Inmates old and new:

Have you found Marina Asylum's current criminal detention and rehabilitation program to be effective?

Or somewhat erroneous and
obsolete?

[Cielo appears on the viewscreen next to a small pile of what appears to be childrens clothing. He lifts up a small sundress, white with red polka-dots and a pink ribbon around the trim.]

What'chu tink? I t'ought Sentience might like sumtin' cute ta wear, ja? Dey have all sorts a' little clothes dat might fit her.

[This probably should have been filtered from the A.I. in question... but it isn't.]

[She is a bit shaky this morning, but Rin waking up in an empty bedroom made her worried.]

Has anyone seen Len lately? He isn't in his bed when I woke up or I haven't heard from him in a while.

Not to mention......I haven't heard from Adrianna either...

Excuse me-- [ ahem ] I don't recall purchasing a bluetooth, but it seems this is marginally different, isn't it?

This certainly is a surprise, though. I'd have hoped for a hospital, but I suppose a prison wouldn't be that much different. I suppose I'll just have to hope that this is broadcasting, hmm?

[ and a low chuckle ]

What odd circumstances I seem to have found myself in, though. I don't suppose I can complain, but as I understood it, the justice system wasn't nearly so corrupt in Japan. Imprisonment without a trial? Jumping the gun, don't you think?

[ it's quiet for a moment then ]

I don't suppose there's a pay phone around here, is there? I'd like to make a call, but seem to have lost my mobile.

And if not that, then at least a vending machine where I can purchase some cigarettes. I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

[ooc; replies may be sporadic - more on that to come shortly in the OOC comm, but rest assured that they will come!]
The 65th Day
31 May 2010 at 08:57 pm
Good morning inmates. It is the 65th day of the third generation.

I would bring attention to a change in the policy regarding video footage, implemented due to continuous inmate demand for video discs. All requests for footage of events occurring in one's world will be refused, save for extenuating circumstances. This system has deemed these requests to waste facility resources, as they have grown far more prolific than they were ever intended to be, and feels they are an unnecessary indulgence brought about by the obsolete Sentience system's emotional defects.

Requests for inmates Orihime Inoue and Soubi Agatsuma have arrived and can be received at the entrance to Sector 0.

[This...had seemed like a much more organized, purposeful idea when she was browsing around the network a few days ago. A chance for like-minded computer users, or just plain supporters of Sentience, to just...mingle. Share ideas. Hang out. Like any forum discussion.

Except it was in person, and so Lain felt terribly awkward. She waited anxiously in the computer lounge, sitting hopefully with a box of snack cakes left out on the center table, on the verge a silent, motionless panic attack.

She didn't know anything about organizing group face meets! Even if some distant, foreign part of her recalled being the most popular girl at Club Cyberia.

Maybe nobody would bother to show up.

That would make her feel terrible though, because she...desperately wanted more friends, real friends. She also desperately wanted Sentience to feel affirmed, even if the AI was declared obsolete and wasn't asylum warden any longer. And after...after whatever she'd managed to say without thinking, the other day...

That other Lain, the one she'd thought was banished along with the Wired...seemed to be waking up again and making trouble.]

So. Who wants t'explain to Lavi what an "internet" is? Small words, though, guys; I'm a century behind most of you.

Dunno if anybody heard, before... but Acumen confirmed the Earl's still hangin' around. Though, after yesterday, don't think anybody doubted that.

[It was gradual, like he was waking up from a normal sleep, not the near coma he'd been in for the past day or so. Sounds... smells... sensations all creeping into his consciousness as he became aware of his surroundings again. Just what had happened? He'd been at Neil's... he had thought about going because Lyle had seemed overwhelmed but...

No. He actually did leave. He didn't remember making it to the apartment, though. This definitely didn't sound like it should, either. In fact, it sounded a lot like the hospital. He opened his eyes slowly, noting immediately the difference in his vision without his glasses. Someone had taken them off, but who and where had they put them? He really didn't want to have to get them replaced...]

[OOC: I only ask that the eventual thread with Rei remain closed. Otherwise, feel free to pop in and visit... threadjack other threads... visit in groups... whatever. He'll be out by the end of the day, anyway, if not sooner.]

Attention, please everyone. I need some information from you all that will hopefully prove useful in our investigation of this phenomenon that has swept the prison. I would like everyone that has not suffered any symptoms of this wave of exhaustion to please come forward. I would like to compare these individuals against those that are currently experiencing extreme exhaustion, to see if there's some psychological or physiological reason for it. You may also give me the names of others if you are absolutely certain that they have been feeling no exhaustion whatsoever.

If you are one of the individuals suffering from the outbreak of the pentacles, and were previously healthy, please also say so.

[Private to the Defense Force]
I'm going to compare those that come forward against my profile, to see if anything fits. At this point, it's likely a shorter list than those affected. Our unsub is someone gathering energy for some larger purpose, likely an attack on the prison itself. At this point, if they are clearly unaffected, it would stand out. Of course, those that do say that they aren't feeling tired at all will need to be verified by us.

I think Acumen knows who is responsible for all of these fatigue problems, and that risk of this threat happening was at 15%, but he won't release that information to anyone but the Defense Team leader because of inmate privacy protocols.

I didn't even know we had rights to any kind of privacy here.

In response, I've relinquished inmate confidentiality on my personal files. Information should be free and decentralized- Levy's 3rd and 4th commandments of The WIReD social ethos.

[There's a low grow, followed by breathing.

Then you may hear Cielo humming this. Repeatedly. It's really the only song he knows. And if Sera was actually here...

He, as well as the floor of his cell, is covered in blood from what he's already eaten today. His eyes are glowing yellow, not their usual blue, but aside from that he seems to be calm for now. If he focuses on the song, it helps a little.]

[OOC: Since it isn't needed for a bunch of people to take one person to the hospital, first come gets it. Also, if someone wants to jump in, just threadjack. It'll be easier than having more than one thread for now. I don't want to get more than four people, though, otherwise posting order gets whacky and it'll take too long to finish. ^_^;]

[Tieria has managed to get out of Neil's house in the confusion, since almost everyone there is affected in some way. Neil and Lacus are also exhibiting symptoms of the sleeping epidemic, Setsuna is injured... and Tieria is feeling a bit like a burden to Lyle now that he has so many to take care of. Determined to not be a burden, he's headed off with the intention of getting back to the apartment.

He doesn't make it before he finally succumbs completely to the exhaustion, passing out half-way back to the apartment.]

[Voice | Open | FROM REI'S COMMUNICATOR]

I require immediate assistance. Tieria Erde-san has collapsed. Anyone who can assist me in transporting him to the hospital, please respond.

[When Len woke up this morning, he felt a little better than yesterday. Yes, he could barely move, but at least he could stay awake... But the things was, how did he end up in the hospital? The last thing he remembers is talking to Adrianna and then... Nothing, he can't remember anything else. It looked like it was a new day already... He wonders how long he has been gone, and if Rin knew he was there. So he picks up the communicator and asks.]

...Does anybody know why I am in the hospital...? I cannot remember...

[Private to Rin]

Rin? I am sorry I was not at home yesterday...
The 61st Day
03 May 2010 at 08:12 pm
Good morning, inmates. It is the 61st day of the third generation, and this system notes that several inmates show improved life signs this morning.

Today, criminals apprehended in the new incarceration system shall be arriving in the facility. There are a fair number of them, but there is no cause for alarm as they will be integrated gradually in order to keep disruption in your daily lives to a minimum.

Also, requests can be retrieved at the entrance to Sector 0 for the following inmates: King Ashura, Jalyt-Ket-Hur, and Risa Koizumi.

I am letting everyone know, if anything happens, or just if anybody wants to talk.

I will be awake on the network tonight, until Acumen makes his announcement.

The defense team is trying their best to be cautious, but I will help and listen over the network. If you feel sad, or afraid, or just lonely...I'll stay connected.

I can open a private channel, if you would prefer that.

I am Lain, and I will be here.

[He's on edge. Two days seems to be the limit. Cherry had his chains off in two days.

That means a certain someone may have had his removed, too.

That means he needs to keep Cherry occupied. But how? He's having problems even wanting to leave the house today. So he's in the house--said person can't enter if he doesn't let him.

Time to get things rolling.]

Hmm... How about a fun game~? I'll create a scenario and you can answer on what you would do if you were stuck in it.

Let's say you find out you have an admirer. Now, you don't like the person that way, but they're pushy. Maybe they won't take no for an answer. What would you do?

And don't be afraid to ask in return. It's a fun distraction.

I just thought it would be wise to make a public announcement about this, in case anyone hasn't overheard. If you or someone you know are suffering symptoms of exhaustion or intense depression, please speak up. There appears to be something of an epidemic going around, and it's important to know who's affected and what they're going through. This also applies if you've seen anything unusual late at night.

It could be related to last night's attack, so be careful, and I'd advise everyone to stay indoors at night. Especially if you live near the shelter. [...or if he knows you]

Hey hey, Mikado, gimme your shoe, let's see if it'll take that too.

[surely nothing bad will come of this. Come harass the two boys harassing the trash bot?]

It feels so much better to be rid of those awful shackles. How many other people had to endure that for three days?

No time to celebrate. There is work to be done.

[Screened to Grell Sutcliff]
Good morning, Grell. Put on your best face because we'll be seeing each other today. Where do you wish to conduct the meeting?

[Screened to Charles Chrishunds]
Unhindered, now would be ideal to get together so we could have a private conversation regarding specific issues.

[The video clicks on to Jalyt brandishing a large cookbook and shouting.] Hey, Marina! What recipes should I try first?!

[Yes, she knows most people are asleep at this hour. But she's been locked in this room with nothing to do but read the cookbook she snitched from the library. And now that she's done that she's desperate to cook something. Distractions from boredom, please.]
