act casual!
Characters: Rusty and open
Setting: morning, Block A courtyard

Rusty had gone and grabbed a book from the library. It was part of his attempt to 'act casual'. Which he'd been trying to do since everything went to screaming panic laden hell. He'd been jumping at every shadow since the whole camera incident, he was wired from lack of sleep and too much coffee, and he was fairly convinced he was going to be jumped any time, by big anonymous black armor clad storm troopers who would taze him, then drag him off to drop him down a dark hole for forever. Because the longer he was here the less legit it seemed to be, so his only conclusion was that people who disappeared just got really disappeared.

Oh god. What if the freezer meat was people?!

God, you're starting to even make my shit seem kind and fluffy. Jessy muttered. The voice in his head was more vocal lately too, which wasn't helping his disposition. Or helping him behave even remotely normally, as pretty much anyone who was paying even slight attention would pick out that he was twitchy and the opposite of casual.

Do I really have to say that I don't think this place would take a bunch of prisoners, lock them up together only to feed them ones at random? I know you've watched a lot of horror movies, and they've clearly demented your very soul, but come on. I hadn't thought you were that stupid.

"You call me stupid all the time!" he hissed way under his breath. Yeah, he was freaking out. He didn't usually answer her at all, let alone out loud. Because that was fucking crazy. But he was freaking out, and trying to act normal and he was just a big ball of issues and failure.

Yeah, but I hadn't thought you would rate as straight up Forrest Gump. At least that guy accomplished whole shitloads. What've you done again?

"I am--shut up, he was fictional!"

So are you.

Rusty stopped his paranoia induced stroll toward a bench, where he kept looking around and was clearly muttering to himself. He was wide eyed for a second. "I am?" he asked. "Shit, what if I am?"

Wow. Jessy said after a pause. New low, darling. You've even managed to stun the voice in your head into silence with that shit. Awesome job behaving normally. That hug thing the administration is pulling? Yeah, no one's going to get within ten feet of you today with this shit going on. Seriously. They are going to pretend so hard they can't see you that you're going to think you're the Invisible Woman by the end of the day.

Oh god. Hugging. Maybe he needed to be back in his room. But he'd been in there for what seemed like forever! That was weird, right? Then he paused, frowning slightly as he did make it to a bench. "Don't you mean The Invisible Man?"

I really don't.
