Re-read The Nail/Another Nail last night putting me in the mood for some badass GL action!

I suppose this would be considered 'the context of' and 'an addition to' a few month old post. For those not familiar with it, The Nail is a 'what if' type story involving the Kents not going for that drive the day they found baby Supes. It was okay and continued in Another Nail. This gave life to the win that is Big Barda(and Mister Miracle?) with a power ring.

First, how Scott got in the ring. Essentially they were captured and being tortured by Darkseid and Granny Goodness, Scott dies, and everyone gets called away to fight leaving Barda shackled and alone with the body which leads to Barda going crazy and hearing voices which brings us to...

Mister Miracle & Big Barda's Guide to Fusing with a Power Ring
Step 1) "Die."
Step 2) Transfer consciousness to motherbox in wife's armour.

Step 3) Someone with a GL ring dies nearby.

Step 4) Mysterious happenings.

Step 5) Hells yes.

So now Scott's in the ring.

It kind of baffles everyone, really.

That aside, for one final bit of fun, some more action.

Is there any explanation for how he did that besides "My body was a trap!" I kind of hope not, because there really never is.

Pretty much. I mean there were a few 'moments' that were halfway okay though for the most part this is it.

Yeah, I mean I saw it coming the first time I'd read it since they were going with extremes but still, he's Jimmy Olsen.

The Nail was a great read. I look back on it every once in a while and it's amazing how tightly constructed it is from a plot perspective. Almost every page gives a clue about the final reveal, the whole shebang cohering more and more with every new scene. And it helps that I wasn't familiar with a lot of the older characters like Shade or the Atom at the time, so it was my first real exposure to how cool they could be under good writing.

Another Nail wasn't as good, but it was still a fun read.

DCU's best couple, even when he's a disembodied life force inhabiting the circuitry of her armor. "Mmmm, I'm not complaining." Win!

Alan Davis always draws great babes, but he did an especially nice Barda and Scott, posted earlier to scans_daily (http://asylums.insanejournal.com/scans_daily/277511.html) (along with a ky00t Katie Cook piece).

If GL!Barda was around, this whole Skittles War thing would be over and Blackest Night would have just fizzled.

Possibly referring to Hefner's legendary drinking jellybean Light War game.

Ah. The lemon ones are my favorite flavor of the regular Skittles, but I don't like those guys. I like the blue sour Skittles, though; what are the Blue Lanterns like? *ponders*

BARDA AND SCOTT FUCK YEAH.

So this is why DC had to send all the New Gods to another universe. If Barda was around Blackest Night would be over in about one issue. Two if she took a break to snog Scott.

But seriously DC I want my Frees back plz.

Barda and Scott as the Green Lantern Team FTW!!!

It is amazing to notice how Barda, who has never used a Green Lantern ring to this point, manages to kick more ass than the own Green Lantern Corps (heck, she even manages to defeat Darkseid in the end)
