Logging in no longer works for GJ. It might be a server glitch, but part of me wonders if system didn't just say 'fuckit' and turn it off altogether. Maybe that's what he meant by ASIS.

(Details: you can log in but if you refresh you're logged out)

eta I tried posting a comment to the news post (by inputing my un/pw right before hitting post) and got errors galore. Now it's showing my comments sans text. (http://www.greatestjournal.com/community/news/100462.html?page=29#comments)

Actually I notice alot of things that are blank. On the front page, no featured journal icons show. I went into that really long trainwreck of a news entry and the last page of stuff all showed blank comments. Not sure if the two are related
Well the front one is definitely related - since people can't login, they can't update.
What did that news entry say? I have pretty much stayed away from GJ ever since system was like "Peace out, bitches." and when I try to go to the link I just get the error message mentioned in another post.
Did the news entry you were talking about get deleted? I only saw the one about how system was giving up on everything, and then the one posted either today or yesterday about a server crash.
I just tested it, and I CAN log in but I can't STAY logged in. It's still possible to post an entry by putting in the username & password on the post page. posted here just now But eh, if you can't stay logged in, there's not much point really, is there?
Yep that's why I said if you refresh you're logged out.
Yeah I'm kind of freaking out here cause I haven't fully backed up my GJ. If/when logging works again I'm archiving and high tailing out of there.
Off topic: Would you happen to have any links to the original Mana pictures of your icon? I am no longer a member in the Jrock fandom...
Back when I left LJ, I used a python script titled LJ Migrate. It copied your LJ entries and moved them to IJ. I had a journal since 2002 so it took me a decent chunk of time for the script to run 100% complete.

Not sure if it works for GJ>IJ though.

It also seems to be having extra icon issues - I just went in to change my default and it's not working.

Or does it usually take a while to register that change? I started mirroring to GJ during boldthrough - haven't done much with it and don't plan to ever.
I was logged out as soon as I navigated away from the login page. Wow, implosion seems nigh!
No more re-reading my old smut-logs, I guess. They were all f-locked as per RP rules.
Two open support tickets that we can see:

Here is the error:

[Error: Got error 30 from table handler at /home/gj/cgi-bin/talklib.pl line 2383. @ tcboobay10] was received
LOL Damn! well it's been dead already.
I feel really bad for the people who were trying to stick it out and hope for a miracle. They just got screwed so hard.
You can log in and post via Semagic just fine.
Damn, good thing I didn't f-lock any of those RP memories I want to save...
The funniest thing about all this, I went to the main GJ page, and this testimony was up there:

"I love all the features we get for free here that cost tons of money on other sites, and I especially love that you actually listen to us when we have suggestions."
- cho_malfoy - MORE
I used to envision System as a petulant little child sitting behind a desk in a business suit and sticking his tongue out at everyone. Now I picture a limp prick with a frowny face painted on, flipping the bird.
"eta I tried posting a comment to the news post (by inputing my un/pw right before hitting post) and got errors galore. Now it's showing my comments sans text. (http://www.greatestjournal.com/community/news/100462.html?page=29#comments)"

Not to start a stampede or anything, but that page isn't showing anyone's comments. No chance system is wiping the servers, is he? I'd get the hell out of there now while you can, and take all your entries with you if possible.
Um, I don't have the connections, and don't know if it's been done already, but if it hasn't, someone needs to report what system has been up to since last week to the media, if it hasn't hit the big Internet news sites already. Maybe a huge dose of public attention would do him some good. GreatestJournal was considered the alternative to using LJ back in the day, and it's quite well known around the Web. Or it was. Anyone want to guess how long before the site blinks one last time and goes out?
Technorati's finally good for something: you can click the link below to keep up with everyone who's deleting their GJ journals and moving over here. The new posts on this topic are quite extensive:

GJ is like a train wreck. I have moved all my stuff over to IJ but I can't stop going back to watch GJ unravel.

It is sad.

I am surprised System hasn't just pulled the plug on the entire site. Based on the number of comments saying... less than flattering things about him/her... I would think he/she might just decide, "Screw you guys, I am going home!"
I finally decided to check it out--my GJ seems to be intact except for the missing icons. Maybe this is just an intermittent trouble?
