a short meeting
Characters: Evan and Brady
Setting: the courtyard, early afternoon

The brief conversation with Kyle really had all the makings of putting Brady in a horrible mood, but he was surprisingly relaxed about it all. He had no clue what was going on with the kid, and he really didn’t care enough to push. The Administration had wanted them to have a conversation, and so they’d done so, and that was that. The conversation hadn’t really left him in the most sociable of moods, and so after going to the kitchen for coffee and food, he’d returned to his room and wasted a few hours watching tv.

When he finally emerged from his room again, Brady thought he might head to the gym, get in a good workout. He became distracted by the stocks, though, noticing that something was off with them. It took him a few beats of staring at them before realizing that all the hardware was missing from them. He wondered who’d done it, though he didn’t really have to guess at why it was done. He’d still be interested in hearing the logic behind it.

Evan was still wandering around after having talked far more to Mojo than he thought was good. That was twice in the same day. Hell, maybe it was just being around females again. He hated the idea, that he'd really be that soft, but as much as he thought it was a shit idea, the co-ed thing, he couldn't deny being around girls again wasn't easing something inside him. Before he'd gotten himself thrown in prison, his best friend since he was a toddler was a girl. He connected better with them, he guessed.

Pushing it out of his mind, Evan spotted a guy staring at the infamous stocks. He headed in that direction, looking at the things. "I'm guessing they weren't disassembled when people were locked in them." he said.

Although Brady heard the approach, even though it wasn’t particularly loud, his expression and stance remained unchanged. He only glanced over when the guy spoke, and he quirked a brow at the words. “Ya think?” he said dryly. “Not sure who did it or when, though. You new here?” he asked, thinking that he hadn’t seen the guy around before, though he could be wrong. He knew that he hadn’t met most people here by a long shot.

"Yes. I missed out on all this bullshit." he said, still eyeing the things. Who did that? Who set out something that had been not been in use for a handful of centuries? Seemed not only stupid, but baffling in not so fun ways.

“Lucky you,” Brady replied. He nudged the disassembled stocks with the toe of his shoe, thinking there really was no point in them even being there now. They’d been rendered useless. What struck him was why anyone thought that would stop the Administration from doling out a different punishment should anyone misbehave. “So you heard a lot about the bullshit already?” he questioned.

"Read through the journals, got a rundown by a couple different people." Evan replied. "You got any brilliant insights on the current circumstances?" he asked, wondering if simply by being a man he'd have a different point of view than the ladies he'd been speaking with.

Brilliant insights? Somehow Brady didn’t think any insight he’d have to offer would be particularly brilliant. “Maybe. Got any specific questions, cause the current circumstances is pretty fucking broad to offer insight on,” he pointed out, smirking faintly.

"Just got here, so not really." Evan said, shrugging. "I'm just trying to get a feel for what the day to day is like here, what the people are like, what other fucked up bullshit might hit. I'm kind of open to suggestion at this point."

“Eh, things haven’t been all that consistent from day to day. I think even those who have been here from day one are still getting a feel for things, cause things keep getting shook up. As for what other bullshit might crop up, who the hell knows? Never would’ve guessed they’d resurrect these things,” Brady said, kicking lightly at the stocks again. Looking back at the guy, he added, “The people, though - it’s a mix. Some hardasses, some sweethearts, some idiots in way over their head, and a lot in between. Haven’t met near everyone, but you can get a feel in the group shit.”

"Who have you got labeled?" Evan asked, taking on board that things were a toss up on what the day would bring. That wasn't exactly great news, but if he understood the place was absolutely up in the air, he'd at least be ready for anything. He guessed that was better than nothing.

Brady leveled a look at the guy before snorting out a short laugh. He’d essentially labeled everyone he’d met so far, but that didn’t mean he was going to give this guy all his impressions. Especially with not knowing what this guys’ deal was, what he was in for and all that. “Probably better to let you reach your own conclusions on people or some shit.”

Evan looked over. He smiled. It wasn't necessarily a nice one. "Yep. Abandoning new fish to have to figure everything out all on their own with no real direction and not knowing who might be good to avoid is exactly the way to go." he said. "Good job on that." he added, before turning to walk off.

“You just told me you already got the rundown from a couple people,” Brady told the guys’ back, not really caring whether or not he continued on his way.

"I tend to value more than one point of view. If that's all you get? You're fucked." Evan said, still not turning back around, he kept walking.
