[info]dreaswheels

Character: Drea
Where: Her room, the library, then room 5

Drea backed away from her computer, not quite sure what to think of what she'd seen. Aside from the fact that there really was a bar downstairs, at least. But they had to play a little game to get access to it. "Oh, there's no way this could go wrong at all, is there?" she muttered to herself as she began thinking. Since she was still probably one of the slowest people around, she didn't want to go far and get caught. Nope, that would be bad. She'd always been good at stealth before, but that was when she was a little more... bipedal.

Opening her door, she peeked out to see if anyone was out there, and heard a clink against one of her wheels. She looked down to find a dumbbell. It wasn't a particularly huge one, at least, and she shoved it aside for the moment. It'd probably be there when she got back. The closest place looked like the library. She wasn't just a huge reader, so she hadn't really taken the opportunity to explore that room yet. And now was as good a time as any, she supposed.

The library was actually fairly impressive. It had quite the assortment of books, from non-fiction to reference to fiction and even children's books. There were a couple of places that were a little tight for her and her chair, but she managed okay. She couldn't really peek at anything too high up, but she didn't really need to, as she saw one that just made her laugh. And she had no idea why. But that big "S" shield against the blue background of the spine was hard to miss, and sure enough, there was Superman himself on the cover of what looked like a collection of comics. "Good enough for me," she said as she headed out. She'd noticed that Room 5, right next to hers, still hadn't gotten anything, so she dropped the book just outside it before heading back into her own room. She contemplated picking up the dumbbell, but she decided that it was probably best to leave it for now. Hopefully everyone else was playing nice. Because a beer sounded kind of good. One wouldn't hurt, right?

Fun and Games

Characters: Angel
Setting: Block A

This game was a little silly, sort of like matching met hide and seek, but he was still playing. Because there was a bar waiting and Angel could use a strong drink. He started in the kitchen wandering around until he found something that worked, then wandered down the hall dropping the spatula in front of Room 3. He didn't know who's room it was, but hey, it was close and there didn't seem to be anything in front of it yet.

Then he looped around and headed back towards the kitchen to make some food, curious if anyone would join him this time.

Doing his part

Character: Matt
Setting: Block A

Although he felt there was little for him to benefit personally by gaining access to the basement, Matt knew he was likely to be in the minority and saw no reason to deny anyone else the opportunity so as soon as he was showered and dressed, he had headed out of his room to find something with which to carry out the task. Not planning on looking for anything in particular, he found himself wandering over to the pool and wound up fishing a life-preserver out of the store room. It was easier to decide where to leave it, his thoughts having frequently flicked to Kyle since his meeting with Ru and Zach, and he carefully lent the ring against the door frame of room 1 before ducking into the kitchen to get himself some breakfast.

On returning to his room, he found the copy of Lady Chatterly's Lover outside his door and smiled softly to himself as he bent down to retrieve it, already certain of who had left it even without seeing the journals. Brushing his fingers carefully down the spine of the book, he was tempted to go and see Edan then and there and confirm the matter that way but he had a assignment to complete and Matt was nothing if not the dutiful resident and, with a small sigh, went back into his room.

playing catch-up

Characters: Jim
Setting: block B

Having slept surprisingly late by his usual standards, the journals were already a flurry of activity by the time Jim sat at his computer. He couldn't help but smirk at Autumn's post even if the intentionally provocative wording of her description had him squirming a touch in his chair and he quickly made the decision that caffeine was in order before anything else. Of course on opening his door he was confronted by the sight of the spark plug and he let out a bray of laughter that was loud enough to draw a stare from the guy passing by his room. Pocketing it, he was still chuckling to himself as he made his way to the kitchen, glad to find a pot of coffee had already been brewed that morning.

Filling a mug for himself, the smell was enough to kick his brain into gear and he tugged another mug from the cabinet, an idea striking him. Filling it with tea bags from the pantry, he found himself whistling an old Beatles song as he left the kitchen and took the long way round back to his room, noting some of the other objects that had been left as he did so before placing the mug outside Reggie's door. It was a struggle to keep whistling as he smiled to himself but he just about managed it, hoping the Brit would appreciate what he'd chosen as he made his way back to his room to make his own post and reply to Autumn's properly.

Finally!

Characters: Wes
Setting: Block A, morning

Wes was more excited about the fact that they were actually going to give him access to the infirmary he'd heard about, then the fact they were opening the bar. He didn't exactly know a whole lot of people. Yet - he could run a clinic. That, he decided, was what he was going to do when they got downstairs.

As a result, he was quick off the mark to complete his side of things. Heading into the kitchen, he plucked up a knife - one of the first things he found. Walking back, he left it outside room 2.

Today was going to be a good day.

Things are Looking Up

Characters: Charlie
Setting: Outside room 31

For once, Charlie had no intention of going against the flow once he saw what they were suggesting. He had missed Wren like crazy, and the idea of being able to see her again... Well, he'd do pretty much anything to achieve that. So, no complaints from this man.

He showered and changed, figuring that he was meant to be doing this unseen and that everyone who wanted to get downstairs was probably rushing out. So, he took his time. No way they were disqualifying him. Not a chance.

Once he was happy that things would have calmed down some, he opened his door. Looking down, he smiled as he saw the apple there. Picking it up and deciding it was his breakfast, he bit into it as he turned back to the computer. He scrolled through the various posts and barked a laugh when he saw who had left the fruit at his door. Well, he hadn't seen that one coming. Or maybe he had. It did really feel like the two of them were adrift here. He messaged back and forth for a while, leaving half way through to actually deliver his 'gift'. Picking up half a dozen farm implements, he wandered round the outside of the farm, before casually leaving a shovel leaning up against the door of room 31. That done, he headed back to his room to leave his message and wait for the okay to go downstairs.

Too Excited For His Own Good

Who: Reggie
Setting: Morning, Kitchen then Room 42

Reggie admittedly almost fell over when he realized just what was going on today. OK, not full admittance to the other side, but this was at least a start. As sad as it sounded, he was more than willing to play along for a little game to actually get to spend time with Jason in person, even if it was just at the bar for a few hours.

Jumping away from the computer, he actually found himself running down the hall before he'd barely realized that he'd left his room. He actually found himself in the kitchen, wildly enough. After looking around for a minute, he grabbed a whisk, heading back to the hall and, after checking to see where no objects had been placed, stuck it in front of the door to room 42. He had NO idea who lived there, honestly. Still, everyone had to get one of these, right? So who cared.

[info]edanwinters

Suggestions

Characters: Edan
Setting: Block A, room 13

Edan saw the message early, and while she had who she needed on this block, getting her things back wouldn't be bad. Plus, who was she to kept others from each other? She headed straight towards the library, walking through shelves until she found what she was looking for. Then she headed right towards a specific door. Making sure he wasn't around, she dropped the copy of Lady Chatterly's Lover in front of Matt's door.

Possibly a little obvious, but she knew he'd appreciate his object being a book more than most would. And maybe he'd get the suggestion behind it.

[info]adamsammy

A little sappy

Character: Adam
Setting: b block

Adam had gotten a little distracted talking to Kyle, planning seeing him, and daydreaming a tiny but before he was shoving clothes on to do his part. He practically tripped over the plant outside his room, but recovered without knocking it over, picking it up to study it before setting it down again so his room was marked as "done." He wanted to startle arching for the post first, but didn't want to get distracted again.

He knew what he was going for, heading out again and going straight for the apple tree. Yes. He was totally cliche and lame but it was fun, finding one to pick even if it was still a little unripe and heading right towards Charlie's room to leave it at the door. Maybe the guy would get the hint faster. What other duo would pick the same object?

Get It Done Quick, Time's A-Wastin'

Character: Jason
Setting: Block A

When Jason got up, he had to read the computer message twice. It wasn't a complete lock down lift, but he would take it. At least this was a chance to get to see Reggie again. And the faster it got done, the faster the basement would be opened. Quickly getting dressed, he headed outside. With the tool shed right in front of him, that was where he immediately headed. There wasn't much thought involved, beyond realizing that leaving a hammer or a saw might not be the best idea. Grabbing a screwdriver, he headed back out. Heading over to his old room, he set the screwdriver by Edan's door. There was no real reason for picking her, beyond the fact that giving a screwdriver to a stranger would just make a weird task even more strange. Satisfied he had done his job, he headed back to his room to type up his clues. Hopefully, they would get this task finished quickly. They only had until midnight, and he wanted as much time as possible with Reggie, even if it was only going to be at the bar.

[info]sam_and_wesson

your mission, if you choose to accept it...

Characters: Sam
Setting: Block B

Sam stared at the computer screen, thinking for a long time after reading the message. Well, this would be a fun little task. Truth be told, she was a little less than excited about this game. She only knew a few people here and hadn't yet fallen in with any particular group. Normally, this wouldn't bother her. But with a little game like this, it didn't take a genius to figure out that people would leave little trinkets outside their friends' rooms. Since Sam didn't exactly have any friends here, and she had no idea what rooms most people had, she was shit out of luck. Fingertips tapped on the desk for a moment as she considered her options.

Standing, she ventured out of her room and a few doors down. She paused in the back of the Theatre room, looking over the items available to snag. It was a good 10 minutes before she settled on one and took it with her as she headed back out. She toured the entire block before settling on a door to leave the little surprise at. Somehow, the little red and white striped box filled with popcorn found it's new home outside of Room 36. Tossing a few kernels into her mouth, Sam headed back to her room to finish the task, humming the Mission Impossible theme song to herself.

Plants Are Traditional, Right?

Characters: Alice
Setting: Block B

After reading the message on her computer, Alice left her room, searching for something she could leave in front of a door. She wasn't terribly interested in a bar - actually, the idea of a bar in a prison sort of scared her - but she didn't want to be the reason other people couldn't use it. The last thing she wanted was to make someone angry like that. And being able to use the laundry room would be very nice. Much better than washing her clothes in the bathroom sink. The problem was, she wasn't sure what to leave. What was appropriate to leave in front of a stranger's door?

Wandering into the greenhouse, she had an idea when she saw the pots there. A plant wouldn't offend anyone, right? Taking one of the pots, she grabbed a small hand shovel and went outside to the garden. She felt a little bad taking something from the garden, but there was quite a bit there. Wandering over to the herbs, she found a small, but healthy looking mint plant. It was kind of pretty, she thought, and at least it would smell good. Carefully digging it up and replanting it in the pot, she added more dirt, making sure the little plant would be okay in its new pot before picking it up and looking around.

She had met a couple of people now, but she didn't know where any of them lived. And maybe it was supposed to be random. Finding a door that didn't have anything in front of it yet, she set the mint plant in front of Room 34 before scurrying away to the kitchen. She would see about adding some seeds to make up for the plant she took later.

[info]fated_wren

stay afloat

Characters: Wren
Setting: block a

As soon as Wren saw the message, she practically skipped everything else just to get that point--the basement would be open, and they had the opportunity to see people from block b if they followed instructions! She was so excited, she bounced in her seat a little, and smiled brightly. Oh, she hoped everyone did what they needed to. After all, it wasn't a difficult task. And she could see Chester. And Adam, and it would be wonderful. Hugs. She needed to give people hugs.

Throwing on clothes, she ran a brush through her hair before she immediately left her room, making a short trip to the pool room. She went in, grabbed a little floaty board, then set it at the door of the nearest room, Room 8. She then cheerfully went to grab some fruit from the kitchen, before she went to go type up her description.

[info]alea_iacta_est

participation

Characters: Hunter
Setting: block b

Hunter wasn't sure he was even going to do this. He wasn't positive that he wanted to. Really, the only reason he didn't fuck it up for everyone was the assurance from the administration in their note was that no one from Block A could come to Block B. It meant if he stayed behind, he could avoid her. Or he could just leave, if she didn't leave him alone.

So, in the end, he wasn't enough of a dick to not go through with things. As far as imagination went, he didn't put much into it. He just walked through the courtyard, grabbed an orange, and stuck it outside a random room. It was Room 30. The he left, wondering if at least people could give him back clothes.

[info]ru_the_day

get it done

Characters: Ru
Setting: block A

Ru smiled as she read the new communication from the administration. Interesting. She set out after she got dressed, and headed for the gym, already knowing what she was going to choose. Picking out a small hand dumbbell as big as she could carry in both hands, she lugged it to a random room, which happened to be Room 6. She dropped it outside the door, narrowly missing her foot, and she hopped back.

Rubbing her now sore hands together a little, she retreated, wanting to get the basement open so people could start getting drunk, and she could start playing around with dynamics again. It was bound to be entertaining.

[info]fkup

have a berry good day

Characters: Rusty
Setting: block b

So, when he saw the thing on the computers, he headed out to do it, because if they could get this done, maybe he could talk to Mazie, and maybe he could help smooth things over. This whole broken up musketeers thing was making his stomach hurt. He looked around the farm for his inspiration, and eventually landed on berries. Grabbing a bowl from the kitchen, he picked raspberries, blueberries and strawberries.

He headed to Jim's door, only to see that there was a sparkplug already sitting there. Well, crap. He paused, then glanced to his old room. In the end he smiled, and set the bowl down in front of Alice's door. She could use some berries, right? Sure. Then he glanced around, totally self conscious, and practically ran away.

[info]save_everyone

pure poetry

Characters: Naomi
Setting: Outside of Room 9

Naomi didn't know everyone yet, even after the barbecue. But she was still trying, so when she saw the assignment, she chose a random room number, the occupant unknown. She had looked around, trying to go for something simple, and which couldn't be taken in a wrong fashion whatsoever. Eventually, she went with a book from the library. It happened to be a book of poems. That couldn't be misconstrued, right? Not overthinking it, she set the book down, then dashed off, to go fulfill the second part of her assignment.

[info]arty_kyle

Early morning

Character: Kyle
Setting: Block A, early morning

Kyle was up early that morning, his room still dark as he opened his eyes to the now familiar blinking from his computer screen which indicated a new message had arrived. He pulled himself up out of bed and read it. Then read it again.

He grinned. Access to the basement. A chance to meet up with people. With Adam. A chance for them all to be together again. Oh hell yes, he was taking that.

He didn't even stop to get dressed as he hurried out of his room. Grabbing the first thing he saw from the kitchen - an apple from the bowl on the counter - he placed it outside Zach's door before heading back to his room again.

They were going to complete this task - if he had to personally knock on each and every door and force people to do their part.

[info]autumn_ruby

surprise

Characters: Autumn
Setting: outside of Jim's room

Autumn had been up early, and read the message. She immediately went to hunt up a sparkplug, grabbing one from the machine shop. She placed it outside of Jim's door silently, then went back to her room to write up a description. She had to choose that, and him, considering he was starting to teach her about cars. They'd looked at a few the other day. So...she just had to.

Hopefully they could get this done and actually see people...even if she was aware Mazie may not want to see her at all.

July 27th

W E A T H E R
The day beginning overcast, and a light rain starts around 1pm which continues throughout the day.

E V E N T S

Through a small icon on the desktop, camera feeds can be accessed from people’s computers today. Block B can spy on Block A, and vice versa but cannot look at feeds from their own block. Camera feeds include: public areas, and main rooms of individual rooms and include sound. Today there is also a feed available of the bar in the basement.

There is a cardboard box full of bits and pieces in the cafeteria of block A with Kyle’s name on. It is filled with scraps of beads, material, broken jewellery and other items of ‘junk’.

C O M M U N I C A T I O N S

Everyone receives the following message - the message will blink until it is read:-

Good morning,

As you are no doubt aware, the aim of this programme is to build a community. The last few days have been designed to highlight the relationships which you have and have not made, and to focus your attention towards developing new relationships in a limited environment. Now, we want to encourage you to work together with your fellow residents to achieve a common goal. As such, today you have a team goal which requires everyone to individually participate, thus playing their part.

You are each required to find an object of your choosing from a communal area. This object can be anything you wish. You are required to write a public journal entry detailing what that object is without actually naming it. You are required to then leave that object outside the door of your choice. This should be the door of another resident.

For those of you who have been left objects, your goal is to match your object up with the relevant journal entry and respond to that journal entry.

Only when the object which you placed has been ‘matched’ will your task for the day be completed.

If and when each member of your block has completed their task, your block will be able to access the basement, where the laundry room bar will be open until midnight tonight. There will be no access for your block until everyone in that block has completed the task. If one or more members of your block fail to complete their task, you will not be able to access the bar. You may help each other complete tasks, but it is not permitted to specifically tell people what object you placed. We suggest that you ensure that you are not seen placing your object by the person whose room you place it before. Please do not place more than one object. Such events will risk disqualification and lead to your group not being able to access the bar.

If both blocks complete the task, you will all be able to meet up in the bar. You will not, however, be able to gain access to the opposite block, only be able to access the basement and your 'home' block. This includes the laundry room.

Thank you,

The Administration

Wes receives the following message:-

Dr Andersen

Should your block complete the task set and access to the basement be granted, you will also be able to access the clinic until midnight tonight. There you will find medical files for all facility residents.

The Administration

Kyle receives the following message:-

Mr Van Allen

You will find a box of assorted items we feel may suit your requirements by the elevator.

The Administration

Pippa receives the following message:-

Dear Ms Abraham,

We have been carefully watching your behavior and conduct since your placement in the facility. You, out of all of the residents, seem to have the most problems with acting in a community constructive way. We would suggest that you take steps to improve your ability to act in conjunction with a group, or else we will have to reconsider your participation in this facility.

The Administration

New residents receive this welcome message on their computer. The message blinks until it is read.
