[voice] late night

[...quietly]

I have been giving a great deal of thought to the incident a few weeks ago, and your -- opinions on what happened. I think I have decided that I cannot excuse what the Engineers do in the name of entertainment. It feels like -- an abuse of their power.

[after a beat]

I understand that it's unlikely that most of you would be willing to help me. But -- is there anybody here who would be willing to act... as...

[another pause. almost embarrassed]

...my bodyguard?

[It's late at night, which is exactly what Sentience wanted before making a post like this.]

The Engineers do not take anything seriously. That's simply the way they are; they have a tendency -- not a personal tendency, but a racial tendency, wired into their brain functioning -- to laugh at painful or difficult topics, to treat them lightly.

But even taking cultural differences into account, it is... cruel, isn't it? To take out their boredom on the people here. This is supposed to be a place where criminals can live out their sentences in peace. Everyone here is a person, not... a toy.

[Sentience still seems troubled about the fourth wall.]

[ It's beginning to become dark outside, but he's hardly cared to notice. In the Education Center, most of the lights have shut off, save for a few that are in a lab. What appears to be a distilling apparatus has been created, along with a few other experiments. Those that pay particularly close attention to feed might be able to hear a small humming in the background. This is the lab's fume hood.

He's still feeling fatigued from the spill he took a few days prior, enough so that he isn't wandering far throughout the prison. Sherlock loathes being stagnant, though; more than he disdains talking to people, even. ]

I've been hearing that there was a warden in place before Acumen. Are there any among you who know about it, or have been here under its regime? Inquiring minds would like to know.

Also, if the Head of the Defense Force is about, I should like to speak with them.

(( OOC: For action posts, you might catch him in the lab, looking through a microscope, checking equipment, stirring random things, or taking a smoke break outside of the facility. ))

So rain, was it...

[Her voice trailing off. Not exactly sounding too impressed by that fact as she swirls a spoon playfully around in a large cup of milk before letting it go, only to watch the utensil continue to circle until it all but stops. At that point, she removes it with a twirl.]

... in a facility that is beneath the surface of the ocean.

[Yellow eyes flicker toward the communicator. She lets that hang there for a moment as she takes a sip of her drink.]

And no one finds this out of the ordinary. While the lack of shackle is much appreciated, I think I'd prefer open skies to leaky domes...

Eh...

[There's one very baffled blue-haired demon staring into the communicator.]

Dis ain't right...

Have I been out for very long? Where's Sera? Sentience? You still here, sis?

...Who done went and moved me??

((ETA: Ack! Gotta run! I'll get to replies later.))

[In the early evening, Roxas heads over to see Xion and Axel at his old house the way they'd planned. He knows that she's expecting a tiny party of just the three of them, plus Aqua, but he comes trailing a small crowd of people. Some of you might be bearing streamers, some balloons, some appetizers, some cake with a big candle in the shape of Xion's name... and someone bearing a big container of fruit punch.]

[He shushes everyone as they get close to the door, and then knocks briefly before opening the door, peeking his head in.]

Hey, Xion! [brightly] Happy birthday...!

[And he opens the door to let everyone in. Go forth, hang up your streamers, and have fun!]

((Sorry this is so late!! Event post, feel free to have your own threads, thread amongst yourself, etc. But don't forget to say happy birthday to Xion! Xion's friends are invited, and if you tagged Roxas, assume you have an invite if we didn't get around to it yet. There will be a party game: suggestions were musical chairs, truth or dare, or pin the tail on the donkey. Or feel free to suggest your own!))
The 98th Day
17 January 2011 at 11:19 pm
Good morning, inmates. It is the 98th day of the third generation, The weather will be clear today, and slightly chilly during the morning before warming up significantly.

Inmates C.C. and Dean Winchester, choosing to ignore the ban on sexual relations has consequences, as I am certain you have already realized now. The restraints fitted upon you will deter physical contact for the duration of a week, good behavior provided.

For those who may wish to be informed, today happens to coincide with-- or be very close to-- several variations of a new year's celebration. Reflecting on your actions thus far and contemplating resolutions for the future can be beneficial, and may be of interest to some.

[[ooc: Just like with the collars on Kitty and Tyki before! Even accidental contact will cause the one collared to receive a mild shock, and they can't be broken or phased through]]

What an eventful day. I'm glad Acumen thought to bring in some more quality alcohol for everyone -- it was very considerate.

[Sentience is out on the doorstep in the snow. It's a little four-foot-tall robot sitting on the stairs in Sector 3 with Cielo's cat on its knees, petting her slowly and carefully with metal hands.]

...If you could change one thing about the prison as it is now, what do you think you would change? [Followed by a thoughtful pause, then adding dryly] Aside from "allowing us to go home" and variations thereon, if you please.
The 84th Day
11 October 2010 at 11:10 pm
Good morning, inmates. It is the 84th day of the third generation.

There is an issue that I would hear all of your opinions on, one regarding some inmate reactions to the blackout that occurred the night before last. It is imperative that you all understand that such events will naturally happen, so long as inmates have the free reign that they do. The only fail-safe method to ensure that nothing goes wrong is to reduce or remove that freedom.

So then, inmates of Marina Asylum, should the trust and freedom given to you be limited in exchange for a more smoothly operated system and facility? Or are some of you content to endure through some inconveniences, and retain the leniency you have now?

Inmates Fai D. Flourite and Toothless, your requests can be found at the entrance to Sector 0. Inmate Kefka Palazzo, your request will delivered by a remote unit.

...is it over?

[The Engineers sound kind of tired right now. In fact, that female voice just now sounded hoarse. Probably because...]

This has been the best day ever. In -- in the history of our system!

Yes, yes! [A brief bit of renewed giggling as they consider it.]

You all should have seen yourselves at the dance party. I think -- I think I hurt myself laughing.

It-- it was really the best.

What a wonderful change of pace! And the pizza? That was inspired.

Can this one stay in charge?

[--then, more laughter.]

...Acumen? ...Hellooooooo? LET'S MAKE BABI--

--OOOOOOO~ I CAN SEE ALLLLL OF YOU! YOU'S ALL GONNA BE LIKE ANTS!

[Giggle while GIR proceeds to mess about with certain things in his new surroundings, gleefully asking what 'this does' or 'that does' in the process.

GIR eventually decides that he rather likes the dome in nighttime, so for now all you'll be seeing is darkness. But of course breakfast time doesn't have to suffer because of this! There's a gasp because now GIR has some ideas!

Should you be worried? That is entirely up to you.]

DOLPHINS!

((ooc: Ok, guys, today's the day to meet your new Vermin Overlord! First off, you can always refer to this post for a day-to-day schedule of what's happening. This morning Orihime and Ribbons will be given special attention! GIR will be sending robots to Orihime's house to pamper her senseless and give her candy and as for Ribbons, congratulations, you will be sent a huge shipment of tacos with bacon in them.

Comment as you would any other day post and have fun~))

[There is an androgynous three-foot-tall robot in a yellow dress and a bow on its head hanging around outside an apartment building in Sector 3, dribbling a basketball nimbly from one hand to the next. Looks like Sentience has gotten the hang of fine motor coordination.]

The school seems quite successful so far. It is strange -- it has been my experience that although most if not all of those resources are already in place for those interested in learning, they had been largely under-utilized.

I suppose it is the element of connection that makes a learning environment engaging.

What'chu tink? I t'ought Sentience might like sumtin' cute ta wear, ja? Dey have all sorts a' little clothes dat might fit her.

I think Acumen knows who is responsible for all of these fatigue problems, and that risk of this threat happening was at 15%, but he won't release that information to anyone but the Defense Team leader because of inmate privacy protocols.

I didn't even know we had rights to any kind of privacy here.

In response, I've relinquished inmate confidentiality on my personal files. Information should be free and decentralized- Levy's 3rd and 4th commandments of The WIReD social ethos.

[In a cell inside the Defense Force HQ, Cielo has slid down against one of the walls, arms wrapped about himself. Just below the line of his black shorts, the atma marking on his leg has begun glowing a light blue. His breath's come harsh.

He'd been hoping his fears would have been proven wrong. So much for that.

The communicator is flipped on briefly, filters forgotten.]

Real bang up job the Defense Force is doing lately. They're the only ones to get robbed, we've got some sodding sleeping plague about, and now someone went and got themselves murdered all mysterious like.

Then again, it's not like it makes any difference to me one way or the other. And don't think I didn't come bearing helpful ideas. Ever considered matching uniforms? Couldn't hurt really.

I've aah...I've noticed that there's a certain tendency toward the holidays here being--

[Paaause.]

Weeeeell, they're all Earth holidays, for one. And everyone here can't be from Earth, can they? It's just...a bit...humanocentric, especially when there's so many other brilliant holidays out in the universe! And...would I be wrong to assume that the holidays are generally Christian? I remember a few that have been Japanese as well, but...

Well, only acknowledging the Christian holiday of Easter...I find it just a bit difficult to believe that coincidentally, every day here only matches up to either a Christian or Japanese holiday. Not that I don't love those holidays! I'm a fan of chocolate and presents and good cheer and getting together as much as the next sentient being who's into that sort of thing but---oh! And that's another issue. Not recognising anyone who just recognises the holiday for its ideals! You know, like I said! Only organising a church service, well. I don't find that very inclusive. A bit overbearing, if anything. Couldn't there be several official events? Egg hunt, available chocolate, maybe even a belated Seder, or Wiccan celebration of the Vernal Equinox, or Holi or, well, there's any number. I'm not going to keep listing, I mean, that's still only Earth holidays and look at everything already being left out! Not to mention, is White Day ever going to be celebrated or will the system of gift-giving for any Japanese inmates who participated in Valentine's Day remain unfairly one-way? Just a thought.

I'm not saying anyone should stop being religious, obviously, even if I personally prefer the secular aspects of the holidays. I just--I just don't think it's fair, that's all.

[ooc: Oh HI. This is me, "coming back from hiatus". Uh. I'm trying. Mostly, the Doctor just REALLY WANTED TO POST. But hi anyway.]

Sentience? Are you there? How are your adjustments going?

I've decided. I'm going to help you become optimal. Rehabilitated, like the rest of us. I'm going to be like a real friend to you now, while you're one of us. And you'll be the best bot-inmate in the dome!

Dr. Eggman? If you could help us with some diagnostics? And...and maybe we'll go shopping for some nicer plating? Unless you'd like to wear clothes, Senti. Maybe we can find you some nice-

[The 52nd Day]
01 March 2010 at 05:53 pm
[The day dawns quietly. No announcement from Sentience; nothing dramatic, no explosions, no storms, no ominous sounds. It's just a normal day, without Sentience. Even the bots go about their normal routines, cooking or cleaning or herding the restrained prisoners, but they are completely silent, with nothing to say and no recognition of anything spoken to them. They may as well just be -- machines.]

[Nothing else seems out of place...]
