AVENGERS FINALE: I hate Wanda While recapping the woeful events of AVENGERS #200 and AVENGERS ANNUAL #10, I brought up Ms. Marvel saying she hated Wanda Maximoff in AVENGERS FINALE. And here we are, with words by Brian Michael Bendis and art by Steve Epting. First off, Tony Stark gives a rather half-arsed explanation as to why he can't fund the Avengers anymore and why he's leaving the Mansion a burned-out pit.
( Money and hatred. )

Mind rape?
While they didn't create the term, TV Tropes defines "Mind Rape" as when "a character is attacked by a villain in the most painful non-physical way possible. Their mind and soul are assaulted with painful, horrifying visions and memories, and broken until they're powerless and numb, but not dead, although afterwards they may wish they were. Nothing sexual occurs, but everything else is there to resemble a rape - violation, helplessness, and the poisoning of what could otherwise be a source of joy." However I've seen a lot of people throw the term around whenever a character gets their mind read without their permission, as if it's just as bad (or almost as bad) as the act of sexual assault itself.

X-Factor #116 Title: X-Factor #116: Homecomings (Marvel Comics, 1995, 23 pages) Creators: Howard Mackie (writer), Steve Epting (pencils) Availability: Out of print.
A couple of months back, timemonkey requested scans of non-Austen Northstar and Polaris meeting. So, in keeping with my "I only bought this because it had Northstar in it" posting tendencies, here's a run-in between Alpha Flight and X-Factor. That's right, you lucky people! You're getting some 90's-era Howard Mackie goodness!
For all that I've complained -- and will continue to complain -- that damn near every writer to come along has an exasperating tendency to confuse reminding us that Northstar likes men with actual character development, Northstar is still way better off than Aurora in the characterization department. Whereas Northstar's been given some positive traits over the years, his sister's defining characteristics always reset to her being two flavors of crazy (boy and batshit) and, if someone was feeling really creative, occasionally bitchy or an abuse victim.
Howard Mackie did not buck the trend, but at least he didn't get overly creative.
Aurora and Wild Child show up in the Weapon X series a few years later. He's uglier than before, and she's a crazy bitch. Oh yeah, and in an abusive relationship with Weapon X's director. *sigh*

When Stevie Was Dead: Part I: Heroes Divided, Villains United
In the Great Exodus from Livejournal to our current homeland, many a precious memory was lost; among them, the entirety of the "The Death of Captain America" mega-arc. Since that was probably the most widely-publicized comics storyline of the decade, not to mention one of the best, I decided to get around to reposting the thing for posterity.
Material taken from Captain America v.5 #22-25.

Preview of Captain America #49
After the 6-issue sojourn to China, we catch up with everyone's favourite Manchurian candidate, Sharon Carter, and her retconned-aunt (used-to-be-sister) Peggy. They have a lot in common, starting with both having fucked Steve.

Everything You Know Is Wrong! I intended to post this awhile ago, in support of someone's post on the one-shot What If The Scarlet Witch Didn't Act Alone? But I actually hate scanning. It's involved and timeconsuming and doing it well requires minute adjustments, also. I'm lazy.
Anyway, this is from the one-shot Avengers: Finale.
