[good evening, Marina! As the artificial sun cruises on towards the artificial horizon and the shadows begin to lengthen, someone has finally finished setting up a small table outside of a lovely home in Sector 4. On the table, several different kinds of autumn vegetables, including beets, carrots, turnips, and and cabbage, are carefully arranged. The garden, seen behind the table, takes up what was once the large front lawn of the house. Around the base of the table sit a collection of ripe, orange pumpkins (of course).]

[WV is standing behind the table, wearing a beaming smile despite his arm still bandaged in its sling. He addresses the communicator:]

Greetings, fellow denizens of this prison! My garden was first begun and subsequently tended to in an effort to lead a more self-sufficient existence. I trust that you will all be inspired by its successful Earth cool-season yield. Please, do visit and admire the vegetables, and select some to consume in your homes.

Yeah, I'm not buying into the whole "inmate" thing, no matter what this stupid computer says. I'm not a criminal and I'm willing to bet there are a ton of people here that this things's wrongly accused, too.

[ yukari's muttering to herself, wandering around one of the hallways and seemingly completely wrapped up in whatever it is she's doing. which ... is getting lost. at least it's not that dark any more; darkness is a yukari's worst enemy, don't you know? she could be down by the cafeteria, or the library, but she'll basically be wandering around all day, so feel free to have your characters bump into her at any time in any place because her insatiable curiosity is going to drag her around everywhere. especially the shopping area. ]

Hey, so—What's the deal with this "Sentience" thing, huh? What kind of mistakes did it make? [ there's a pause as she leaps out of the path of one of the bots, a curious expression on her face. ] Ugh, and what's with all the robots? This place doesn't function like any prison I've ever heard of. This seems more like... I dunno, some kind of weird vacation facility or something. Seriously, what kind of prison has a dance club?

( ooc: oh my god this is so, so so so so so so late. i got hit with a monstrous sinus infection literally the DAY after i ooc intro'd that knocked me flat on my ass, and since then i've just been laying around being pathetic. but now that i feel a lot better, let's do this thing!!! *w*9 )

[It's been another busy day, from breakfast on through his chores, but now he's back in his room and left alone with his thoughts about how everything has gone wrong back home. Anyone else might seek out someone to talk to about it, but Moji is not anyone else, and that's the last thing he wants. Instead, he picks a neutral topic to engage people. He chooses voice to hide the obvious bags under his eyes, hoping to avoid questions about his well-being.]

I'm curious about the passage of time here. I've heard a few people say it seems to move more slowly here than in their home world, and I wondered about your theories on that. Is it that time really does move differently on this world, or just a side effect of being taken from our daily lives and responsibilties and having so much more time on our hands?

We may never know the truth, of course, but it's interesting to think about.

[There's a short but noticeable pause, and Dist clears his throat before he at last speaks.]

The idea occurred...

[A sigh.] The idea occurred for a potential machine shop. Repairs and the like, but is there an interest or need for it? Would anyone need something made or fixed?

[Naoto looks considerably confused, all things considered. One hand is on her hat, tugging it down into place, adding to her boyish image, and she frowns a little. the date is wrong. she's fairly certain the date is wrong, but-- she'll ask. it's all she can do, at the moment.]

Is it really the 135th day? [her voice is a little uncertain, but her tone is still crisp and businesslike. she cuts the feed, not quite sure how to phrase any other questions she has.]

[He’s dusty, dirty, covered in blood, but he’s still calm as he takes in the situation. This isn’t the time to get angry—it’s not the time to lose his cool as M-24 would say—but he can’t stay here. The gift basket is almost mocking him—a little consolation prize for being royally fucked over. The only reason he doesn’t smash it under his heel is because it might be useful.

And from everything he's heard so far, he doesn't think he'll find a fine print that says "And this is how you escape." He turns on the communicator, a little frustrated.]

I guess breaking the warden to get out of here isn’t going to cut it, is it.

[Not a question. It’s the obvious first response. How to get out. How to defeat the one holding them there. But it won’t be that simple, he can tell. But he's been listening. He's heard some of what others were saying to the "newbies." Guess he's one of them.]

Che. [damn it.] Is there a way to figure out what’s happening back where we come from? Or do we have to go straight to the head? [He was in the middle of something important and if he can’t get back there now, he really needs to know what went down.]

[ and now, for everyone's listening pleasure(?): a rather hesitant voice articulating very, very mechanically slowly and clearly. ]

Play. Rewind. Stop. Play. Play. Ah... LED... light? Recorder -- ?

[ pause; yes, yes it is a recorder and not an old school voice-command operated music-player. ]

Test. Ka-ke-ki-ko-ku. Sa-se-shi-so-su.

One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. Seven. Eight. None. Ten.

Zero... one. Zero-One. Zero-One. Zero-One.

Mi... Misato. Katsuragi. Misa ---

[The tone of the speaker is aggravated and condescending. This is someone who won't easily accept the predicament he's just found himself in. Not without ample proof.]

[It's a ruse. It has to be. After all, there's no way it could be true. Someone's captured him, sealed his fon slots, and cast some sort of illusion over him using the first fonon. That has to be it. It makes sense considering he defected from the Order, considering how that man keeps extending his offer. If he'll only cross a sea of corpses. Corpses, huh?]

...Is this someone's idea of a joke? I don't have time to play games with you people! Return my sword and undo the seal unless you're all willing to pay with your lives.

[Meanwhile Asch is kneeling down in the middle of the graveyard. For a while now he's been trying to figure out a way to remove the ball and chain from around his right leg, but he hasn't made any progress. Not even after fishing through the welcome basket for stuff to help it slide better. None. Unless getting even more frustrated counts.]

[The video turns on to focus on a girl with bright brow eyes and her hair up in pigtails. Her lips pursed together before she finally spoke.]

...Okay, I think I'm doing this right...I'd like to say thank you to the people who gave me the welcome basket, the pamphlet was especially informative and I appreciate the gift. I must say though, it's kind of odd since I hadn't actually been accused of these crimes back home. I guess there's no use in complaining though~

Can anyone give me some more information on this place an how it works? I'd really appreciate it♥ Preferably over breakfast since I'm kinda stuck here with everyone else?

[ there's a note posted on the board in the shelter. it reads:

You, a pregnant woman and a convicted murderer are on a boat that is sinking.

Only two of you can survive.

Who lives?

the note is in precise, straight print and is unsigned. other cards and pens lay near the board. ]

[The video flickers on and the screen reveals Tamaki sitting on one of the sofas in the shelter common room fiddling with a rose in one hand and looking as though he is in very deep thought. His face is serious for most of the time before he begins speaking, but after a good thirty seconds his expression changes to something between a smirk and a smile while he glances at the camera from the corner of his eye.]

In this world there are those who are blessed with beauty and grace, the greatest gifts God could have ever bestowed upon a living creature. [He raises the rose he'd been holding to his nose and takes a good long sniff before setting it down and turning his attention back to the camera.] I, for one, thank the heavens above everyday that I am one of those fortunate few in possession of such rewards. That is not the message that I have for you all today, however. You see, it is my belief that the duty of these people with such exquisite looks to bring joy to everyone around them in any way they can - a duty which I place before all other things in life.

[Another pause, this time so that he may close his eyes and imagine lines of women admiring him and men doing all that they can to be him. It is a wonderful fantasy and it makes him chuckle lightly.]

A Host Club is a club designed for the specific purpose of sharing this beauty and giving such joy to its visitors - in short it is the perfect setting for carrying out the heavy task of bringing all the happiness in the world to those less fortunate than us! For this reason I have made the decision to establish one here in this prison as some of you may already be aware! [Suddenly, his arms shoot off to the sides as if he were welcoming everyone to step into his arms for a great big hug.] I would like to invite all those who might be interested to join us and utilize your gifts to the best of your ability! I am certain that among all of you watching this today there are plenty who are worthy of the title of 'Host'!

[And as an after thought, Tamaki turns his face away from the camera, brings the rose up to his mouth and just mumbles the next few words. They aren't really something he's proud of.]

We will even accept Hosts of the female persuasion.

[the feed displays a young adult, somewhat androgynous, leaning more towards male than anything else. he? has a serious look on his face, hat pulled up slightly to show exactly how serious said look is.]

My name is Naoto Shirogane. I received the welcoming materials for this prison, and they were appreciated; I would like to thank Euphemia li Britannia and Lelouch vi Britannia for their assistance.

[a brief pause then before the youth continues, tone changing a little to become slightly more businesslike.]

I am curious as to who ave Acumen the authority to arrest and prosecute crimes that should be under an entirely different jurisdiction. Any crimes that I stand accused of should have been tried under the Japanese judicial system, in accordance with the standing laws there. All crimes would have been committed under that system and should therefore stand trial there, if enough evidence to prosecute was collected.

[there's another pause where something almost like a falter happens, Naoto's expression changing slightly-- becoming a little bit softer, maybe. More unsure. All the facts are still adding up to being in prison, as unfair and unjust as that seems, and that thought is a dead weight in Naoto's stomach.]

...Additionally, is there anyone else from Inaba present in this facility? [the feed clicks off before Naoto's hopes can reveal themselves.]

[There is a very somber Naoto walking in a circuit around Marina today. You could consider it patrol, and she IS keeping vigilant. Half of the time. The other half is spent worrying and generally feeling rather dismal.

She doesn't feel as though she's accomplished much of anything, and all her friends are still missing. Talking with Acumen again will get her nowhere. She just needs to clear her head some.

You can catch her in just about any sector, depending on the time of day - hands in her pockets and looking generally downtrodden.]

Attention, please everyone. I need some information from you all that will hopefully prove useful in our investigation of this phenomenon that has swept the prison. I would like everyone that has not suffered any symptoms of this wave of exhaustion to please come forward. I would like to compare these individuals against those that are currently experiencing extreme exhaustion, to see if there's some psychological or physiological reason for it. You may also give me the names of others if you are absolutely certain that they have been feeling no exhaustion whatsoever.

If you are one of the individuals suffering from the outbreak of the pentacles, and were previously healthy, please also say so.

[Private to the Defense Force]
I'm going to compare those that come forward against my profile, to see if anything fits. At this point, it's likely a shorter list than those affected. Our unsub is someone gathering energy for some larger purpose, likely an attack on the prison itself. At this point, if they are clearly unaffected, it would stand out. Of course, those that do say that they aren't feeling tired at all will need to be verified by us.

SOMEONE HELP! Kaoru needs help! Please!

[Hikaru screams at the top of his lungs in a panic, eyes watering. His emotional levels have gone over 9000. He's noticed some of the others, but hasn't really paid any mind to them. But Kaoru?? No, it couldn't be him too! He refused to believe it!]

Kaoru... please wake up! Don't leave me here alone. I need you...

To those of you on the Defense Force, and to Rise-chan, it is imperative that I speak to all of you at some point today. I know recent circumstances will leave you with other matters on your plate, but this is of some importance. I also ask that this be allowed to take place in a single meeting and that Rise-chan be present, since this concerns her as well.

Excuse me, ah... citizens of Marina?

I would like to know if anyone has heard from the following individuals recently: Seta Souji, Hanamura Yosuke, and Satonaka Chie.

They are all teenagers, aged sixteen to seventeen, hailing from Inaba, Japan. I've been unable to get in contact with them for some time now.

Rise-chan, I know you're still here, but if you'd respond as well it would make me feel more at ease.

...And if I could speak to one of the Defense Force members privately for a moment, I'd appreciate it.

Thank you.
[The 58th Day]
12 April 2010 at 04:38 pm
Good morning, inmates. It is the 58th day of the third generation.

It has come to my attention that there are concerns about the replacements that have been situated in your timelines for the duration of your sentence here. I would advise that they be brought directly to myself, and that you not be alarmed by the words of inmates who know no more about the situation than others. Their progress is constantly monitored, and no signs of abnormalities or faulty behavior have been noted.

The plant kiosk requested by inmate Setsuna Seiei has been established in Sector 5. If there are any special requests, they may be made to myself or the remote unit situated there.

Inmates Axel, Franziska von Karma, Chuck Bartowski, Haruhi Suzumiya, and Ashton Anchors; the items you requested have arrived. They are at the entrance to Sector 0.

((ooc: Acumen will not be responding to comments until a little later in the evening. Thanks for your patience!))

[Jun isn't feeling so good. It's not the storm, but he's had a little too much time to think. So he's gone to the educational center, where Acumen had told him there are violins. It's been a little while--he hasn't had much time, of late--but he doesn't think he's too rusty.

He picks up one, and begins to play. Occasionally he messes up--sometimes more obviously than others--and starts over again. From the beginning.

He'll do this all night, until it's right. Unless someone bothers him.]

...and I'm going to assume that a wolf running off with the ball is a home run! Wow, no one is seeing that ball again anytime soon.

Uh, okay, then that means the Flying Knights win, with a narrow but rousing victory of 12 to 11! We saw a lot of amazing work out there today, you guys, from EVE's meteoric home run in the third to Suzaku's wall-dashing spin-catch at the top of the eighth! And just think -- next time Ryu will know what direction to run in, so we can expect even better things.

Anyway! Everyone give our players a round of applause, and our cheerleaders, how about those lovely girls and guy! They really know how to bring the spirit to the field, and the skirts look great on you. All of you. Especially you...... [a long, significant pause] ...Josak.

Hahaha, I've been Gino Weinberg, and this has been your first -- of hopefully many -- big game of the Marina baseball league. See you guys later!
