Since Katya Ivanova has the whole Friday afternoon free, Mr. Merrill asks her to walk with him to his office right after lunch. Although he tries along the way to be his usual chipper self and set her at ease with jokes, it's obvious once he closes the door that this will be a serious conversation.

Hey love, I'm assuming that Merrill already talked to you, if not well, sorry for ruining the surprise. I've surrendered my badge at the suggestion of Merrill and suggested you of all people out of the cabin to be able to take over for me. I have faith that you will rock this out of the park and be the greatest ever. I'll be here no matter what if you need help with anything or really just support in trying to do the right thing if you need a second brain. I promise it isn't as bad as it seems and honestly I couldn't think of anyone better.

Be good to Addy, yeah? Don't let other Prefects tear her throat out or be generally the worst like some of them were to me during my Prefecting days. If you two need any help I may not have a badge anymore but I have good intentions in life. Not that I suspect you need just a commoners help but hey, I don't know if there has ever been a change in Prefects during the school year so I want to try and make this as painless as possible. I suggested Addy for this, so really I feel like she will be rather great. Hopefully you will too.

So! Tryouts for the school cheer squad in a few weeks! I'm going for that captain position and I'm guessing you are too? Bring it on, girl! But if it's not me, I definitely want it to be you. So what would you think of practicing together? I'm going to shuffle things around and get at least a couple of hours in every day so I'll be as ready as I can be.

Starting Sunday. Tonight I'm going to get drunk off my ass! Probably.
