Al & Frankie

WHO: Al Potter & Frankie Longbottom
WHAT: Hanging out
WHERE: That's a Wrap/Grand Opening
WHEN: Saturday afternoon sometime before he visits with Aunt Fleur.
RATING: PG

Al felt guilty. He barely spoke to some family members, he reluctantly accepted Scorpius' invitation to hang together, he didn't seek Mr. M out, and he even got snippy over the journals sometimes. He guessed some people might blame his anger on what happened to him and his friends in the caves, but he knew it was more than that. Sure, that experience was hellish, but Albus didn't expect it to happen again. Oh, he wasn't naive enough to think the village wouldn't erupt with evilness and chaos again, but he liked to think he was smart enough to prepare for the next time. What was the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results? Well, Al wasn't going to remain defenseless while in the village. He lived there long enough to know hiding only went so far. It was time to prepare, which was exactly why he sought Ms. Susan's help with sharpening his fighting skills.

So why was he so angry? He wasn't even sure he knew why. Living in the village was no one's fault. Popping in and out of the village was no one's fault. The different periods screwing with everyone's minds was no one's fault. He knew most everyone was doing the best they could with what they had. So what was his deal? Why did he resent everything so much? It was easier joking about colored loo paper with Uncle Gideon and Rolf to trying to explain his feelings. Somewhere along the way he grew tired of not being heard so he stopped talking at all. Some people, like Gilderoy and his cousins and some of his uncles, got the story in bits and pieces, but, mostly, Al kept quiet. He didn't even try broaching anything with his siblings; he didn't want to bother them.

It was easier to avoid the people who reminded him of home so he usually did just that. He couldn't remember the last time he saw Frankie outside of school so seeing his friend heading toward him made him groan. He hoped Frankie didn't hear. He bit his lip. He couldn't get out of this one; he suspected Frankie wanted to go on about Ava, but that just reminded Al of Helena and how...well, how unsure Al was about that friendship. It wasn't her fault. Al messed up with his first - and only - girlfriend back home too. Maybe he wasn't meant for that sort of stuff. Why was he so different? He sighed. He knew he couldn't get out of seeing Frankie so he waved. "Hey." He knew Scorpius would show up soon too. Oh, awesome, just awesome, he was in for a day of reminders.
