Who: Malakai Chmelyk and Calliope Sedant
What: A meeting of like minds, lightening Kai's mood, and his hunger
When/where: 11:00 pm EST, outside Calliope's flat in New York City
Rating/Warnings: R, for macabre humor, graphic violence, discussions of torture and other things. Vampires, folks.

Much of Malakai's day after his conversation with Calliope had been spent doing research over the internet; Rurik had since gone to investigate things for himself, having the luxury of wandering the streets in daylight. Still, Kai had gathered much of what he'd needed to know, even if it wasn't the answers he'd wanted.

There was no Sanguine Corporation, the boy hadn't been lying. There were no companies dealing in synthetic blood, that he could tell, designer or otherwise. The blood banks no longer offered prices- or didn't offer them yet, he realized. Probably had something to do with the fact that there was little to no record of any real vampires in the media, besides a few horribly written television series and movies. Vampire rights was a non-issue, because no one believed they actually existed.

He had lived before such things, he really shouldn't feel as depressed as he did, over the entire experience. As much as he tried to avoid thinking of it, he did remember how to hunt, how to kill. And yet it really wasn't like the dogs- he was killing to live, not just to get his kicks. He wasn't some animal, he just had needs that couldn't otherwise be addressed, by alcohol or food. Old arguments, old platitudes sprang to the front of his mind as easy as the night he had been Turned, and it settled him enough to allow his date with Calliope to be kept.

His research on the magical transport system kept his interest until late into the night- what would just be nightfall, in New York City. Malakai ventured to the location listed on the website, and after a glare at the guardian of the device, took ahold of it and allowed it to whisk him across the ocean, towards his date.

He hadn't been to New York City in years, but his sense of direction was keen, and he caught his bearings easily enough, arriving at Calliope's door just before eleven. He rang the bell, calling up with his name before waiting, adjusting the fluid leather jacket around his body; it was easy enough to move in, for the hunt, but still rather chilling, given the cold night air.

Morning meeting handled, the evening was free for her dinner with Johanna and later appointment with Malakai. She made her way to her front door (thank heavens for doormen) when she heard his name, smiling to herself. She wore her leisure clothes - a woman's business skirt-suit without the jacket. No need to be uncomfortable during her offtime.

Her red hair was down - a rarity unless she wasn't working - and she tossed it over her shoulder as she opened the door. She wasn't sure what she'd been expecting, but he certainly wasn't it. His leather jacket made her smirk, her rigid posture a stark contrast to his more casual posture. "Mister Chmelyk. So glad you made it."

Malakai was a definite disappointment, when it came to the traditional romantic vision of vampires; he looked like a vagabond on his best days, that sort of unkempt dissention from fashion that only one truly out of touch with society could manage. Today, obviously, wasn't one of his best days, and while he was properly groomed, his clothes were ill-fitting, obviously for a somewhat taller man; in truth, they were stolen from Rurik's closet, when he had been on his way out the door. Even his posture lacked the usual self-assured air that came from a being who knew he was in a position of power, instead on edge, as if at the ready for an attack. After years of tense peace with the shapeshifters and the constant fear and hate of humans, he was much more likely to fight, on a night out, than enjoy himself.

Still, the sight of the woman at the door earned a small smile, and a respectful nod. "So glad you were able to join me, tonight. I must say, you're even more beautiful in person."

For her part, Calliope looked less like a vampire and more like the tired CEO she'd replaced. It usually ended up working out to her advantage, because most people for some reason tended to trust pale, petite women who dressed well. So much the worse for them.

She took his compliment in stride, smiling and inclining her head as she moved aside to let him into her flat. "Thank you very much. I apologize I'm not entirely ready - I had a meeting run late. Please, come in for a moment. Would you like a drink?" She walked off, heels clacking on the wood floor of the entryway. She moved to a table where some hairpins were laid out and started the process of pinning her hair up and back which was her standard procedure for when she went out hunting.

Turning to smile at him she went to a large chest of drawers and opened the large middle cabinet exposing where she kept her guns and surgical tools. "Need anything? I'll expect it back, of course."

He relaxed when she invited him in, following her to the front room to sit in a nearby chair as she pinned her hair back. When she opened the drawer, he looked over the wares. He had a knife up one sleeve, and the gun he'd managed to get on the plane with him, at his ankle. That didn't mean he couldn't admire her collection, however.

"No, I'm fine, unless... Are there dogs in the area?" The gun he had, had silver bullets, but it was just a six-shooter- if there was a chance they would run into more, he'd need another.

"Not that I'm aware of. I'm rather glad - where I'm from, I specialized in their disposal. It's nice not to have to be so cautious, though I'm afraid old habits die hard." She reached out for her standard Desert Eagle, rolling up her skirt to put it into a thigh holster she'd had specially made large enough to carry the bulky gun. It meant she had to wear a long coat, but she didn't mind. A scalpel went into the strap of her bra, a plastic cap keeping her from slicing herself open. "That should be fine; the gun's mostly precaution anyway." She shut and locked the cabinet, clicking over to the doorway to claim a tailored trench coat. "Shall we?"

"We had a tenative agreement, in my world, but it collapsed as the humans became fewer and farther between." He watched her strap the gun to her thigh with a small smirk- he couldn't hide his excitement, at the prospect of a hunt, and while his glance probably seemed untoward, it was more for the gun, than her leg.

When she grabbed her coat, he stood, nodding once and moving to the doorway himself. "Indeed we shall, m'lady,"

"My mistress worked for a corporation that was a fairly powerful multinational presence. Unfortunately, a lycan had an equal corporation. Alas, the corporate world can be bloody." She smirked a little, shrugging into her jacket.

She took the elevator down to the bottom floor, managing a decent facsimile of a warm smile for the doorman. Her hands in her pockets, she took Malakai's arm to maintain the image that they were on some sort of date - a decent enough alibi lest someone wonder what they'd gotten up to. As they rounded the corner, walking away from her apartment, she smiled up at him. "Did you have any ideas for targets?"

Malakai nodded as she spoke. "My House wasn't to be bothered, with the corporate world, much. Far too many rules, for our liking," While he had been in the open, as an Elder, he'd had to greatly subdue his Invidia tendencies, for recklessness and destruction. Here, now, he seemed to be nearly salivating at the prospect of a hunt.

Draping her arm over his as they exited into the night air, he took a breath of the crisp night air, sighing it out in an unnecessary breath. "I'm not usually the type to profile. I'm certain something will catch my eye, soon,"

She almost purred. "Mmm, chaos. Taking children from their mothers, lovers from their betrothed, friends from friends and for no reason other than it pleases us." She smiled and closed her eyes. "There's few things to live for, but oh so many to kill for."

He coult tell, then, that she was very much kindred to the soul he'd been before- rash, destructive, near cruel, for his own enjoyment. His mind flashed back to the other, Turner, and his words- savages, animals.

The fact that he had it in him at all, to be guilty, was a shock, enough so that he was driven to grin, a dangerous thing, and nod. "It has been far too long, since I've indulged a baser pleasure. Let's try it all, darling,"

"All? All right, then." Smirking, she reached up to prick her finger against his teeth, beaming when it drew blood. She'd fed earlier in the day, so a bright maroon drop rest there for a moment before she gently smeared it onto his lower lip. Admiring her handiwork for a moment, she giggled and skipped off into the night, a couple steps out of his reach.

Malakai drew in a breath when he felt the finger against his tooth, the smell and feel of the blood on his lip enticing his tongue out to taste. The coppery liquid got a moan from the man, as he jogged the couple steps to catch up with the lady, reaching out to catch her arm and pull her into his embrace.

Not one to be shy about such things, he worried his lower lip with his teeth, hard enough to draw blood, and pressed them down against Calliope's in a chaste-enough kiss, just to share the blood with her.

Calliope hadn't been expecting his response to be quite so enthusiastic. It was a wonder that she didn't hate forward men after her childhood, but she found herself smirking broadly when he pulled her into his arms.

The chaste kiss wasn't nearly enough for her, and remember that he'd said he wanted to try everything, she kissed him hard and sloppy, letting her lips scrape open against his teeth and making his bleed harder. Her petite frame scrabbled against his for leverage, arms wrapping around his neck as she tiptoed upward and looked as out of place in her perfectly pressed attire as anyone ever had.

He wasn't pressing as such, and if she'd protested, he would draw back- he simply couldn't think of a better way, to let her taste him as she had allowed.

Arms wrapped around her waste to hold her up, the kiss returned with furvor until he felt himself teetering on the edge of the lust from the blood on their lips, and he had to draw back.

"Be a shame to get you all dressed, only to make a mess of it. At least so soon. Besides, I'm certain we're causing a scene." Indeed, they did have a few spectators, but he took care of the majority of them with a cold glare.

She was breathing hard from the mingling of blood and the thrill of random contact, but his words had merit. "Oh, but messy is fun," she pouted, lips plush and red but not from lipstick. She wiped an errant drop from his cheek and continued walking next to him, oblivious to the gawkers. It was New York; they'd likely find something else to stare at soon enough.

Calliope was giggling, in high spirits and well amused. She figured they'd walk for a while and she'd let him pick out the target. Only fair, really - she was a good hostess.

"Later, then, how's that? I'm famished," The words got a smirk, complete with fangs, as he turned his attention back on the populace wandering the streets.

It didn't take him long before he honed in on a pair of boys, young and rambunctious, stumbling and shoving at one another as they walked from a bar. An easy enough target, to start- and he was always partial to drunk blood. He gently tapped her shoulder and pointed them out.

"Suits me, for now."

Calliope nodded at his selection, grinning. She sighed as she took her hair out of its updo, wishing she hadn't bothered at all. She wiggled a bit, riding her skirt up higher on her thighs without exposing her holster, grinning up at Malakai. "If they like me, I'll lead. If they like you, pretty, you go." She winked and walked toward them with a wry smile.

Malakai nodded, grinning. With a bit of a quicker step, he drew up behind the pair after a short minute, close enough to be conspicuous. As they turned around, they glanced from Malakai to Calliope, obviously more interested in her than him. They spoke between themselves in quick Spanish, tongues clicking at her, obviously leering.

"See something you like, sexy?" Obviously drunk, then.

Oh, and they were pigs. That made things even more easy. She pretended to giggle shyly and duck into an ally, ostensibly to get away from their leers and advances.

She let herself be backed into a corner, doing a convincing enough job of looking scared that she fooled the drunkards. If they'd been sober, they likely would've just laughed at her silent movie starlet gasps filled with melodrama. "I - oh, how'd we get here? Please don't hurt me."

For his part, Malakia couldn't help the soft chuckle, as she gasped and put up a nominal fight. He didn't let then get so far as to impugn her integrity, but waited a minute until they were off guard, before he struck.

He was suddenly behind the pair, imposingly so, thankful they were close enough together that he could get an arm around each of their shoulders, in what could have been mistaken for a drunken hug.

"Now now, boys, someone really should teach you just what a lady deserves." They tried to shrug him off, but he held firm, his grip in their shoulders hard enough to bruise. That seemed to sober the idiots up enough to start to struggle, which only made his grin widen.

"Which would you like, dear girl? I dare say, they made this too easy," No sooner were the words spoken, than one threw a head-butt back in his direction, and he stumbled back. Well, that was just aggrivating.

Calliope smirked as he put his arms around them, moving away and shrugging off her jacket. She watched as one managed to actually best him for a moment. So much was the worse for him; in a heartbeat she had her scalpel out of her bra, unsheathed, and had moved close so she could sink it into his eye. She didn't have to push hard at all, and she kept herself at eye level.

It was her voice that tended to unnerve them. She spoke almost soothingly. "That hurts, doesn't it. It'll get worse, I'm sorry." She stroked his hair before looking back at Malakai. "Feed on this one, if you wish." Wrenching her wrist to free the scalpel from the deep recesses of the optical cavity, she smiled at him.

The injured boy was already screaming, and it only served to annoy Malakai, so he went for the throat first, the knife from his sleeve inserted just so, to disable his vocal cords without too much blood loss. He would have gone into shock, eventually, but Kai was far from patient, wanting to start his treat, now.

His knife cut through the boy's shirt like butter, leaving him bare-chested in the cool night air. He started at the collarbone, teeth nibbling and biting the skin, just soft enough to keep from breaking the skin. After a minute of teasing, lulling the man into a false sense of security, he snapped and bit down, timing the euphoria from the pain of his feed directly with a sharp stab to the chest. Pulling the knife up, he gutted him, from navel to breastbone. The boy fell, then, Malakai descending on the body like little more than a dog, drinking from the wounds in his chest, hands and neck growing covered in the blood as he did so. It was wasteful, indulgent, but he couldn't contain himself; it was always like this, after so long.

She wanted to watch Malakai, bask in the simple joy of watching someone really enjoying what they were doing, but there was the matter of the other boy who was half trying to escape and half trying not to throw up. She walked over to him, only hurrying to jump on him and put a hand over his mouth to quiet his screams. As to not attract anymore undue attention, she simply snapped his neck with her strong hands, dragging his body over to where Malakai was eating. She couldn't help but watch for a moment, her tongue peeking out over her lower lip in hunger and arousal.

The body under him- it was little more than that, now- was still clinging to life, although the sentiment was quickly fading, thanks to blood loss and the teeth picking at arteries, neatly severing the connections to suck the blood out as one might drink from a straw. There had been a time when he had been controlled, precise enough to leave the organs intact enough to sell, but he was hardly concerned with that now, too caught up in his meal.

He glanced up to her, eyes almost black with his bloodlust, when he felt her watching. Still, he made no move toward or away. It might be a different story, if she tried to touch the corpse, but he was fine with where she was, just then.

Calliope smiled at him, not moving to touch his meal, but instead propping her body up against the wall and moving to sink her fangs into a vein while the heart still pumped its last few death rattles. Her feeding, by contrast, was dainty and ladylike, and likely designed as to not stain her dress. Her torture, her methods of play tended to involve seeing how long she could keep them alive. This was brutal and hungry, something else entirely.
