Gabriel had come to New York to discuss a few things with his brother - Ariel, for one - but for some reason, Az wasn't responding to his summons. It probably meant he was topside, or even Below, but the important thing was, he wasn't on Earth. He figured he'd just teleport into Az's house, leave a note and tell his younger brother to get his ass to Hawaii so they could talk.
He popped into what looked like a living room, well appointed. Gabe looked around, raising an eyebrow, before starting to look for paper. That didn't last long, though; he heard footsteps somewhere in the flat or on the stairs. "Az?" he called. "Az, it's Gabe. That you?" |

WARNINGS: Um. Possible violence, and a decent amount of profanity. And Ariel's an angstmuffin, at least for now, but if you've read anything with him in it, you know that.
It had been a decent amount of time since Ariel had returned to Calliope's flat from his sojourn, and all of it, aside from eating and washing time, had been spent with the Key. He'd worked until his eyes had given out, falling asleep splayed in the middle of a thousand traps, drawn again and again on all the paper he had at hand. His sleep was blank, or something protected him from the dreams that were likely all of Helena in her tiny enclave of hell.
Dante's Inferno speaks of suicides as trees, denied human bodies in hell for their act of self-destruction on Earth. Minos the Judge flings their souls into the Suicide Wood, and they take root where they land. Their leaves are forever picked at and eaten by harpies, and when they bleed, they may speak, but only then.
The devil's trap was not yet complete; Singer and Lebeau had disowned him. His own intellect was exhausted and in a state of constant fury, but he was doing the best he could. He stayed indoors; if he looked at a single gnarled tree, he would cry and never stop.
It was night now, and the rooms were so high up, there would be no branches casting shadows. He shuffled from his room, looking for something to eat. |

He'd lost track of time, though he did know it hadn't been a fortnight since he'd last left Calliope. He hoped she'd not been angry or worried, but the idea of speaking at all had been untenable. He still felt hollow, in between the numbing pulses of fury.
He knocked on the door, hoping she was in. If she wasn't, he'd go to the park. He'd be no help to Helena's soul if Calliope murdered him by mistake. |

Ariel knew he probably appeared to be on the brink of death, between his weakness and how pale he knew he'd gone as soon as Calliope had explained some of her dream. She looked like her ... she even acted like her, though Calliope had more of these 'modern' sensibilities, of course. Was it this world's idea of a trick? Fate?
He'd tottered out of his makeshift sickroom, turning the corner, not wanting to bother to knock but in the end his manners won out. He tapped the door, perhaps a bit harder than strictly proper. |

It was a nice evening out, and Pam had asked Calliope if she wanted to go out shopping. As much as she liked shopping with Erik, he was a man and therefore hardly qualified to know what looked good on her and what didn't. Even if he'd been around her for such a long time. She was wearing a nice pink dress that looked almost like it came out of the 50s, and her hair was up in a pony tail.
She came down to the front of the club and looked around for Calliope, wondering if she was there yet. They had some bonding to do perhaps, or they could hate each other. At the moment she thought it could go either way. Though at the very least she was no longer jealous. |

What: A bit of cat-and-mouse.

Warnings: Mun-coordinated violence, blood play, definately an 'R'.
Malakai was leaning over a bridge near one of the entrances to the park- not necessarily the one closest to Calliope's home, but he had no doubt she would find him, when she cared to look. A cigarette hung from his lips, embers glowing in the light breeze around the park. It was enough to chill him, lacking the warmth of a live body, and he pulled his coat closer to himself, adjusting the knives stashed at his waist. He had little intention of using them, having brought them more out of habit, and as a precaution, than anything else.
It was unusual, for him to have offered himself so readily for the fight, but with Calliope, it really was a beautiful thing to see; she had a way about her hunting that he could appreciate, and if he had to be on the receiving end of it to witness it again, so be it. Besides, he had been behaving far too well, lately. He needed a bit of an outlet, and this would serve the purpose as well as, if not better than, any human he might find.
Eyes lazily scanned the passers-by, knowing he would be able to sense her before he saw her, but still wanting something to distract him, until she arrived. |
