The screen zooms in on a man with a too-white grin and blonde hair. He's wearing a suit, and holding a stack of papers as he stares straight into the camera. Behind him on the green screen is the terrorist threat level meter that resembles the confusing thermometer. Although it had been phased out five years prior by the government, it made for better sensational media when they could declare the terrorist threat level at red. The man switches to a somber expression as he begins reading from the teleprompter."This just in... We're getting reports of a terrorist attack in downtown Manhattan. Authorities are describing what sounds like a terrorist attack in the heart of the city in the form of some sort of chemical toxin. It is unknown at this time who is behind these attacks, though it is believed to be the work of reincarnates."
The man shuffles the papers some and tugs at his tie. "Reincarnates have been at the heart of several terrorist attacks over the years, prompting many prominent politicians to argue over the ethical dilemma of dealing with them."
A woman says something off-screen that can't be heard on camera. The anchorman frowns. "Mayor de Blasio has declared a state of emergency, and emergency personnel are currently evacuating the surrounding areas. The total number of casualties has yet to be determined, but witnesses are describing bizarre symptoms. Most profound is a state of uncontrollable laughter right before death, and frozen smiles on the faces of the diseased that many are describing as unnatural. Mayer de Blasio advises that anyone who doesn't need to be out should shelter in place and await evacuation instructions. The chemical attacks are coinciding with a string of robberies around the city that have many speculating that this is a coordinated attack by a large group...."
