Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:calliope sedant, kokabiel

WHO: Kokabiel and Calliope
WHAT: Making friends, of a sort
WHERE: Calliope and Az's place
WARNINGS: The usual whenever Calliope's involved in interactions. And swearing.

Kokabiel had told Uzza where she was going and when she'd be back, more for her own mind than because he'd worry - he never worried. But still. She'd made her way up to Azrael's place, and was knocking on the door. "Azzy?" She called. "Azrael, are you there?" One didn't pry into the minds of archangels, so she'd just popped to him instead.

Calliope wasn't in much of a position to answer the door at just that moment; her hands were covered in blood, and she sighed as she set down the liver she'd just excavated. "Coming!" Her voice was cheery, and she washed her hands in the sink in her kill room. But her hair was still streaked with dried blood, much darker than the natural red, and the "kiss the cook!" apron she wore over her business suit was dried and matted with blood as well.

Her bare feet made no sound as she opened the door up a smidgen. "I'm afraid he's on business right now, would you like to wait?"

Kokabiel blinked, noticing the blood and her hair. She did remember Uzza had said Az's lady friend was a vampire, though; maybe she was just a messy eater. "I'm just a friend of his; I just got here to this ... place." She shrugged. "I wanted to see him. I'm actually going to work for him."

"Oh, really? In that case, come on in. He'll probably be by in about..." Calliope opened the door and looked at her watch. "Oh, I give him another four hours." She smiled a little to herself and extended her hand. "I'm Calliope, Az's." She usually didn't say "lover" or "girlfriend". Their bond was deeper than that; she simply belonged to Azrael. "Come on in."

"I've heard about you from my brother." Kokabiel smiled. "I don't wanna keep you away from ... your things ... for too long. But maybe I'll wait for a while. If that's all right." She walked in, looking around, smiling. "What a nice place." Az wouldn't have anything less.

"Oh, it's fine. If you know Azrael, I trust you to be here while I work." She tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear and moved toward her workroom. "Oh, thank you. Azrael moved in with me and we picked out a few things that we both liked, but by and large it's my tastes." She chuckled and moved into the work room, smiling at the tongueless man sprawled out on a medical table in its centre.

"My name is Kokabiel, by the way." She would have said more, but then she saw the 'work room'. Kokabiel blinked. She hadn't been expecting the woman to be quite so frank with her, but it was probably a good thing. "I presume it's his time?" She nodded at the man. If she lived with Az, she would understand the allusion.

"It is now," she murmured. "Well, not just now. But soon." She stroked the man's cheek, sighing as she noticed he'd gone into shock again. She made quick work of perking him up - starting an IV drip and a blood drip as well. "It's nice to meet you, Kokabiel. You're an angel as well, I take it?"

If it was the man's time, Kokabiel couldn't very well object. "I am. I'm a reaper." She looked down at the human, barely clinging to life. "Are you a doctor?"

"I was one of the first women in the United States to be trained as such." It was a point of pride for Calliope, and she ran her fingers through the man's hair for a few moments.

Huh. Kokabiel raised an eyebrow. "That's impressive. I've had a lot of time to learn stuff, but never really got the chance. I lived in Louisiana after I was sent down, and I couldn't leave a certain area." She shrugged. "I can give the most fire and brimstone sermon you ever saw?"

"You're an angel, of course you can." She chuckled and smiled, clapping her hands girlishly as the man's eyelids fluttered. "This one thought he was going to get the drop on me. Normally I don't do this sort of thing on Tuesdays, but I didn't want to allow that."

She could also understand getting the drop on someone who was trying to murder you. "We sort of try to be above that kind of thinking, but it makes sense for people who aren't angels. I mean, people who can die." She wouldn't go into the discussion of reaping; if she was with Az, she knew how it went. "Do you just try to practice?"

"It used to be my job. Now I simply enjoy it. This is my art." She was almost sheepish, and she shrugged, licking some blood off of her fingers. Her nose wrinkled; the man was bitter. "He wasn't long for this world anyway. He's got cancer."

Kokabiel was honest, as she tried to be. "I can't approve, but I figure you don't care, and I do at least get the reason why people do this kind of thing." Hell, she might have been doing the same thing, if she'd been human. And at least the woman was meticulous.

"I don't ask that anyone approve, but understanding is something I appreciate." She smiled a little, tonguing her fangs and sighing. "Azrael has understood me for a very long time."

That was kind of sweet, if she was understanding it right. "You've known each other a long time, then? I've known Az since before my Fall, though we sorta lost touch between then and now."
