( She wanted to get a look at him in better light, because Max knew from experience that the type of poison he had described on the phone had to be a hallucinogen of some sort. )

When the sun sets over Seattle on the Ides of March, the city's power suddenly stops humming. Everything goes dark, and dark it will remain until sunrise the following day. Cell towers are non operational, modems do not work, street lights are dark and the city is plunged into eerie silence. Those residents with radios will hear that the blackout is unexplained, that the power company cannot fix what isn't broken. The lobby of all three buildings is dimly lit via generator, more darkness than light and not enough brightness to even make out the features of those collected there, the walls painted with shadows and imagined fears. That is all the power the buildings afford.

What: Talking and avoiding the truth.

(  Luke didn’t know how to explain the situation without making it sound like they were all criminals on the run or something along those lines. )

( Using fake IDs to get into a bar so Bly could attempt to pick up older women wasn't one of their better ideas. )

What: They’re neighbors they should be besties.

Where: In the hallway on the fifth floor of Aubade.

( Evangeline and Georgia stopped dead in their tracks and Evie whipped her head around at the sound of a strange voice. )

What: Male bonding, which includes talking about new suits and awesome ideas.

When: Sometime after Luke borrows the Batsuit.

( The excitement was building, and it was making Bly rock back and forth, from the balls of his feet to his heels. Luke was behind this, and that was awesome. So very awesome. )

What: Breaking the news that Wren is gone.

( Quinn sat back heavily, sinking against the pillows and staring at Luke. Nothing he said really made any sense to her. )

( Luke stared at Thomas blankly, hearing everything he was saying but not quite processing it properly at first. )

( Beneath the lights Luke looked nothing like the Bat Thomas had been. )

( A mask? Was she a mask? Well, she was definitely wearing one, however shoddily made, but this was the first time she’d shot anyone in years. )

( Quinn was surprised to see Luke get out of the chair and shift to sit on the side of her bed. )
