DAY TEN

D A Y T E N

July 13th

W E A T H E R
While outside is muddy, most certainly, the day dawns with the clouds already dissipating. By noon, it’s a clear, bright sunshiney day, with temperatures starting to get more into the high seventies, low eighties.

E V E N T S

Leandro and Charlene have been removed sometime overnight. There has also has been a few incidents. They are as follows:

* Tomatoes thrown at Wren’s door.

* Jeremy's door has the words: "Tangle with the beast, get eaten" painted in black. The remnants of black paints are on the ground near the door.

* Two nooses made of rope from the greenhouse are left in an apple tree, with a patch of the bark carved out into a heart shape, the words: "Mazie + Autumn" painted in the middle.

* The bar in the cafeteria has been rather damaged, with a lot of bottles broken onto the floor.

Each computer monitor blinks with a message. It will not stop blinking until the message is read.

Good Morning

We are very sorry for the night’s mishap with the electricity. We experienced failure of the main power grid as well as the back ups we had in place to prevent the very thing that occurred. We would like to extend our deepest apologies, and if anything is required to aid you for anything that may have happened during the blackout, please do not hesitate to ask.

Beyond that, we would like to again thank everyone for their valuable input. We are currently discussing several different alterations in operations, incorporating what some of you feel is necessary. We appreciate patience in this time of transition.

Regards

The Administration

Another message blinks to life after the first is read.

Please choose three.

Two fellow members of the program you would keep, one you would dismiss. Place your choices in a private entry.

We appreciate your cooperation.

TIME UPDATE

D A Y N I N E

July 12th

W E A T H E R
Rain falls all day. It’s steady throughout the morning, though gets worse as the day goes on. Another violent storm hits late in the afternoon, shutting the power down intermittently. After dark, the power dies entirely, throughout the facility.

E V E N T S

Kevin wakes up in his room.

At approximately 5:00 am, a fire was set to a pile of books in the middle of the courtyard. The pile was approximately 4 feet high and doused with an extensive amount of liquor from the bar, causing the flames to reach higher than actual pile for approximately ten minutes. The fire burnt out around 5:30 am, leaving a pile of ashes in the middle and a singed ring of grass around it.

Each computer monitor blinks with a message. It will not stop blinking until the message is read.

Good Morning

We would like to thank everyone who’s participated lately in activities both on and off the computers. Those who would like to reveal the answer to their two truths and a lie exercise are welcome to do so. Those who do not are entitled to their privacy.

We have of course been noting that many of you are displeased with our way of doing things. As with any new program, there are, of course, expected growing pains. We want you to know that we are taking what’s been said under consideration, and ask that you complete a private journal entry with your own suggestions on punishment, transgressions, self governing and self policing. We can only properly incorporate your wishes if we know what they are.

Thank you in advance for your participation.

The other issue to discuss is the vandalism that has been inflicted upon you all. If you choose to destroy your environment like animals, that is your prerogative. However, we will not be repairing anything broken due to malicious destruction. We will also not clean up the mess. Should you wish to know who it was that did this, and punish them accordingly yourselves, please put that forth in your entries, and we will respond.

Regards

The Administration

Meg receives a message as well.

Miss Mills,
We removed Mr. Ravin in response to the sexual intercourse you engaged in with another participant. Due to Mr. Ravin's psychological profile as well as history, we deemed it appropriate to remove him to ensure the safety of all involved. As per his request, he has also been informed.

TIME UPDATE

D A Y E I G H T

July 11th

W E A T H E R
The storm rages overnight, breaking just before dawn. The clouds clear around midmorning, leaving a clear, if somewhat blustery, day.

E V E N T S

Jun-he’s requested food items are left in a box by the Block A elevator. Also left in the same area is a box of white tape candles.

Evan and Aaron wake up in their rooms.

C O M M U N I C A T I O N S

Each computer monitor blinks with a message. It will not stop blinking until the message is read.

Good Morning

You will find that your room doors will remain locked this morning until 9am. This is to allow us to access the facility with a minimum amount of disturbance to remove Caroline Brighton. Efforts are being made to contact her family and we will ensure a proper burial for her.

The incident of yesterday is much regrettable and we hope that nothing similar will happen in the future. We are certain that you will all work with us to ensure that this does not occur again. We are conducting an investigation into the events surrounding this tragedy. Until this investigation has been completed, there will be no formal punishments given to any inmates by the Administration. This does not mean that conduct will go unpunished. Any transgressions will be recorded to be addressed at a later date, once the internal investigation has been completed.

In the meantime, you will find a box of tapered white candles, as requested, in the cafeteria as we understand that some of you wish to conduct a vigil for Ms Brighton.

Finally, we have a couple of tasks for you today. This morning we ask that you complete a simple exercise before leaving your rooms. This may be familiar to you. It is called ‘two truths and a lie’. Please complete the poll as instructed here and post the poll into a journal entry. Please then consider each other’s answers and vote on their polls. Discussion is, of course, encouraged.

Secondly, we would like to see individuals reaching out to get to know new people. As such, we have assigned you a partner to seek out and talk with today. You may discuss anything - that is up to you.

The name of the person you must seek out is [here is the name of the person on the list below - if you signed up for the scene lottery, if you didn’t, your character simply won’t get this bit of the message!]

TIME UPDATE

D A Y S E V E N

July 10th

W E A T H E R
The skies grow dark stay that way all day, thunder rolling hard from early morning and into the night. Rain pours down from afternoon until well after dark, lightning streaking the sky with the heavy storm.

E V E N T S

The kitchen has been restocked with requested items. The stocks are still in place in the courtyard, though they are probably not the centre of attention in the courtyard today. Caroline’s body can be found from predawn onwards - it is clear she is not only dead, but that she fell from the roof of the building. Blood smears on the sides of the courtyard show where she attempted to climb out.

Some may have heard the sounds of a helicopter just before dawn, or seen the spotlight shining around the roof/courtyard. The sound and light would have lasted no more than 10 minutes. (see this post here)

Wren receives a key to room 43 in Block B, with a note to drop her current room key in the post box.

DAY SIX

D A Y S I X

July 9th

W E A T H E R
The near-perfect weather continues. The sun shines all day long in a clear blue sky. Temperatures peak, mid-afternoon in the low-80s.

E V E N T S

Rusty, Hannah and Eric all wake up in their assigned rooms.

Stocks have been set up in the courtyard. Two sets of sitting stocks (with holes for both hands and feet), made of wood are set up side by side. Each locks in place with a single bolt.

A pile of gifts are left in the cafeteria. These are, as always, boxed and addressed to the person they are each meant for. The gifts are as follows:-

Adam - a new mirror and a new bedroom door.

Autumn - a bottle of expensive perfume. Her usual scent.

Brady - an album containing recent pictures of his children.

Carmel - equipment and supplies to allow the teaching of a self-defence class.

Charlene - a pair of rollerskates and a large collection of opera in mp3 format.

Charlie - his guitar from home.

Edan - a large collection of candles of varying sizes, scents etc, with an array of holders.

Jae - a laser tag set for four players.

Jason - the gauze, handwraps and tape he previously requested.

Kyle - a can of blackboard paint, some chalks and the drawing supplies he requested.

Leandro - a camcorder.

Mazie - a laptop.

Matt - a polaroid camera with film.

Meg - a new computer (with a note saying she should take care of this one).

Rebecka - the quilt she and her grandmother made together.

Reggie - his own set of tools for working on the car, in a tool box.

Susanna - ballet shoes, tights and two leotards. Also a box containing a ballet bar (this will require assembly).

Wren - the magic eight ball which she had been given in the commune.

Wu - a very large selection of fresh flowers, in various bunches, together with a set of shinto prayer beads.

Along with these gifts, each of the above characters also receives a separate package with two further sets of clothes of a style they would choose themselves.

C O M M U N I C A T I O N S
A loud alarm sounds from all computers at 7am, ensuring that everyone is woken up (it will not stop sounding until any key is hit on the keyboard) and alerting them to a new message on the computers.

Everyone receives the same message today:

Dear Community Members,

Yesterday you were asked to post a private journal entry detailing how you viewed events in the facility. If you did that, then there is a reward waiting for you in the cafeteria. Thank you.

If you did not, you will find that your room door will remain locked until you post that entry. It is mandatory. Participation is not optional. You will be able to access the journal and messaging systems as normal, but you will be unable to leave your room until you post the entry.

Yesterday we also informed you that members of this community had committed wrongdoings and we asked them to come forward. Two people did confess to matters they deemed to qualify. We thank those people for their confessions and their bravery in coming forward. They were, however, not the people we had in mind. Those who confessed yesterday will receive no negative punishments as a result.

The two who did not come forward, however, are to be punished. They are Caroline and Ryan. In the courtyard for block A, we have placed the devices of said punishment.

The stocks are an old method of punishment, one that dates back to medieval times. It's simplicity in itself. People do wrong, they get put in the stocks and are punished with physical discomfort as well as public humiliation. If you're going to do wrong in this environment, there will be consequences. Those you have done wrong against will have the opportunity to have you at their mercy for a time, not the other way around.

We have not placed the perpetrators in the stocks ourselves. That, as a community, is your job. Everyone must report to the courtyard by 8am. Caroline should be placed in the stocks and released at around noon. Ryan should be placed in the stocks and not let out until nightfall, due to continued transgressions.

Failure to carry out this mandated punishment will have it’s own consequences.

From here on out, we expect you to confess to crimes you commit whilst part of this program. You have 24 hours to do so for each offense. Self defense, defense of others, or taking any items from public rooms are not considered crimes.

The Administration

Ryan receives a separate message:

We know what you’ve done.

EVENT

E V E N T

July 8th - before noon

E V E N T S
When Dominic Ravin enters the cafeteria just before noon, the elevator opens and several riot geared guards emerge. They quickly taze and carry him into the elevator, removing him from the facility. Room 13 is locked remotely, and will not open even with the key.

C O M M U N I C A T I O N S
On occasion, it will be found that for varying reasons, a participant in this program will be found unsuitable - either temporarily or permanently and they will be removed. Today, due to circumstances within the facility, Dominic Ravin has been deemed unsuitable for this facility. He may return in the future.

DAY FIVE

D A Y F I V E

July 8th

W E A T H E R
The sun shines brightly all day. Not a cloud in the sky, the temperatures are in the high 70s.

E V E N T S

Once again, the map for the facility has been changed. There is now a second block accessible. This is reached from block A via the basement level, where access has been opened up to another elevator at the other end.

Block B is identical in design to Block A. There are, however, clear differences between the two. Whereas Block A’s central courtyard is landscaped and has the feel of a park, the central area of Block B is set out more like a smallholding. There are a variety of plots set out, growing a variety of fruits and vegetables. The plots are as follows:-

  • Herbs: this area grows quantities of most common herbs, all clearly labelled.
  • Roots: this area is growing crops such as potatoes, carrots, onions, pumpkins, squashes etc.
  • Orchard: there is a small orchard which has apple trees, plum trees and a couple of orange trees.
  • Fruits: this area has raspberry and blueberry bushes and other soft fruit plants such as strawberries.
  • Salad stuffs: tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, beetroot etc.

Everything that is being grown is at it’s proper stage for the time of year. There is also a tool shed that is filled with tools required for small scale farming (including supplies of seeds etc needed for future crops) and a greenhouse (around 6ft by 10ft) for cultivation.

There are two communal areas accessible in Block B. One is set up as a workshop, including an old car which can be worked on. Everything that is needed for that is available - and the room is well ventilated. The other communal room is a music room, with a variety of instruments available, including several guitars and a piano. There is also a karaoke machine set up in one corner on a low stage. There are a number of bean bags scattered around the room for people to sit on.

Whilst it is clear that there are two storys to Block B, currently only level 1 is currently accessible.

Charlie is put into the elevator (his blindfold and shackles are removed once he is in the elevator and he is not given any opportunity of talking with any guards etc). He is given a bag containing his clothes and a room key stamped with the correct room number. The elevator goes up and the doors open onto the cafeteria. He is left to find his own way to his room.

C O M M U N I C A T I O N S
Everyone receives the same message today:

Dear Community Members,

Today, we have two important things to discuss with you. One is positive, one is negative.

Here's the bad news first. Unfortunately, even in an environment set up to be free of the normal stresses of prison and allowed freedom to spread out and explore yourselves, some of you have done wrong. Three of you have transgressed against your fellow community members.

One of you has already publicly confessed, which we thank him for, and commend him for his bravery and interest in the community's well being. Because of that, Mr. Somers' punishment is reduced. He is expected to cut the grass, and do other general maintenance/clean up as needed today in the courtyard. This task shouldn’t take more than a couple of hours.

The two remaining offenders are encouraged to confess to the community. You have twenty four hours to step up and do the right thing. Failure to comply to this will be disappointing for everyone, and yield less than positive results.

Now, for the good news. We have today moved onto the second phase of this project, with the opening of Block B of the facility. We are pleased with the progress of this program - despite today’s unfortunate setback. We hope that such punishments are not required on a regular basis. That is, of course, entirely up to you.

As a result of the knowledge of wrongdoing presented today, we ask you all to complete a private journal entry detailing your thoughts and feelings on the matter. This is not an optional exercise. We anticipate that you will take this seriously. It is due by midnight tonight.

Feel free to explore the second Block - which is accessible through the basement level. You will soon be joined by more neighbors. If any of you wish to request a move to a room in Block B, please let us know and this can be arranged.

DAY FOUR

D A Y F O U R

July 7th

W E A T H E R
Today is a cloudy, overcast day. Rain threatens throughout the day, but never materialises.

E V E N T S

A new level has been added to the facility! Accessible only via the elevator, it is a basement level. The panel with the level buttons has been replaced overnight and the new panel has a ‘B’ button showing beneath the '1' and '2'.

The basement level is little more than a wide corridor, with doors down the left hand side. The first door is marked ‘medical facility’, the second ‘laundry’. There are other doors further down, but these are all currently inaccessible (it is not possible for any character to get through these doors).

The medical facility is small, but well equipped. It has a numerical keypad lock. There is a main treatment area with a curtained off examination table. There are two desks, kitty corner to each other, each equipped with a computer. There are also a number of additional chairs.

There are four doors leading off the main treatment area. The one in the side wall also has a numerical keypad lock and this leads through to a store room and small pharmacy. The other three doors are in the back wall and lead to individual patient rooms, for private treatment and equipped with beds, monitors etc for overnight stay.

The laundry is just that - several washing machines and a number of driers. There are also a number of irons, ironing boards etc. A cupboard holds a variety of different powders, fresheners, stain removers and some clothing dyes for a variety of cloth. Baskets for clothes are provided. There is a long table down the middle of the room with chairs down each side. In one corner, a smaller cupboard holds supplies for mending clothes.

On Level One of the facility, one of the previously locked rooms has also been opened. In this large room is a swimming pool. It is rectangular in shape and has six lanes marked at the bottom. It is 25m in length. At one end, there is a sprung diving board (and the pool is deep enough for that to be able to be used safely). The room is lit with daylight lights, and around the edge are padded sun loungers. A small storeroom off the side holds a variety of floatation devices.

Left in the cafeteria are several racks of swimwear, for both men and women, in a variety of sizes and styles. There are at least three or four different suits available for each resident (though not all will be to their personal taste).

C O M M U N I C A T I O N S
Everyone receives the same message today:

Good morning.

We hope you slept well. Please note that the alcohol which you consumed last night has not been replaced.

Please ensure that you check your updated Facility plans today. You will notice some improvements. Some of these are the result of requests highlighted by your fellow residents. One is as a reflection of a good standard of behavior to date. We hope this will continue.

There are also some supplies you may find necessary provided in the cafeteria.

The Administration

Cal also receives the following message:

Dr Royce

Please find your way to the new basement level. There you will find the promised facility. The code is the same as the one for the box. If the code is compromised, please immediately inform us and we will arrange for it to be changed. If you wish to share the code with anyone, then you may. You, however, remain responsible for the medical facility and its contents. We suggest that you may wish to inform Nurse MacKenzie. We have ensured that there is equipment enough for two.

You will find that all of your requests for equipments have been supplied, save that we have not been able to supply the requests polysomnogram. We have provided you with equipment to carry on most testing on site. If you require further more specialised tests, we have provided a box by the elevator on the basement level. This has the same keypad code. Please put any vials, clearly marked, in this box and the tests will be conducted and the results sent to your computer.

DAY THREE

D A Y T H R E E

July 6th

W E A T H E R
It’s a bright day out, partly cloudy. There’s a little sunshower in the early afternoon, but it’s a nice warm day.

E V E N T S
Room 4 is vacated during the night.

The cafeteria has been slightly remodeled! During the night, there have been additions, converting the back wall of the area into a ‘bar’. There’s an actual dark wood bar, with stools. Behind the bar there are cabinets containing bottles of alcohol (wines, beers etc. including those requested specifically) and a short row of optics for the more usual spirits. There is a sink, glasses, a refrigerator with common mixers, drink ingredients, etc. It also comes with a large cabinet stocked to the brim with cartons of different types of cigarettes and boxes of cigars (including those requested specifically). There’s a box full of matchbooks that all read ‘R R I’ on the front.

Left by the elevator are several large boxes. They are labelled - ‘Kyle and Rebekah’, ‘Matt’, ‘Carmel’, ‘Cal’ and ‘Autumn’. The boxes are sealed with tape, but there is nothing that will actually stop anyone else opening them (save for Cal’s box, which is has a combination lock). The contents are as follows:-

Kyle and Rebekah
There are several large boxes containing various art supplies. They are good quality, nothing cheap.

Matt
His box contains a high end digital camera, batteries and a large memory card in the case, along with a printer for his computer and photo paper.

Carmel
This box contains the requested clipboards and notebooks, along with a box of pens.

Cal
Unlike the other boxes, Cal’s box is made of a heavy duty resin. It is sealed and locked with a combination lock. There is no way into this box without forcing it open.

Autumn
By far the largest box, inside is a vintage, sit down two player Space Invaders game.

C O M M U N I C A T I O N S
Any resident who is in receipt of a package receives the following note on their computer:

There has been a package left for you in the cafeteria. We suggest to collect it as soon as possible.

There is a note left on the bar, which reads: Many of you have requested smoking materials and alcohol. We decided to provide you with a more social application of these items. Enjoy!

Cal alone receives a message direct from the Administration on his computer.

Dr. Royce

We have received your request for a medical station within the facility. You are, of course, aware that you are currently without a medical licence and therefore have no actual authority to act. That said, we consider your request a reasonable one and as long as you and the other residents - your prospective patients - are content for you to act as physician then we have no objections to your taking on this role.

You will appreciate that the risk is entirely yours. Furthermore, under no circumstances are you to treat anyone without their permission to do so.

We are working towards providing you with a fully equipped facility. This will take a little time. In the meantime, the box given today contains a full paramedic kit, together with antibiotics, analgesics, antihistamines and other frontline medications which you may need. This should be more than sufficient for your immediate needs. We do not anticipate that there will be any unforeseen accidents or events taking place which should call for more at this present time.

The code for the combination lock is 49855

Ms. DiAngelo

With reference to your latest set of requests, these items have all already been provided within the facility. If you are not aware of this, we suggest that you look into your surroundings and new home rather more carefully.

With regard to your thanks for the package of food, whilst appreciated, this is not necessary. The intent is for this facility to be your new home. Food is a basic necessity of that and does not need to be requested individually, unless you require something unusual. Quite naturally, fresh produce will be provided on a regular basis.

Kind regards

The Administration.
