Naomi had been getting everything as prepared as possible, having gotten up early to make side salads, and had gotten out meat to thaw, everything. She had made punch, and was smiling as she saw people start to follow the smell of food. This should be something. Hopefully a positive something.

Setting: the courtyard, block A

The alarm jolted Angel out of the room that definitely was not his cell, which was jarring enough, and then he was somewhere that looked like a freaking hotel with a metal bracelet that wasn't a handcuff around his wrist. There were a few more people in the courtyard, all reading some big screen, so Angel headed that way. "Someone wanna tell me just what the fuck is going on here?"

Setting: The courtyard, evening-night

The decorations had been set up with the help of a ton of people, music was getting played, and there were costumes for everyone. The night was going to be great, hopefully, just what everyone needed. Autumn looked around from the second floor balcony, and smiled, thinking this couldn't be better. It was exactly what she'd wanted it to be.

Setting: The library, late afternoon onward

"'Nicole continued talking. She told me quite a few interesting stories, some of which I decided to use myself, either as stories or poems. I watched her breasts as she bent forward and poured drinks. It's like a movie, I thought, like a fucking movie.'," Mojo read easily from her seat at one of the library tables, leaned slightly back with a smile on her lips a cup of wine in one hand, and her book in the other.

Setting: Courtroom, 9 AM

"Understand that I am neither prosecution or defense," Wu said as he looked over the jury, "I am not here to argue these cases or answer your questions relating to them. I am here only to present the basis of each. Anything more, you must ask the law enforcement staff or the accused themselves."

He was as composed and unreadable as he'd ever been, pacing around in front of the long table that situated the jury. His temper was coiling with impatience, but this wasn't the place for it to come loose. "In the case of fights, of which there have been several, keep in mind that guilt may be assigned to both parties for taking part, and that sentencing ultimately rests in your hands as well. Neither verdicts or sentences must be unanimous, only held by a majority. Let us begin."

Setting: Cafeteria, evening

All of her stuff was packed and ready to go, she'd let the administration know of her decision to graduate rather than return to the prison population, and now she was getting ready to go to the little 'party' she'd organized. She'd felt just a little silly making that invitation in the program on the computer, but it was cute and she rather thought this place needed a little silly. Besides, she wanted to leave here on a positive note.

It was a little bit before the time she'd set for the party when Becka headed down the stairs and across the courtyard to the cafeteria, Polaroid camera in hand. She'd showered and changed, not wearing long sleeves for the first time since her ordeal, put on just a little bit of makeup, more to cover the circles under her eyes. She managed to make it to the cafeteria first and headed for a table near a wall, pushing herself up to sit on it facing the entryway, waiting to see who would make it.

Characters: Brady, Aaron, Jae
Setting: Law Enforcement Office

Aaron was glad he was the first person down to what the door had labelled the ‘Law Enforcement Office’. It had given him a chance to look around. To familiarise himself with surroundings that were at the same time already familiar and entirely alien to him. To actually equalise some of those feelings before anyone else got here.

He had put up the most negative of job applications, and yet he was still here. He had a hard time believing that that many people would have voted for him. So either he was here because of a small number of votes. Or the entire thing had been rigged because they wanted an actual cop on the scene. He figured that, when you got right down to it, it didn’t really matter which one it was. He was here and he had promised that if he was elected, he would do his job. And he was going to do that.

Setting: The courtyard, 1 P.M.

Forethought definitely let Wu make it all look easy; it had only taken a bit of planning and a wilful redirection of his thoughts to keep himself on task and timely, and in the end? He’d laden the picnic table in the courtyard with two generous bowls of food, four empty bowls to eat from and utensils to do so, and even a serving platter with mugs and a tea pot.

He’d learned a great deal over the course of his life, so even if lessons of etiquette and presentation had come later? They had still been retained, and were definitely observed now. Unreadable in his expression, Wu seemed at ease as he spread the empty bowls and utensils between four seats, laying cutlery by three of them and a pair of chopsticks by his own. He was hopeful for a lack of conflict from Charlie, and had even taken pains to prepare a vegetarian stir fry and rice, two dishes that seemed unlikely to cause offence. But the boy was wilful, and if today saw him continue to be so? Wu would just have to play a very gracious host, and let the fallout fall where it would.

Having managed to lead Edan away from the courtyard in the aftermath of Caroline's death, Wu had actually felt some satisfaction with himself for a moment. He generally wasn't good at cajoling or distracting others, though in the moment she had obviously needed it, and somehow? just talking and steadying Edan had been enough to get her clear.

Of course, any satisfaction he felt was short-lived once they'd actually reached the gym. However long it took, whatever detours they'd wandered? They were here now, and without being in motion Wu realized that he had to try and offer some sort of focus for Edan. Shit, he thought as they headed in, silently hoping that Carmel was going to show up as well. Otherwise?

"Exercise, this is good for strained times," Wu offered once inside, nodding back at the mess they'd both left behind, "Tire the body, tire the mind. Eventually shut out what troubles you. And with time, the body grows stronger."

Jae had set herself up right around where the blood was, looking up towards the dark skies. It was going to storm today, she could feel it in the charge in the air. Mentally, she was narrowing down the make of the chopper that she'd heard, even if it was brief. It was better than sitting there thinking they were going to have to deal with a corpse, and she had no idea what the hell that was going to entail.

Well, that and she was really hoping Brady was over stating things when he dropped the Hannibal Lector comment. Cuz... seriously, that was a whole lot of no.

Setting: Courtyard, just before dawn

Caroline had fallen twice already. She had ripped off two fingernails – one of which was still stuck in a crack above the level two balcony. There was a blood smear halfway up the wall, but the roof was almost in sight now.

Every muscle in her body was burning. Each limb felt like lead and her arms and legs trembled with the effort of keeping going. She had been right – the climb to the roof had been almost impossible. But she’d made it.
