One tequila, two tequila, three tequila...

Characters: Leandro, Wren, and OPEN
Setting: The bar, night, day 3

"Okay, this is is how we do..."

Leandro was carefully leaning over a pair of shot glasses on the bartop, an elegant oval-esque bottle gripped in one hand. It was full of a dark bronze liquid that, once uncorked, bled a green-sweet moss smell into the air. "It's Don Julio, fairly nice stuff. I was expecting some crap Cuervo, but you might like this. We're going to drink it auténtico, not Americano. That means no salt and no lime, not like a big baby."

He grinned crookedly at that, not expecting Wren to know the difference. Nevertheless, he wanted her first ta-kill-ya experience to be the best it possibly could be, very much minus the shredded clothes and passing out of the usual collegiate first-timer's setting. The mossy liquid went into each shot glass in a thin layer, one a little thinner than the other. He shorted her a bit off the usual level of the shot, just in case it really was too much for her to handle. Then each glass was held between his fingertips, the lesser one offered out to her.

"Alright, tip your head back a little like you're looking at the ceiling, and chug the shot as fast as you can. Pretend you're taking cough syrup. Don't worry, you will taste it." Leandro just could not suppress his grin in anticipation of drinking such a nice tequila himself. He gallantly went first, tipping the shot into his mouth and gulping it down. Naturally, it went from about 0 to 60 in less than a second, building up to a firebreathing cinnamon burn not unlike a full mouth of Indian cuisine. His eyes went wide and watered a little, and he had to shake his head, jaw swung open.

"Whew! Ya ya ya!" he punctuated the occasion. As the seconds went by it was mellowing out into the aftertaste that marked it as a nice quality – earthy, warm vanilla and pure, sweet agave.

Dinner time

Characters: Carmel, OPEN
Setting: Cafeteria/Kitchen, around 6/6:30 and after

Carmel had put out the two large pans of lasagna in the kitchen, keeping one covered for now and opening the other, going so far as to slice most of it into pieces for people to take more easily without tearing everything up. It smelled good, and she'd tasted a small corner of it and it really did turn out good. There was a large bowl of salad set out as well, and a selection of salad dressings. She made a mental note to come back later and make sure they all got put back in the fridge.

She went ahead and served herself up a helping and wandered into the cafeteria. It was almost nice enough to eat outside, but she decided to save that for another day.

EVENT

E V E N T

July 6th - afternoon

E V E N T S

Brady is put into the elevator at around 3pm together (his blindfolds and shackles are removed once he is in the elevator and he is not given any opportunity of talking with any guards etc). He is given a bag containing his clothes and a room key stamped with the correct room number. The elevator goes up and the doors open onto the cafeteria. He is left to find his own way to his room.

A little while later, Jason gets the same treatment.

Feed the birds

Characters: Ryan, Mazie
Setting: Courtyard, early afternoon

Ryan sat on a bench out in the courtyard, slouched and sprawl-kneed. He looked utterly relaxed, though inside he still buzzed. Buzzed from Susanna, buzzed from the options he had before him in this place. He should make sure to talk to at least one of the women again today. Wren and Becka both intrigued him greatly, if for completely different reasons.

No reason not to have options, after all, he thought as he crumbled another biscuit he’d taken from the kitchen and tossed the crumbs to a few enterprising sparrows and a pigeon. He didn’t particularly care for birds, but bird-watching was always a good excuse for people-watching, and bird-feeding was a good excuse for being in a park where someone he was interested in also was.

Besides, animal lovers weren’t dangerous, right?

It was a soothing and innocuous practice, though, and he wanted to watch these people more, meet a few more of them. And the sun was warm on his skin. It wasn’t freedom, but it was more than he’d had in a long time.

Maybe she was innocuous, maybe not... )

Faith and Fate

Characters: Mojo and Wren
Setting: Spiritual room, late afternoon

After her morning spent with the survey and a handful of back-and-forth comments with the others, Mojo had thrown herself together in a slapdash fashion, pulling on clothes and tying her hair back before heading out for some proper exploration. She’d taken her time with it, rooting around the common areas aside from the library, mindful of the visits or whatever they were going on inside.

But there was plenty to check out even without the library, and Mojo managed to fritter away more time than she would’ve guessed at just learning the place and what had been provided for them here. Finding the spiritual room nearly last, she’d decided to linger here for a bit, basking in the silence before Mojo set herself to work gathering candles. They were simple things, obviously meant for the many different faiths that had observances marked by lighting one, but there were so many of them that she figured no one would miss one or two. Or a dozen.
