Tweak says, "i'll get you my pretty"
welcome to dunwich?
But it’s not just any normal parade. This is an all out affair that appears to involve most of the town and its residents. If you’re familiar with Earth history there might even be a kind of nostalgic vibe to the event. The closer you look at the parade, however, the more peculiar it appears. The marching band majorettes, for example, are waving flags with an image of a mutated lobster on it. And the drum corp is dressed like lobsters, banging away at the snare with hands sticking out of their large claws.
There’s a float that rolls by afterwards featuring a teenage girl in a bright pink dress sitting atop a decorative throne. She waves to everyone on the side of the street. “Wow! The pig farm sure crowned a beauty for the pageant this year!” one of the locals says. Sure enough, around the throne are four large swine, devouring slop at the girl’s feet.
A bright blue Cadillac slowly drives after the float. The logo for Dolan’s Auto Shop is written on the side and a man with a wide smile honks toots on the horn which lets out an eerie jingle. After that a group of mimes dance around the crowd. One in front holds up a sign for The Tommyknocker Theatre Troupe.
And so on.
Everyone you try to talk to is friendly. The street vendors offer you free hotdogs and ice cream.
All of it is completely normal.
But then why does it make you feel so uneasy?
If you don't know the drill, that's okay! IC/OOC events can be a little overwhelming when just starting out. I wrote an essay about it here if you want to know what's up.
The coding can be found at Tess's patreon if you want to have it on hand for your very own. ♥ We're Tess stans here.

Eddie wake up.Edward Munson bolted upright from a bad dream. He had to think about it. The last thing Eddie remembered were demobats falling limp out of the sky and Henderson crying over his dying body. Eddie thought he’d done a pretty good job being brave. Dustin was the little brother he’d always wanted. Eddie had set a good example, right?Except maybe the drug dealing part.Henderson was nowhere to be seen, which didn’t make sense at first. Something bad must of happened to make him leave. Something real bad.Eddie got to his feet and staggered a few moments before finding his balance. He had lost a lot of blood, hadn’t he? It would make sense if he was light headed. Unfortunately that didn’t put him in a particularly good condition to help the others or himself. The demobats had shriveled into dried husks like slugs sprinkled with salt. If it was any indication of how much time had passed since Eddie passed out, the wouldbe hero missed it. He stumbled back toward the direction of the trailer park, only instead of home sweet home, Eddie only saw a deep scar of destruction in the fabric of The Upside Down itself.Something had gone wrong. Really wrong. Or maybe right? Maybe this was a good thing?“DUSTIN? STEVE? NANCY? ROBIN?”No answer. The gate that would have taken him back home was lost in the scar. What if he was trapped here now? What if they all were?“GUYS?”He needed to find them.Eddie visited each gate he knew of, and like the trailer park, they were all replaced with a deep scar in the fabric of The Upside Down. Despite the lack of medical attention, food or water, Eddie started to feel less and less lightheaded the longer he was awake.“Okay, think. Think!” But Eddie wasn’t thinking or he might have noticed how old and dry the bloodstains on his clothes were, or how the skin around his injuries had healed over. Instead he was distracted by the falling snow-like ash from the sky, and wondering if his friends were okay. They did it, Eddie thought. They killed Vecna. Only they had to get out fast. Except now I’m trapped here.“FUCK. SHIT. FUCK!”Maybe not. Or maybe the others would figure out a plan to get Eddie out if he was stuck. He started to jog toward the Wheeler’s residence. He could use lights to signal the others. Let them know he was okay.I don't like this.
On the way to the Wheeler residence— there was a fog, right? There had to be. Because Eddie remembered the fog, but not what happened afterward. He didn't notice at first that his blood stained clothing had been replaced with fresh clothing. He was no longer wearing the black bandana on his head. His leather jacket was new, the style slightly different. In Eddie's mind the order went: Upside Down, Fog, the harsh daylight of...?For one glorious moment, Eddie thought he made it home. He was home, he was alive, he no longer felt light headed and everything was okay. No one had pointed a finger at him and screamed "Murder! Satanist!" There was no mob ready to tear him apart. Just a bunch of happy looking people enjoying the start of a parade."Hey, did you drop your phone?" Eddie's attention whipped back to a kid who held something up to him. Eddie took the device but didn't recognize the very thing that had dropped from his pocket.Eddie looked down at the cellphone and frowned, mumbling, "The fuck is this...?"He looked up, the kid who returned his phone was gone. Eddie didn't recognize anyone here. The people, the school marching band dressed as lobsters. The clothing was off. Everything was just off."You're dreaming, Eddie," he mumbled to himself. "Come on, wake up."Eddie gripped the phone in his fist and took a few steps back. He was still dying, wasn't he? He was still back in the Upside Down, Dustin was still crying over his body, and this was it, wasn't it?"Wake up, Eddie," he said.
