Aaron was glad he was the first person down to what the door had labelled the ‘Law Enforcement Office’. It had given him a chance to look around. To familiarise himself with surroundings that were at the same time already familiar and entirely alien to him. To actually equalise some of those feelings before anyone else got here.

He had put up the most negative of job applications, and yet he was still here. He had a hard time believing that that many people would have voted for him. So either he was here because of a small number of votes. Or the entire thing had been rigged because they wanted an actual cop on the scene. He figured that, when you got right down to it, it didn’t really matter which one it was. He was here and he had promised that if he was elected, he would do his job. And he was going to do that.

Task of voting done, Jeremy opted to leave his room, since the power was on again and all. He wasn't stupid. The power had gone out and he'd locked his door, staying safely behind it. There was no need to tangle with whatever anyone might have in mind without the man watching. He hadn't thought much of his door, at least not until he was locking it and noticed the black scrawling across it.

Tangle with the beast, get eaten.

He wasn't the type to cower to threats, but that had quite the ominous feel to it. Had he tangled with anyone recently? For a long moment he stood there, fedora perched back, suit jacket and vest on (no tie today), trying to sort out just what it was that had motivated someone to write on his door. Maybe talks with Jae? No. That wasn't right, they'd only talked about escape. He was still puzzling it out a few moments later, going through every interaction he'd had thus far, trying to determine where he'd gone wrong.

This time when the lights went out, they didn’t come back on. Not right away and not a moment later like they had before. Edan was holding tight to Evan’s shirt, but as the rain didn’t stop and the lights stayed off she felt her panic rising. Thunder crashed again and she moved in closer, face more in his chest. “Why aren’t the lights coming on?” she asked, voice hurried and demanding. “Why is it still dark? You said...you said there’d be a generator. You said the lights wouldn’t go out.”

The whole concept of being given a name of someone he had to go have a conversation with was really fucking stupid, but Brady wasn’t really interested in thumbing his nose at the Administration just yet. Eventually, maybe, but not quite yet. At least with the mood Kyle seemed to be, it was bound to be a short conversation. He was a little curious about what had him in pity party mode, as he knew that mindset very well, but he didn’t really care to have a heart to heart. He just wanted to get the whole thing done and over with. And so, when the clock hit nine, he left his room and went straight to room seven, hand lifting to give three firm knocks to the door.

Kyle had been expecting the call, but that didn’t mean that he had been at all looking forward to it. He didn’t want to see anyone today - no matter what certain people he knew here might have in mind. He looked and felt like a mess - he hadn’t slept overnight, his eyes were red rimmed and puffy and he was still in yesterday’s clothes. But talking to this guy seemed to be the quickest way to get rid of him, so he opened the door. Stepping into the doorway, he leaned against the doorpost, holding onto the door lightly at shoulder height with his other hand. “So - we’ve met. What do you want to talk about?” he asked, coldly. Despite the way he looked, his face was a haughty, emotionless mask - as though he were shopping in a high end store, rather than standing at the door of what amounted to his prison cell.
