I cannot believe the Ministry!

They denied my aunt's application to connect our fireplace here to the floo so I could easily get to her place in Marble City. And every idiot I've spoken to at the Ministry can't explain why except maybe muggle secrecy except it's the floo FROM MY PARENTS HOUSE WHERE MY FAMILY KNOWS I AM A WITCH TO MY AUNTS HOUSE WHERE THEY ALSO KNOW SHE IS A WITCH.

Aunt Jo's taken over dealing with the Ministry because I wasn't getting anywhere on the phone other than making myself more upset. It's just.... ridiculous. It's never been a problem before to have them connect it for the day so it doesn't take me forever to drive to the city, and it's two planes to Marble City because nothing is direct. And planes are expensive and we don't have that kind of money especially not with the drought now.

It's probably just... some miscommunication and will be worked out soon enough. I hope. Means you'll have to wait a bit longer for your Smarties, sorry Jack.

I have been waiting a little while because I still can not believe it is real, but it is. Last Friday I went out on a date with this guy. Remember me tell you I had a crush on a guy from school? Well I saw him the other day and just out of the blue asked him and he said yes!

I think I want to try out of the Quidditch team this year. I know the keeper left last year and thought, why not? The problem is that I don't have broom, can anyone recommend a good on? But not too expensive.

I am very much enjoying summer this year, more than normal. Having time to read and study what I want to learn- well, I suppose need to learn is more suitable- is great. School is wonderful and all but really there is a lot that I can't get there with what I intend to do with my life. Making wands is what Ollivanders do, what we've always done, and so while it's great to learn about magical creatures, I don't know that I need it outside of learning magical properties. Not that the animals are anything less than fascinating, honestly, and I think that might be among my favourite classes. Uncle is letting me work in the back this year, so I am able to create finally instead of just reciting back the qualities of the various wand woods and cores.

So I came home today from camping and there was the strangest thing on my bed at first. There was one of my winter boots there, but then what popped it's head out surprised me.



Da was apparently waiting for me to show with this little cutie as an apology for being gone most of the summer working. He also suggested that I maybe have a girls' night. So ladies, who would like to come and sleep over in hopes of doing all the traditional girly things?

Looks like I’m going to head back to Marble City early this year, so I can finally say yes to invites to hang out! I’ll be doing some work for my aunt, but otherwise I’m in the free and clear.

First order of business when I get to the city is hitting up a candy shop because apparently my niece-or-nephew-to-be loves sugar mice and my whole summer stash is gone. Decimated. You don’t argue with a pregnant woman when she says to hand them all over. Is there a candy shop in Quinque Alley because waiting until the first Hogsmeade weekend seems like forever.
