What do people get each other for Christmas?

[ a young man standing straight, adjacent to a desk some of you might recognize as Gino's in the DF office. he's only nineteen, but his expression is all business and it has the effect of making him look older than he is. mature, responsible, and there's just something in his eyes. ]

Good morning, everyone. For those of you who are new here, my name is Suzaku Kururugi. I'm currently head of the Defense Force here in Marina. The Defense Force is here for your protection, and you can also address any questions you might have to us. If you need help, with anything, you can come down to our HQ and ask -- or you can use your communicator to direct a private message to "the Defense Force". The communicator knows who we are.

If you're interested in signing up to join the Defense Force, please let me know. [ a pause, because how to say this, and then: ] We have civilian positions open as well, if there's anyone who's good with computers or details.

[Filtered to current DF members]

...Please report. Several of our people have failed to appear for their scheduled patrols, and I'm sorry -- but Marina needs Defense Force members it can depend upon. I know we're a volunteer organization, but we've also been entrusted with the means to protect people here and that is a duty I hope we all take very seriously.

((ooc: This is both a recruitment post AND a roll call. DF members who don't respond to this post will be removed and have their weapon confiscated! (Hiatused characters excepted.) Please remember that you must be willing to be involved with DF activities: if another player needs to plot with the DF, you and your character should be ready to volunteer. If that's not something you can do, please don't join, resign ICly, or let Suzaku take you off the Force. Thank you!))
The 92nd Day
06 December 2010 at 07:50 pm
Good morning, inmates. It is the 92nd day of the third generation, and newly processed criminals will be arriving over the course of the day.

The stabilizer error has been resolved, and the cause of the 'monster' disruptions has been removed. After a thorough investigation, the inmate responsible for the incidents has been located and handled appropriately. There should be no further incidents, and it should comfort some of you to know that, as I had concluded, the incidents were not, in fact, real.

There will be a heavy snowfall throughout the day.

[Something was off here. The air was colder than it had been just a moment before. But that's not the most important thing.

He can't smell anything. Not even with the little bit of smell he had prior to absorbing his kin.

Distracted by the lack of his rather powerful sense of smell, Pride made it through the early afternoon by rout, even making his way to his Introduction to History class that he had missed upon disappearing four days prior. Arriving a bit early, "Selim" sat down in the empty classroom and idly flipped through the textbook while he waited for the class to arrive.

And waited...

And waited.

Over half an hour passed when he eventually activated the video feed on his communicator, stepping back outside the classroom with his school supplies packed up again. He puts on a slightly worried look.]

Um...Mr. Dylandy? Is class canceled today?

["Selim" is in the shelter cafeteria biding his time, watching others worry about the situation. It's almost amusing, what humans do when they're afraid. If only he could be the one to be hunting them down like those "monsters" outside.

Flicking the switch on his flashlight off and then on every few seconds (as if to conserve its charge), he sits at a table, watching everyone who enters the room. He even looks a bit scared, even though there's no way he is.

It's curious that the communicators no longer work, thus giving him less to listen to, but at least it might bring panic to those around him. Maybe he'll even help with that.]

[He speaks up to anyone who will listen in that room.]
Um...Does anyone know why it's so quiet on the communicator?

Excuses, excuses.

I knew Acumen was behind this. And now we're being punished for not bending to its will. Is anyone else unsurprised?

[Maybe ten minutes later:]

I need someone from... from the Defense Force to escort me to sector six. And no, it can't wait until tomorrow.

If you were running the prison, what would you do differently?

[She's in the library, having taken up an entire small table with books, a few empty paper cups that were once filled with coffee, and a pad of yellow lined paper; she's been writing for a while. At her feet is a medium sized shopping bag, filled with everything she owns that's worth keeping -- which isn't much.]

You know Acumen does make a very good point.

So what are you willing to give up for your freedom?
The 84th Day
11 October 2010 at 11:10 pm
Good morning, inmates. It is the 84th day of the third generation.

There is an issue that I would hear all of your opinions on, one regarding some inmate reactions to the blackout that occurred the night before last. It is imperative that you all understand that such events will naturally happen, so long as inmates have the free reign that they do. The only fail-safe method to ensure that nothing goes wrong is to reduce or remove that freedom.

So then, inmates of Marina Asylum, should the trust and freedom given to you be limited in exchange for a more smoothly operated system and facility? Or are some of you content to endure through some inconveniences, and retain the leniency you have now?

Inmates Fai D. Flourite and Toothless, your requests can be found at the entrance to Sector 0. Inmate Kefka Palazzo, your request will delivered by a remote unit.

Good evening, everyone.~ [Josak's voice sounds as upbeat and laid back as usual.] The day is nearing for the grand opening of the Fashion Boutique.

But a boutique can't open without clothes. And clothes cannot be advertised without models.

So who's up for volunteering?

{OOC: Here's the IC sign up post and please check out the OOC sign-up post now on Joak's journal.}

[There's the sound of a small child gasping and sobbing quietly, as though attempting to stifle the noises.]

This can't be happening, it's not, it's OVER, she came, she got me out, it's not happening again, no, no no...

I didn't do those things! Murder, arson - I've never! I...I want mommy!

[Suddenly the sounds get closer, and the video clicks on as the device is lifted up and fiddled with, revealing a distraught girl of about nine, with long brown hair and blue eyes.]

What is this...can-can anyone hear me! Mom?

[Suddenly, her face...changes, her eyes darkening and her head tilting to the side as her mouth lifts up slightly, in an expression closer to a smirk then a smile.]

Thank you for the gift basket.
The 83rd Day
04 October 2010 at 09:23 pm
Good morning, inmates. It is the 83rd day of the third generation, and newly processed criminals will be arriving in the facility over the course of the day.

Concerning the power outage last night, it was a minor error that resolved itself, and I apologize if it caused any inconvenience to inmates.

Today, the climate will be adjusted to progressively cooler temperatures, and some facility plant life will alter as well, in order to create a more autumn atmosphere.

Inmate Cross Marian, use of force against remote units is not tolerated. This will be the only warning.

[after a few moments of annoyed attempts to turn on his lamp and glancing outside to see that the rest of the dome is similarly dark... the video is on but it's just black because there's no light source anywhere. he's fumbling for the flashlight in his house]

Okay, who is responsible for the blackout? Can't we go three days without a crisis?

Ahahahaha, this is just like in the movies!

[Sakamoto is wearing... A pair of briefs on his head, knee-high pink socks over what look to be neon green bell bottoms, and a "I love boobs" t-shirt that's just a little too small. His abs belly button is showing. Draped over his shoulders is... What looks to be a shower curtain.]

I don't exactly know what I can do or if I can do anything at all! But I will do my best to fight for justice, ahahahaha! At least, I think that's what I'm supposed to say...

[His power deals with touch- Anyone he touches will feel joy, or happiness. However, there will be a sort of hangover effect. After three hours, anybody he's come in physical contact with will experience a massive headache.

Throughout the day he will be wandering throughout the prison.

[The voice sounds like that of an elderly man with emphysema, deep, raspy and scratchy.]

The effects of the gas leaked by the explosion last night are not permanent. They will wear off within a few hours on their own and a cure will be spread before morning to make sure it all works.

There should be no negative side effects. Some of you might get a few extra hours of sleep tonight and wake up a little sore in the morning, but that's about it.

The explosion was an accident and a big misjudgment on my part. No one was meant to be exposed to that gas. For that...I'm sorry. May not be worth much, but I am. So I'll do what I can to fix this.

[Anyone who tries to hunt down the sender will find their roads blocked by several fail-safes, including a very loud screeching noise before communication is disconnected completely.]

[Well, that explosion woke her up well and she just couldn't fall back asleep. However, she feels funny. Her hands and fingers feel numb and soft, a slight tingling feeling. Maybe it will wear off in a minute....]

[But, hey, a new day! Spend some time with Ciel and her Angelic Layer doll is finished! She needs to share that with Lelouch as well, and find some other things to do. She is getting better at putting her hair up by herself and getting ready, putting on her communicator and turning it on to hear any other messages from the network. Though, right when she reached to put away a cute bunny that she dressed up herself, things got freaky. White clear strings just laced out of her fingers, grabbing onto the plush doll. And the bunny moved.]

[Sorry, network, but have a screaming wake up call.]

Um, everyone! Something really strange happened to me this morning! Look!

[She put the camera onto the rabbit, moving one hand up and the other down, going into some pattern. The bunny is walking and twirling around. But, hey, she is staring to smile a little.]

Ah...This might not be bad at all!

How do you punish criminals in your world?

The 80th Day
13 September 2010 at 10:01 pm
Good morning inmates. It is the 80th day of the third generation.

Today is notably a celebration called Celestial Nights. During this festival, you pay tribute to your loved ones who are not with you. Since that seems relevant, perhaps some of you would care to indulge in a small memoriam. In Sector 4 by the beach we will be setting up bamboo stalks and tables where you can writes poems -- or simply messages -- to your faraway loved ones.

Construction for the Sector 6 playground and the park pond are still underway, please refrain from interfering with the sites.

Inmate Nepeta Leijon, your request can be retrieved at the entrance to Sector 0.
