Ernie & Lavender

WHERE: Beau Mangerie
WHEN: Slightly backdated to the 21st.
RATING: PG
It had been quite the while since Ernie attempted to plan a proper date so he took extra time and care when planning an evening he hoped Lavender would like. She caught him off guard on Valentine's Day, but she surprised him even more in admitting she had feelings for him. He could pinpoint when he began crushing on her, but he never thought a woman like her would look twice at him. In fact, he was used to women overlooking him for the suave smooth talkers. After he learned of his true parentage, he couldn't help thinking what he might have been like had he grown up around Nate. Nate surely never got tongue-tied or wore too stiff clothing around lovely and brilliant young women. Ernie was sure of it.
He didn't ask for help this time. He hadn't planned a night out with romance in mind since Helga left well over a year ago, but he was realizing he needed to do things his way. If it was meant to work out with Lavender (or any woman), he'd need to be himself. It was too cold for a prolonged walk, but he still planned to walk her through the park for a special surprise after dinner. He showed up at her doorstep wearing crisp navy slacks, a white button down, and grey sweater vest. In other words, he looked like himself instead of whoever he was trying to be on Valentine's Day.
"I hope you don't mind that I am saving your gift for later," Ernie said as they settled in at the table he carefully picked out when making the reservation.
