Spinning Compass Comunications

Dan is singing loudly along with what he's playing on his stereo and is clearly happy as he's singing since the snow's going away. He doesn't care if the phone's broadcasting or not.

[Sarah had teased a young Miguel, when he had got caught singing along, that a little Karma would find it's way to her door. One of her favorite songs was playing in the background, and she was singing along, loudly.]

[LOUD Norse swearing]

[accidental radio broadcast]

...no, it doesn't look like there's anyone else around. We'll have to walk a bit further. Teddy! Teddy, give me that, I told you not to touch anything in here. You...what is that? [the sound starts cutting in and out as she's trying things with the phone, but several voices are heard indistinctly]

No, we can't take it, it must belong to someone. [a thud as she sets the phone down]

[a soft pained groan, followed by a sharp intake of breath, and then very faint speaking, in a pretty rough voice]

Shocking hell...

[a radio broadcast opens with someone giving the impatient-sounding prompt 'Go on, speak into that. Not here! Outside the shop. Go outside!' The next voice is a child's]

What is it? Does it have powder inside? I need a fire to put it in. I didn't mean to break things! I think I'm lost.

[a door slams shut, loudly]

Q, have you got me that helicopter?

Q, come in. Q?

What the...?

[Radio]

[The first transmission is nothing but brief bursts of static. It's not Morse Code, although those familiar with that might suspect a similar attempt at communication. It's not decipherable.]

[Next, through the static, comes an intense, quick whisper, repeated like an incantation or prayer.]

...in kashanin shuret, in kashanin shuret, dalatya in kashanin shuret...

[The encoded message is repeated, and then she speaks more deliberately, and with some urgency.]

The strike is abandoned! I repeat, the strike is abandoned! They know we're here. Lu, it went dark and I don't know where in kehen I am right now but if you can hear me then you need to call the others back. Now!

[Eggsy is out walking in the park on Wheel 3 and singing to himself, and unsuprisingly, the phones are broadcasting]

[lots of soft Norse swearing and then a big sigh]

[When the song started playing, the phone was clearly far away from the singer...]

[Astrid's phone has clearly been talking to Dan's, and this time she's the one being broadcast as she sings while she's cooking. She has a nice voice, although not nearly as good as some, and she's switching between old Norse songs and her favourites that she's learned since arriving on the station. She is obviously unaware that her phone is doing such a thing]

[Danny is sitting somewhere in the Mall on wheel 3 that's near the food court, that lets him look out at Space, trying to take photos of the stars and the planet while he smokes and drinks beer that he got from Bryn's, and is accidentally broadcasting as he talks to himself since he hit the wrong buttons]

-eft ear, right ear and Space! The final front ear!

Shit photo, Danno... uhm, Abra'll help me later, yeah.

[the clicking of a lighter can be heard, and then a bottle cap being opened, before he starts singing quietly to himself]

[If anyone was listening to the radio station that was set up on the station they would hear this through whatever they were using to listen]

That was "Take on Me" by Ah-ha from way back in 1985. Back when it was okay for men or women to sport the mullet. I'm pretty sure I did, but then I was only five so it wasn't exactly my choice.

[Her chuckle was husky but soft]

But because I'm feeling nostalgic, fast forward it two years, and we get "Alone" by Heart.

[On the radio they'd hear this. But anyone listening to the CB instead would get Heather keeping up with Ann and Nancy Wilson.]

[His voice sounds pained as he speaks but in typical John fashion he is trying to put on a brave face.]

[The sound of a lighter follows, closing with that signature metallic clack sound.]

But it caught me off guard a few times. So if someone wouldn't mind coming and helping us, that'd be appreciated. Cheers.

And Higgs? You're fucked, mate.

[The sender actively blocked who they were, so the only people who would know her voice would be the ones who had heard her sing before. Which would not be many, because she's not one to spontaneously burst out into song. And her singing voice is very different from her speaking voice. And obviously bereft of her strange accent.]

[OoC: Spoken in Old Norse, and broadcast over the phones accidentally. It's obvious that Astrid is doing something as she talks quietly to herself. For any Norse gods who might be getting this in a more direct way, she's been praying off and on for a little while now, since she woke up.]
