Brand New Day is a success with young readers
As much as I dislike the current status quo, I have to give Joey Q credit--the target audience, young kids, love it. In the end, that's only a good thing. For an example, check out this video.

Sweet Blue Flowers (Aoi Hana) by Takako Shimura
Someone posted about one of Shimura's other series, Hourou Musuko (Transient Son or Wandering Son), a few months ago. Sweet Blue Flowers starts off with an older crowd. On the surface, it may look like just another "childhood friends are reunited" story, but it's so much more. It's about sexuality and friendship and crushes and growing up. It has subtlety and realism.

Megatron and his wild hair

Jan's bad luck with stalkers, part three.
Or, really, a corollary to part two, because I'm an idjit and had somehow totally forgotten about this.
So, when I said that there were no major stalkery incidents between David Cannon and Janet van Dyne between the times of Marvel Features and issue 71 of Avengers Volume Three, I was totally neglecting an important one. Namely, Cannon's kidnapping attempt after Jan's divorce from Hank and Hank's later imprisonment.

Dick Grayson really is astounding, the man for all seasons (and fetishes).
He's appealing to women and men, and the hetero and homo flavours of both. He looks great in heroic poses and adorable when tied up. And yet, there's been one little area, just one, quite popular amongst certain folk in this community, where he's never had a chance to shine... that's about to change...

Inside Pat Lee
I stumbled on this while preparing the "When Alan Moore was crap" entries. There was a time when Rob Liefeld's Extreme Studios was putting profiles of its talent in the Extreme comics. The person in the spotlight would list likes, dislikes, influences, etc. One time, the person chosen for this honor who a young up-and-comer named Pat Lee.
I know the guy has his fans here, especially among the Transformers fans, so I thought some of you folks might enjoy this.

A moment with POGO
Always a good idea to see what was going on in the Okefenokee Swamp back in 1951.
Pogo himself in not in this particular sequence, nor Albert. The strip had a huge cast that wandered in and out. I don't know another cartoonist who can make a character combine animal and human characteristics so seamlessly and so naturally as Walt Kelly. The facial expressions are priceless, and nearly every panel has a little gem. The mouse casually lighting his match against the panel border, or Miz Beaver figuring the tiger is an escaped convict in a prison outfit. The problem with POGO is not in finding a good sequence to post, but avoiding the temptation to put up huge lengthy chunks at a time.
