When the Director goes off the Deep End

WHO: Coulson, Raina, SHIELD, passers by,
WHAt: see here for details
WHERE Ost Cafe on 12th & Birch Cafe -97th & Columbus,
WHEN: Friday Nov 21
STATUS: In progress thread

PART I
Who Raina & Coulson
What: Just coffee and Coulson trying to get information
Where: Birch Cafe 97th & Columbus

May would kill him. But after last night, well, he'd handle May. She didn't understand. None of them did. Not fully, at least. Not to the level in which it made Coulson doubt what he was doing, what he was. Which is why he was heading across town to meet Raina. He'd slipped into a cab - Lola was too noticeable - and taking it up to Birch Cafe, close to Central Park and far enough away from the Tower to give him some time with Raina. He'd left his phone at the Tower, so unless Fitzsimmons had put a tracker in his tie, he was fairly certain he was untrackable.

Until he noticed the tail. A bike courier that seemed just a bit out of place. Fury. Well. He trusted Fury to stay out of the way. Going into the coffee shop, he he ordered a cafe americano before taking a seat by the window, his back to the corner so he could see the entire cafe (and so no one could sneak up on him from behind). Spotting the familiar curly hair, he stood up, ever the gentleman (well, when he wasn't interrogating HYDRA agents).

The Sunday papers this week are full of so-called analyses of the child kidnappers who are plaguing the city over the last few weeks and months. The thing about these profiles is that they're based on incomplete information.

With all due respect to our police department, we're not even sure whether the information they have about the kidnappings is complete. Despite the fact that they've assembled enough of a trail to know that the Mayor's daughter isn't the first child to go missing, and that there are common factors, there's no guarantee they've connected all the cases they have--clues may have been hidden or simply overlooked and some disappearances may not have been connected to the case. And with the unfortunate number of street children that live in New York, the disappearance of some victims may never have been noticed.

On top of that, it's not as if NYPD is sharing everything they know with the public, for very good reasons, so it's not as if any so-called profilers have all the information they'd need to assemble a profile. The experts who work for NYPD and the other authorities they may have called in on the case are keeping quiet for a reason.

It wouldn't occur to me to speculate in more than passing on why someone might have kidnapped these children. There are ideas that seem terribly obvious, but without knowing much more than we do, the only likely outcomes are titillating the public and causing distress to the families. Rumor has it that the APA may promulgate an ethics rule forbidding professionals to speculate on television or in print about ongoing cases they're not involved in. I'd be glad to support that measure.

I hope all of the children are home with their families, safe and well, soon.

PRIVATE TO NATASHA
Well, I told her. It went poorly. Anyway, if you need some back up on things, I'm now officially a free agent in all meaning of the word. Hope things with Barnes went well.
/PRIVATE

Does anyone know where there might be cheap office space for rent? I'm thinking of finding a place stable to work out of. Also, I probably should find a new apartment.

August 20, 2014: The Maria Stark Foundation Annual Charity Night Fundraiser

1011077_754948607867404_526959230_n

Welcome to New York City's historic Gotham Hall, a massive and beautiful event space located in the heart of Manhattan at 1356 Broadway. Gotham Hall is style meets sophistication, with brass filigree doors, marble inlaid floors, grand architecture, and a positively soaring gilded ceiling. This oval space boasts 9,980 square feet and holds a max capacity of 800 guests. Given that the MSF charity fundraiser is one of the hottest tickets in town, every one of those tickets has been bought, raffled off, stolen, or scalped.

How does your character come to attend this event, and are there any other reasons for why they are doing so?

So, a crocodile kidnaps a kid and promises the kid's father that the kid will be returned if he can correctly predict whether or not the crocodile will give the kid back.

The father guesses no, the crocodile won't give the kid back.

This case I'm working? The croc in question isn't too bad of a guy. Court awarded full custody to his son's drug-addicted mother, so he snatched his kid up and is on the run. Mom hired me to track him down. Dilemma, huh?

I would greatly appreciate it if the criminal element could catch the honesty bug that the good guys have contracted.

I'm not asking them to retire from crime all together. I just want a little help. Just tell me where you are and I can get my money.  Less time on the run for you and less having to stay in shitty motels for me.
