Building a Raaport
Characters: Brady and Wren Setting: Governor's office
Wren’s message was the perfect excuse for Brady to get up and stretch his legs. He’d been in the office for way too long already, pouring over notes trying to create a timeline, which really wasn’t easy considering they didn’t even have a definitive time for the attack on the girl during the blackout. He felt personally invested in figuring out who’d done it, though, because he couldn’t help but wonder if it was the same man who’d assaulted Meg. At some point he was going to have to catch up with her, too, but he’d just been a bit too busy to do so.
Brady put it all from his mind, though, as he stood up, stretched, and made his way out of the office, ensuring the door was firmly closed before heading through the tunnel to the elevator. He hadn’t been to the governor’s office yet, so he figured this would be a good opportunity to get a lay of the land, so to speak while getting the statement from Wren. As he reached the room, he knocked his knuckles against the open door and peeked his head in. “Wren?” he called out, recognizing her even though he hadn’t actually talked to her before.
Wren looked up, and gave a polite smile. "Hello." she said. "I don't believe we've officially met." she said, standing. “I’m pleased to meet you.” She walked over to him. "I apologize, if this is disjointed, I have written down all I could, I am uncertain of police procedure, however, and therefore may have missed some things. However, I did take down the details Adam told me, and wanted to get them to you as soon as I could." she explained, holding out the hand written notes she'd taken.
“Nope, we haven’t,” Brady confirmed with a small shake of his head, stepping more fully in the room. He took a quick look around before focusing back on her. “Good to meet you, too,” he said. He’d have offered her his hand, but she’d approached him without doing so, and even though this was some kind of fucked up halfway house, there was no telling how anyone here would react to the standard gesture. As he listened to the explanation, he took the offered notes and skimmed over them. “Oh, so you weren’t a witness to the fight?” he questioned, having assumed that from the tone of her initial message. “This is good, though - thanks for taking down notes.” It would give them something to compare to if and when they questioned Adam about the fight. People often told their friends things more than they’d tell cops.
Shaking her head, she confirmed that. "No. I was informed of it when Adam came by, and I asked him to explain his injuries. I thought it best to write it all down and make an official statement with it, hopefully to help with anything you may require." she explained.
It really wasn’t Wren’s job to take statements from incidents, but Brady definitely wasn’t complaining. At least she’d had the foresight to write down what she was told, it seemed pretty efficient. “Well, it’s appreciated.” He could have just thanked her and been on his way, but after a moment of considering her, he decided not to. “You been having any trouble? Anyone been harassing you or anything?” he asked her, unable to keep from thinking of Meg and Becka, even if he’d not met the second. Neither of them knew who’d assaulted them, but he rather thought it was important to know if any of the women here were being harassed in any way.
"Not currently. I have been getting strange anonymous messages, as I believe everyone has, but nothing has come of them. They're merely strange. The only other trouble I have seen was the altercation I had with Kasper, but I believe she's gone now." Wren answered. "I appreciate your asking. If I get any more messages, should I report them?" she asked, unsure on that.
He nodded at the mention of the anonymous messages. “Right, yeah, the messages. I know I haven’t got any in awhile, so maybe whoever was doing it is gone now. Or they just got bored.” Brady shrugged, not really optimistic enough to think it was done. “But yeah, you get any more anonymous or threatening messages, you let me, Jae, or Aaron know.” He wanted to talk to Mazie about finding a way to disable the anonymous shit because it was just causing problems.
"I don't believe they were getting much of a response from people." Wren said. "I also believe we were possibly meant to suffer in silence, though I put it to the public immediately." she mused. "I will let you know, however. I really appreciate you coming here, and what you're doing to help."
The possibilities Wren put forth seemed plausible to Brady, and he nodded at them. “Yeah, that could be part of it too,” he agreed simply. He nodded again at the appreciation. “Yeah, no problem. And if you need anything, we’re just a message away - or call, I guess, with the new thing with the computers.” He hadn’t tried that out yet, though. “I should head back down, though. Reports to update and all that.”
"I don't want to keep you." Wren said, nodding. "I will message. And if you need anything from me, please don't hesitate. Again, thank you." she said, starting back to the desk. "Have a good day."
