B.Y.O.

Characters: Mojo and open to all interested parties
Setting: The library, late afternoon onward

"'Nicole continued talking. She told me quite a few interesting stories, some of which I decided to use myself, either as stories or poems. I watched her breasts as she bent forward and poured drinks. It's like a movie, I thought, like a fucking movie.'," Mojo read easily from her seat at one of the library tables, leaned slightly back with a smile on her lips a cup of wine in one hand, and her book in the other.

Deliberations

Characters: Wu and OPEN to all involved
Setting: Courtroom, 9 AM

"Understand that I am neither prosecution or defense," Wu said as he looked over the jury, "I am not here to argue these cases or answer your questions relating to them. I am here only to present the basis of each. Anything more, you must ask the law enforcement staff or the accused themselves."

He was as composed and unreadable as he'd ever been, pacing around in front of the long table that situated the jury. His temper was coiling with impatience, but this wasn't the place for it to come loose. "In the case of fights, of which there have been several, keep in mind that guilt may be assigned to both parties for taking part, and that sentencing ultimately rests in your hands as well. Neither verdicts or sentences must be unanimous, only held by a majority. Let us begin."

Cook Out

Characters: Reece and OPEN TO ALL
Setting: Courtyard, early evening

Carmel hadn't joked about being given better food for grilling and Reece actually found himself with more to work with than just hamburgers and hotdogs, and despite everything he was almost enjoying himself. It was as close to home as he felt he cold get, decent weather, grill going, even a beer snagged from the bar, because, why not?

It was shockingly normal considering it was going to be followed up by a memorial service for Caroline, a woman he'd barely known but found himself emotionally invested in. Maybe that was just what this was, a new normal that he was still getting used to.

Sleep (get some)

Characters: Mojo
Setting: Her room, corridors, night

Somehow, the whole day had slipped by without Mojo noticing. Mealtimes, journal entries from the others, even basic movement had gone unheeded since that morning. She'd come back to her room after seeing Caroline be carried from the courtyard, and really, Mojo felt like she'd made it out of sight in the nick of time.

Once the door had closed? She'd just drifted away, settling on the floor with her back to her bed and staring into open space. It didn't matter where she looked, all that she saw was the blanket over a body, the limp limbs being juggled and held by the guys carrying her. Reece, the doctor, and she was pretty sure Brady? But Mojo still hadn't directly met him yet.

It was an immediate tether back through the months to a cool night back in Colorado, to screaming for the paramedics until her throat was raw... to staying with Scott until he'd died with a whimper. All told, the memories were enough to leave Mojo clenching her own hands together the same way she'd held Scott's and render her clueless to the hours falling away; alone and reliving it all.

She was stiff when she finally got up from the floor, knees popping as Mojo moved to her desk and skimmed the journals in the dark of her room. This was going to get worse, she knew. She needed to be ready for it, maybe prepare her room as a sanctuary for when it got too bad to deal with beyond it. And for now? She needed to not be alone.

Mojo only ended up outside for five minutes, maybe. She'd slipped out and locked up, lingering at the edge of the courtyard for a minute to just stare at where everything had happened. Then? She'd started the short distance towards Reece's room, figuring that maybe knocking hard enough would get her a bit of company for a few hours. Mojo didn't quite make it over before the door opened and she stayed in the shadows, just watching.

A woman stepped out and away, moving into the dark of the facility. And Mojo? She just smiled, thumping a hand over her heart before she turned to head back to her room. "Good on ya, Conners," she said to herself, "Here's hoping it gets you some sleep." It'd be good if at least one of them got some, and in Mojo's head? That was a phrase with two very different meanings, both of which she hoped came true for Reece.

at the scene

Characters: Jae and Open
Setting: The Courtyard, morning

Jae had set herself up right around where the blood was, looking up towards the dark skies. It was going to storm today, she could feel it in the charge in the air. Mentally, she was narrowing down the make of the chopper that she'd heard, even if it was brief. It was better than sitting there thinking they were going to have to deal with a corpse, and she had no idea what the hell that was going to entail.

Well, that and she was really hoping Brady was over stating things when he dropped the Hannibal Lector comment. Cuz... seriously, that was a whole lot of no.

Characters: anyone heading to the kitchen
Setting: the kitchen

Jae and Brady headed into the kitchen, and Jae went straight to the coffee pot to put some on. Sighing, she considered, then shrugged, and started getting out ingredients to make a big ole batch of french toast for anyone who wanted any. "French toast, coming up for anyone hungry!"

Vote with Your Feet, People!

Characters: Charlie and open to all!!
Setting: The Courtyard, following directly on from this scene

Charlie decided that, if they were ever going to reach a conclusion about this bullshit, someone was going to have to take charge. Proper charge. And that, he decided, may as well be him.

He jumped up onto one of the stocks and balanced himself, raised up above the milling people and standing on what was the focus of their conversations, if not their direct attention. "Okay, people. Look - I get it. We've been put in a shitty situation. Apparently, two people here have fucked up. Nobody's bothered to tell us how, or give us any information, other than the fact that we're meant to put them into these things here." He banged his foot hard several times against the wood. "So, we can stand here and argue about 'human rights' and 'cruel and unusual punishment' and what the fuck they will do to us if we don't bow to their every command. But, really, it comes down to a simple choice: are we doing this or not?" He let that question linger for a moment or two, then continued. "So, what I suggest is a really simple check. Everyone who thinks that we should go ahead with the punishment as mandated, go stand over by the tool shed. Those that think we should look up at the cameras and say 'fuck you' to the people watching? You go stand by the gym. Let's see what we all think. Vote with your feet people!" he announced, before jumping down, and heading right over to stand by the gym. He leaned against the building, waiting to see what everyone else would do.

Float On

Characters: Mojo and OPEN
Setting: Pool, afternoon
Warnings: NSFW

By all rights, Mojo knew she could be doing better things with her time than this. There was apparently no shortage of work around the facility waiting to be done, and with the new additions she'd read about on the terminals, it was at least a full day's worth of catching up for her to really explore everything. Maybe in a while she would, maybe when she wanted some lunch.

For now, though? She was in love with the pool, not to mention the raft Mojo was sprawled on with one hand in the water, idly propelling her at a snail's pace. She'd grabbed a book from the library, deftly maintaining its' place and dryness with her other hand as Mojo smiled to herself. Sleeping in, breakfast, a dip in the pool that had her hair still clinging to her cheeks, and one of her favorite books? Mojo wasn't entirely sure she wanted to leave any more.

It's homemade pizza

Characters: Carmel, Leandro, OPEN to any who want to pizza party
Setting: Kitchen, around 4:30/5:00p.m.

Carmel had the dough ready, of course. She'd done that much earlier in the day, and scoured around for any and all potential toppings she thought anyone might be interested in. She filched a pepperoni from its pack and popped it in her mouth, hoping that everyone would enjoy the change of pizza to everything else she'd been doing so far.

Though she was tired--more than she wanted to be, that was for sure--she was looking forward to it. Leandro was generally good for cheering a person in a way, and she looked forward to getting to know him a little better, along with whoever else chose to show up. Which reminded her she should probably post something on her journal, which she went to do very quickly before setting herself up in the kitchen, setting up the dough for the first pizza.
