Draco & Arianna

WHO: Draco Malfoy & Arianna Dumbledore
WHAT: Draco is a little worried.
WHERE: The greenhouse.
WHEN: Slightly forward dated to Thursday, 11/12.
RATING: PG

Sure, the village did some crazy things sometimes. Life-threatening even. However, Draco wasn't too keen on blacking out for the better part of a month. Granted, he learned he was technically awake during that time living some alternate life, but he still felt unsettled. He'd never get back those three weeks.

Life went on. In the grand scheme of his life, missing time was not the worst thing to happen to him. He still had his family here (well, most). He had a grandson and godson to spoil. He had some friends. His life was still a marked improvement over the one he left behind. Who knew how long it would last? The village was not a guarantee. He didn't like thinking about it, but he lost enough people to the magic to know not to take time for granted. Heck, he lost people in his other life too. He already spent so much time hiding back home that he just couldn't dwell on the "what if" aspect others explained to him. He did enough of that without magical help. Without the war? He knew he likely didn't amount to much. So what did he do? He went back to work on Monday. He saw students and continued progress reports and spoke to teachers.

There was one student he couldn't manage to track down, one who also skirted his invitation for tea over the weekend. That student also happened to be one of the few people who wasn't missing time. He knew she saw and heard things that unsettled her. He couldn't imagine how it felt to have people believing different histories. Yet, he could relate to one aspect. He knew how it felt to know a version of a person only to watch him slip away and return as someone completely different. He was sorry Arianna experienced that with people's changed histories. Sure it had been temporary, but the memories stayed, didn't they?

He gave her time, but then knew he needed to seek her out. It wasn't terribly difficult to find her. He headed to the greenhouse after class on Thursday. "Hello?" He called out. "It is Draco," he added, hoping not to startle her if she was there (or anyone else for that matter).
