Livejournal recently suspended my accounts without reason and without explanation. I opened a support ticket about it but my questions are going ignored and they aren't responding to me. I've kept asking them about it in my ticket but I gave up. I can't understand it, I did nothing to deserve a suspension. I didn't think that debating with people and arguing were a bannable offense but I could be wrong. I don't know if someone kept flagging me or what. I wasn't the only person suspended that day either Maybe someone here can shed some light on the situation?

Oh Christ. What was your journal name over there, out of curiosity?

I'm still totally disgusted that they did this to you. I actually bought my permanent accounts here and on LJ in 2005, but I really wish I hadn't got one over there now since they're being so stupid. I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this ♥
I don't know what comms you were in...no offense, but based on what you said, that's pretty vague. And it could very well be that LJ is being an asshole - they suspended a mod at ljsecret because she posted a secret with questionable content (underage nekkid models or something). She didn't create the secret, just posted it as mods do. They've since reinstated the mod's journal, but now ljsecret is being censored somewhat. So I understand if you're not comfortable giving out the specifics of your situation, but you didn't really give out any info that might help figure out what went on.
I was in some drama communities but as far as I could tell no one from them got suspended. I don't know if it's because they're cracking down on content and I have Lolita as an interest or what. I just don't know.
Like stupid_free, sf_drama or something? I took those comms off my Friends page because all the idiocy was clogging up my F-list. Anyways, sometimes the mods ban members for violating rules within the community, but it's usually not something LJ itself suspends journals over. I don't think listing Lolita as an interest should have done anything either, especially given the first suspension fiasco. I'm sorry. It sucks that they have a ban first, ask questions later, but they should get back to you soon, because like I said with the ljsecret mod, LJ did reinstate her journal.
You're not the only one who has had that happen to them. [info]techno_goddess is another. She hasn't figured it out either.
I'd like to alert others on the LJ comm Innocence_Jihad about these bans. Do you think [info]techno_goddess would mind if I let others know what LJ did to her?
Augh, God, it begins again. Poor Squeaky's going to end up running the biggest journaling service on the Internet at this rate. Dunno what to tell you, except that I'm entirely unsurprised it's happening again, and I hope you can at least get your stuff back. *HUGS*
Were you a paid/permanent member of LJ? If so, it might be worthwhile to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, saying that LJ won't give you any information on why our accounts were suspended (and suspended you without warning). As a part of resolving the complaint, LJ may give you that info. (Of course, they could always ignore the complaint, too, but doing so reflects poorly on them in the BBB's eyes.)

Also, I thought LJ was doing the strike system...I don't suppose any of your accounts had strikes against them previously? IIRC, they're supposed to notify you of those.
I was involved in some race wank last year where a racist reported me and I got suspended for a short time.
LJ/SuxApart aren't even registered with the BBB. I checked.
Would you mind if I alerted others on LJ comm Innocence_Jihad about this ban? I'll link to this posting also.
Sure, go ahead.
Oh Hey! (It's crazykimmy on LJ)

That sucks totally.

OMG HAI

Add me?
about not replying to support requests:

They're *swamped* right now. I've got a request over a week old (about the interests that are blocked from searching); they answer "easy" questions quickly (like, "how do I upload a userpic" or "howcome someone friended me if I don't like her") but questions about policies and abuse decisions take longer.

Not offering excuses, just saying that a 3-day delay doesn't *necessarily* mean they're ignoring you.
I really hope this is true. I was a paid user, they do owe me at least an explanation.
God only knows what happened over there, but welcome to IJ!
That is really strange. Something similar happened to me because of an argument that got out of control with someone else and led to them harassing me offline, but it was a couple of years ago and at that time LJ sent out automated emails saying "Well you both violated the notice of no contact" and so on. After a while they did completely stop responding to my emails where I was asking for explanations after sending me form letters saying the same crap that basically meant even if something is not in the TOS they can do what they want or interpret it anyway they want, and "Paid accounts are non-refundable and non-transferable."

suckage

I am real sorry to hear that happened to ya though not surprised. Not that it happened to ya personally since I don't know ya, just not surprised that people are getting suspended.
2007-- the year of suspension from LJ.

It bites.
Oh sure, we "rent" space and a private company can do as they wish with their TOS and so forth.

It still bites.

You should still be able to use the "export journal" feature to get entries from a suspended journal (no comments or graphics, unfortunately). Go here:

http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=8

You download one month at a time. Save them all in a folder that you will be able to get to later. Save them in both forms (csv and xml). There is a way to convert these that I am working on, but I don't have time to play with it right now. But get your files before they dump them!

Later in January (semester break) I'm going to figure out how to convert the files and I'll post. Of course, you could just copy/paste them the way they are. But there are Perl scripts online that do this. I just haven't set up a Perl shell yet and don't have time right now.
That's rather nice. I'm currently moving my entries over by hand and that's rather annoying. Fortunately I'm only going after entries I deem 'important' and am just scrapping random memes. Still.... it would be nice to be able to just have a few button clicks to convert all my LJ entries over to IJ...
Yeah, I remember reading somewhere about your accounts getting suspended (along with someone else's account). That's just horrid :(

I have a paid LJ account that expires in July. I don't plan on re-newing and have turned off my automatic payments and have now bought a permanent account here at InsaneJournal. LJ has pissed me off *so* much and the deletion of journals like yours without any explanation is just the final straw. I won't delete my LJ since I have friends who refuse to re-locate that I want to keep in touch with, but the hell I'm going to give LJ any more of my money....
