He is given a bag containing his clothes and a room key stamped with the correct room number. The elevator goes up and the doors open onto the cafeteria. He is left to find his own way to his room. ◊ C O M M U N I C A T I O N S ◊ New residents receive this welcome message on their computer. The message blinks until it is read.

███ D A Y ◊ S E V E N ◊ July 10th ◊ ◊ W E A T H E R ◊ The skies grow dark stay that way all day, thunder rolling hard from early morning and into the night. Rain pours down from afternoon until well after dark, lightning streaking the sky with the heavy storm. ◊ E V E N T S ◊ The kitchen has been restocked with requested items. The stocks are still in place in the courtyard, though they are probably not the centre of attention in the courtyard today. Caroline’s body can be found from predawn onwards - it is clear she is not only dead, but that she fell from the roof of the building. Blood smears on the sides of the courtyard show where she attempted to climb out. Some may have heard the sounds of a helicopter just before dawn, or seen the spotlight shining around the roof/courtyard. The sound and light would have lasted no more than 10 minutes. (see this post here) Wren receives a key to room 43 in Block B, with a note to drop her current room key in the post box. ◊ C O M M U N I C A T I O N S ◊ Cal receives a note from the administration. Dr Royce Attached at the results of Mr Reyes’ test. Ms. Langdon’s results are being processed. We have set up a procedure for the same now. Ms. Langdon’s results will be with you tomorrow. Any further test of this nature will have a two day turnaround from the day the samples are submitted to us. Results will be forwarded to your account. The Administration. Meg receives a note from the administration. Ms. Mills, Mr. Ravin has been removed due to actions and activities engaged in by yourself and another party. Setting: Courtyard, just before dawn

Caroline had fallen twice already. She had ripped off two fingernails – one of which was still stuck in a crack above the level two balcony. There was a blood smear halfway up the wall, but the roof was almost in sight now.

Every muscle in her body was burning. Each limb felt like lead and her arms and legs trembled with the effort of keeping going. She had been right – the climb to the roof had been almost impossible. But she’d made it.
