche, near Gent's boat.
rating. PG.
status. Incomplete//Open to those nearby.

There was a lightness is Kid's steps as he took a stroll down the river, searching for the perfect spot to take his date the following night. Of course, it had to be perfect, because such a lady like Jewel deserved no less. Especially after that dinner the other night. Though he knew he should have started searching since Jewel agreed to the date Tuesday night, the couple of days following had Kid a bit preoccupied. There was that strange occurence on Wednesday that had his sister on his mind until the following day when he came upon Little Man. So he was a bit behind on making the plans for his outing tomorrow night with Jewel. The summer sun was beating down on him, and there seemed to be no breeze. Kid had been out searching since the late morning, noting a few locations here and there, but always keeping his eyes out for something better. But right now, he needed a rest.

He stopped beside the river, sitting down on the dirt and pulling off his boots and socks. He could use a little cooling off by the water. As he rolled up his jeans to his knees, Kid dipped his feet in the water and wished he had brought a cantine or some sort of drink container to drink from. He looked around at the area, hoping to find the spot he was searching for soon, when his eyes fell upon a riverboat a little down the way. It looked a bit old, but rather taken care of, so someone had to be living in it. Possibly another River Runner, since he was still in their territory. He had not met all of the tribe yet. He knew Lady, Tramp, and Jack, and he had a run-in with Kahea some time before, and then of course there was Jewel. But he was sure he did not know the owner of this boat. 'Well what could be the harm in introducing myself?' he thought to himself as he rose to his feet, picking up the boots beside him and walking barefoot.

Kahea shifted the sacks on her back. Even though the sun wasn’t as hot as Texas or California, it still made her sweat, making her load just a little bit more uncomfortable at times. Anela was running in between her feet again, and almost caused her to trip a few times. “Anela, enough! I know you’re hungry, but we can’t eat now, we have to wait at least until sundown. Save food, remember?” Anela looked up at her with her emerald green eyes and mewed. Kahea stuck her tongue out at her and kept walking. She fought the urge to pop an ear bud into one ear and listen to her iPod, but she needed to conserve the power as much as possible. Instead she lost herself in thought, trying to remember what she had been told at her last two “city” stops. The first one, a source told her that there had been no military forces coming through that town ever. But they had heard a rumor of a unit of some sort up in Wyoming somewhere. “Oh, where am I now?” she had asked the man. “What remains of Salt Lake City, Utah.” How she came to Utah in the first place, she had no idea. Her initial direction was north, to Washington, but little by little she strayed east and was somehow lucky enough to come across some viable information about her brother. Her sense of direction sucked, and she knew it, so from then on she took better care to pay attention to the direction of the sun and head directly the way she was told to go to find the next town who had rumored to have a “run-in” with a military unit of some kind. In that town, what remained of Casper, Wyoming, she asked questions again about possible military forces and described her brother’s features. This is where she had received her first inch of real hope in years of wandering and looking. They told her about a small unit of about four men who came through and stayed a few days in the town and also tried to “recruit” some of the men in town to join them for some kind of an uprising against something or someone. They didn’t get anyone to go with them but Kahea was told that the man fitting her description carried with him a picture that he was always looking at. That’s when Kahea got brave and took out her iPod to show them the picture of her brother so that she could be 100% sure it was him. The people in the small building, used to be hospital, all nodded in agreement that one of those men was her brother. “Where had they come from?" She asked. If she could retrace his steps, she just might discover where he was going. “I think they came down from Sundance,” spoke up one young woman. “I think I overheard one of them saying something about Sundance.” “Where is that?”

Now she was headed to Sundance. And hopefully she was in the right direction. continue )

Week Fourteen- Wednesday

Who: Peri and Gent
What: Catching up
When: Wednesday Morning
Where: Gen't Boat
Rating: TBD... Probably up there given the personalities of these two...

Gent was enjoying the early morning sun on the top deck of Le Couer. It was nice to just sit and relax with Odile in his lap, his tattered shorts hanging a litle loose on his recently slighted frame and the sun warm accross his bare chest. The past few weeks had been rough. He hadn't had much time to catch up with any of his aquaintances of the River Runners. Things had ben so tense that he just hadn't cared to talk to people much. But now that an awkward peace had been reached, he was ready to see some of his old friends. He had come back to land to see people hadn't he? He was tired of being trapped in his own head and he hadn't flirted with a pretty girl in ages. He needed to flirt.

So, when a pretty little blonde sparked his memory from the deck of a house boat a few over, Gent couldn't help but crack a smile. Oh, he remembered her. He could never forget such pretty baby blues. He stood, sliding a disgruntled Odile onto his shoulders as he shaded his eyes and called out.

"Well, I'll be! If it isn't little Miss Periwinkle! Still sweet to look at ma'am!" Gent let his smooth cajun accent float over the rows of boats towards that pretty little piece of woman.

OOC: Any idea for what the rating might be?

Week Thirteen
Who: Reina (Open to anyone)
What: Pleasure reading and enjoying nature
When: Sunday around noon
Where: Along the Belle Fourche
Rating: TBD

Sundays were free days for all of the girls at the Palace. Whatever they wanted to do with their time was their business, and Reina enjoyed the time to get out herself for some time away from all the estrogen. Today she had slept in until 11, got up, hopped in the shower, and slipped into a cotton dress. She strolled down to the kitchen and packed a small lunch. She slipped the food along with her favorite novel into her purse and set out for a secluded little nook on the river. She went there almost every Sunday for a little quiet. As much as she loved talking and hanging out with her girls, she needed a little time to herself.

She stepped out of the door and set off down the street. It was about a 30 minute walk to the river, and another 5 to scramble through the brush to her perfect hideaway. She walked down the street contentedly breathing in the free air. She got to the river and set off through the brush to get to her spot. After scrambling through, she settled down against a large rock and opened her bag. She took out a sandwich and the book, Her Montana Man, a romance novel. She leaned her back against the rock, opened the book and bit into the sandwich as she began immersing herself in the book. How she loved her cowboys…
