FRIENDS & FAMILY OF ENISE SCAMANDER (and Otto & Lavender):

Enise turns 18 tomorrow, so this calls for a party. We’ll play some games, have a bonfire in the garden, eat some cake, and just celebrate the fact that Enise is here to be with us and that we’ve had this chance to get to know her.

Since tomorrow is el Día de Reyes too, we’ll have a king cake around, so I hope everyone is prepared to find the baby and bring us tamales on Candelaria. 😈

Since it's nearly time --

Does anyone's families have specific traditions for New Year's Eve? When we're with our mother's family, our abuela has us help her clean the house, get rid of the old, mop the floors, so on. We'll eat 12 grapes at midnight - for good luck, for 12 wishes.

I've heard some places think the colour underwear you have on at midnight sets the tone for the rest of the year, so I'm trying to decide what colour I'm going to have on. I figure another superstition can't hurt.

Enise Scamander here. Is anyone fixing the floo? I’m not sure my parents are going to accept “accidental time travel” as a valid excuse for missing my curfew.

Feliz Día de los Muertos.

It's a big day. Today is when we honour and remember family and friends who have died, and when we celebrate their lives. We spend time together as families in the cemeteries, bringing favourite foods and drinks and other things that remind us of our loved one. The goal is really to encourage the souls of the departed to visit us and hear our prayers. Since we're not in México, I set up an ofrenda on our porch. Usually these are specific to the individual (we have one of those in our backyard), but I tried to keep this one simple. Marigolds, candles, candies, sugar skulls. If you want to stop by with an offering to someone you'd like to remember, you're welcome to. Or you can just come and light a candle and talk to them.

And let me know when you stop by because we can feed you tamales, too.

When it's your birthday and you have a craving but you're not in Mexico, you make yourself a (coffee) tres leches cake:

Do you have any idea how hard it is to work when your shoes keep turning into brightly colored clay? I nearly went flying during my earlier shift.

Michael, be careful, there might be some stuck somewhere at Elementry, I tried to get it all cleaned up but damn.

Hey everyone! Your friendly Dungeon Master here. We should figure out a good time to meet up! The first meeting would be mostly finalizing character creation (especially for those who haven't played before) and game mechanics, so it isn't really necessary if you already know what you want to do/know how to play. But it would be good to get together and work out backstories between your characters and all that.

We'll be in the Forgotten Realms, which is pretty much the standard, fantasy setting. Do people know what sort of character they want to play yet? Or do you need help creating something?

Would anyone be interested in some Dungeons & Dragons? I was thinking that I have time to run a campaign if anyone wants a go.
