Katya and Ariadne, I'm really really REALLY sorry that Newt had your things!!! I had a talk with him and I don't think he understands English yet I'm sure he feels really bad about taking it, he just didn't know he wasn't supposed to because he doesn't have any family or anything, because he was an orphan. But don't worry! I'll teach him that taking other people's things is wrong and he probably won't do it again. He's a really nice Niffler, I promise!

And Avery and Leo, he took found the Snitch!! I heard it got lost during Sunday's game. I'm really sorry if he broke it but Maybe he'll grow up to be a Seeker!

IF ANYBODY ELSE'S THINGS GO MISSING AGAIN, CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME? Not that I think anything will go missing! Well, it might, but at least we'll know where it came from? I'm going to keep a really good eye on him and I got permission to bring him to classes for a week so he can learn to not take things. Apparently someone might have dumped abandoned gotten rid of left him when they realized he has a hurt foot. Or that they had him in one of those illegal zoos, and he got out. :( Who would do that to another living creature??

Oh and I know my Animagus form now: I'm a shaggy dog! So if you've seen a shaggy dog around (an Australian shepherd—I'm a herding dog!), that was me!! Maybe I should get a bandana so people know I'm not a stray? But I don't think there are any other dog Animagi here, or pet dogs?

Late in the evening, Kurt Wolfhart decided the risk is worth it, and they sneak out to the Grotto under the cover of darkness. They heard the rumor that one of Ariadne Flint's missing pieces of jewelery had been found there. The Grotto's always been safe. Why, then, are they so nervous? Why do they feel so unwelcome tonight?

But the Grotto doesn't look any different. It must be in their head. They exhale, a plume of steam comes out of their mouth. The building looms over them, empty. The fire pit is bare and cold. As they wander the familiar space, it all seems very barren without their classmates filling it up with voices and music. A line of beer bottles has been arranged in a straight line by the fire pit, reminding them of past parties.

It's so sad here when it's empty. Kind of lonely, even.

OKI keep trying to ask this but everything I've written write felt really stupid like I was doing it wrong because I don't know how to write or say or ask or talk about any of this, and maybe it's harder over journals sometimes, or maybe it's easier, I don't know. This might all sound really stupid but I'm going to ask here and then you don't have to say anything back if you don't want to.

I haven't really seen you around a lot since the dock this week and I'm really worri I just want to ask: how are you? I mean, if you want to share. You don't have to, and you don't have to talk to me or anything or anybody if you don't want to. Obviously. But after Monday I was really worr worrie worried and I don't want you to think that I'm ignoring you, but also I don't want you to think that I'm trying to get you to talk to me or about whatever all of the time. The search and rescue operation for S.S. Grindyboat is officially over! She's home, she's safe, and she's sound! Thanks to everybody who helped me look for her!!

On Friday Mr. Covington let me take Lacey out because I wanted to go for a ride after dinner since I couldn't make it to Equestrian last week. She was acting really weird, and she wouldn't listen to me, and I thought it was going to be another spooky thing like everything that's happened lately (but I'm really glad everybody's okay!!). But instead, she brought me to the S.S. Grindyboat!! For real! I don't know where it went in the middle of the race, but she was just sitting beside the trail. Maybe a bird did take it, or maybe somebody accioed it out of the water as part of another prank. If you did do that, it's okay, and thanks for getting me back my boat.

She's even in perfect condition! I mean the boat, not Lacey. (But Lacey's doing pretty great, too.) I'm almost positive it's the real S.S. Grindyboat because I remember some of the folds I did by accident — the creases are still there. My boat! Not wet or marked or anything! I know that horses are really perceptive animals, but this is way beyond what I thought they meant!

Why were we being people-watched in OE this afternoon? Is there a new people-watching club? Is that some kind of new trend?

Following the back-to-school party, which involved an unreasonable amount of kissing, an unfortunate cold epidemic has swept through the school. By that evening, the staff have been forced to acknowledge it. Their reactions range from disappointment to barely stifled amusement.

The Heads of House tell their students to go stop by the hospital wing if they're unwell, where Healer Mufferaw is waiting with folded arms and a withering expression. "You all got yourselves into this mess," he's heard saying, "but none of you are getting out of class over a case of the sniffles if I have anything to say about it."

A significantly less irritated Mr. Elmasry is hanging out in the background, trying not to laugh as he's brewing new Pepper-Up Potions. They're going to need a lot.

Welcome back, Gooseberry! It's a beautiful time to be in sunny Utah! The sun is shining, and... well, that's about it. But it could be worse, we could be in Kansas or Nebraska or Idaho or something. I mean, not that those places are bad, sorry if you like those places. I'm not trying to offend anybody. It's just nice to be back.

When do you guys think Mr. Covington will let us say hi to the horses? Will we have to wait until Tuesday? That would suck.
