As we move back towards Hogwarts, I know there are plenty of you worried and fearful of the attacks on the Ministry, and you are right to have that fear. Stay vigilant in your studies, protective spells, and be prepared to defend yourself. We cannot lie about the reality of the situation, it's a dangerous one we face. That being said, vigilance in the face of danger and fear is imperative.

Live your life to the fullest, do not falter, walk towards it with your head held high and do not let death and fear rule your lives. Be proud of who you are, and stand true to your beliefs in everything you do.

And remain focused in your studies--this school has already proven itself weak in protection of its students. Do not rely on professors to protect you, rely on yourselves and each other.

Let me make sure to correct any ridiculous allegations the Scribblr might make of me; first off, the demon in question is silver-eyed, don't be so bland Scribblr. Furthermore, he hardly is used to give me any sort of 'wants'. I have never truly been without what it is I desire, and would like to think my ambitions have been quite good at helping me to obtain this.

Really, if I were to conjure a demon it would be simply to provide me amusement, and I hardly would need to attend school here.

And really, as if Catherine the Great's exploits were relegated to her encounters with a horse. It is no surprise a woman of her stature, strength, and prowess, would not be satisfied by mere mortal men. And she was one of the single greatest leaders in the long history of Russia and the world. She is hardly defined by her sexual exploits, and frankly... Russian horses are rather impressive steeds.

I would take offense to them, once again, objectifying you in a sexual manner. Yet, comparing you to Catherine the Great is still a rather large, and worthwhile comparison. She may have had her issues, but what great leader hadn't? She issued the Russian Empire into the Industrial age, and forced it out of the dark ages into a the beginnings of a truly great world power.

I am for one grateful that the magic is back and I realize how much I am looking forward to never being without it again. Christmas can not come soon enough. Apollo and Artemis are back in the castle and doing much better. Calcifer of course noticed nothing different. Silly cat.

I have been rereading a good number of my history books from home, and I am finding the varying appraisals of female leaders of the past as intriguing as always. Why is it that one can call a woman a whore while others consider her a saint? Is there no in-between for us?

A jailbreak, wonderful. It's good to know the most 'powerful prison' in the world for Wizards and Witches is susceptible to such failures. I truly do hope that someone is held responsible for this absurd gaff and is rightly punished for, now, putting the entire Wizarding world in danger. It's a bit absurd to think that this can be allowed to happen.

People will say I'm unfair, or 'mistakes happen', or that obviously the criminals perpetuating this breakout were well-prepared and the prison didn't see it coming. That criticism is fine if it's a Quidditch loss, or someone forgets to order a pallet of sugar at the local market; it's not fine when the mistake allows notorious criminals and killers loose upon the world. The prison should be prepared for any scenario, and it's obvious we need new leadership there.

It is the privilege of men to be wanted and prized for what they can do, create, achieve. Women, through time, are prized for being pretty, petite, pliable, and submissive. We are recognized not for who we are, how smart we are, how powerful we are, but for what designers we wear and who we have married. It is enough to make me wonder sometimes how I, and those around me, will fit in the world where intelligent and capable women are so often put down, negated, spoken over and ignored. The top of the chain is white, male, heterosexual and cisgender. Where is the place for the rest of us, and when will intelligence be enough?

In the same vein, when will it be okay for males to be weak? Why can they not show real emotion without being labeled and ignored? Why can we just not all find an accord?


Sexy Halloween costumes just continue this oppression - seeking attention for our bodies and not our minds. I hope some outside of me will seek out more unique and interesting themes than sexy animals and such. We are so much more.

I find it disturbing that, in order to explain my skill in arithmancy, someone believes I must be blackmailing the professor. Last time I was supposedly using my sexuality - which of course as a woman is my only skill - to earn my grade. Now it is outright blackmail. Perhaps for having seduced him last month? It is not of course at all reasonable to believe that I could possibly just be good at such a 'difficult' subject as a woman on my own merits.

There are definitely days where I grow exhausted of Hogwarts; the constant pranks, the incessant whining about grades, or homework, or the everyday existence that is a school. And Hogwarts has almost become okay with it, accepting that 'that's just how kids are', but really they don't have to be.

You are in school to learn, to better yourselves, whether it's to be simply higher than a maggot on the floor, to even being the Minister himself, but you are here to better yourselves. So quit worrying about such remarkably petty things like your relationships, or if your homework is too hard, and just do it. If you fail? Good, it's the point, to weed you out.

Still, this place does sometimes feel like a home. A home invaded by far too many people, but a home nonetheless.

It is so nice to be able to use my magic again and come Christmas time I will be able to use it whenever I want. I can't wait. It is good to be back at Hogwarts. It feels like coming home. It feels so good to be away from my father. I have less classes than I did last year but each class has a lot more homework.

I have been following muggle news, as always, and I am feeling a rather overwhelming bit of joy at the start toward removing elected officials that would go against equality and happiness. While I have not ever even considered the possibility of love for myself outside of books, I believe that it should be denied to no one so long as they are legal and consenting. Why should one couple be treated any different than another if they are of age and in love?

On another note, I love that we have gotten right into work in all of our classes. It has been a long summer without magic.

I have spent a good deal of time preparing to return to school, and I believe I am ready completely now. Papa has given me a number of new books to take with me when I go, and I have spent hours each day riding Philippe to ensure that he will miss me less while I am gone. It is a pity I cannot bring him along to school, but I believe that while dogs and cats and other small pets are acceptable, a horse might be frowned upon.

Sorry, sorry. I lost myself reading the past few days I think. Do you ever get lost in a really good book, then start to think about how the author was feeling or what they were thinking when they were writing it? My favorite author lately has been Poe. I don't know why. It's summer, not fall. But, I find myself intrigued by his use of language and even his style of writing reads like it's meant to be read out loud.

Sometimes I do get lonely here, but at least there's always Nina outside. She's my stallion. Quite beautiful, too. Grandfather tells me that she's getting older, but I'm hoping that's not true.

I think I'm done rambling for now. I can't wait for Quidditch later this summer!

So I'm curious... Curious by nature, which is why I was likely sorted Ravenclaw. I like to learn and gather information.

Scientists and doctors say that people who have lost one of their senses, have heightened senses of the remaining ones. I would assume that the same goes for people born without one of their senses. How does one judge that? Obviously through experimentation and analysis, which is a given, but how does the test subject know that things are heightened? Maybe their mind is just making them think it is, so would that be considered a true testament?

I wonder... does it apply to all aspects of life? Do clothes suddenly feel better? Do perfumes suddenly smell better or more fragrant? Or is it a slow process? Does it need to be taught to someone without one of their senses. Does it make things of the physical nature better too? Like kissing and sex, not that I know about either of those one way or another, nor do am I in a rush to. I just wonder... if it affects hearing and smells and tastes, does it really affect touch?
