Sooooo, in the midst of Susan's disappearance, today was a GREAT day for the Auror department. Like, for serious. KINGSLEY ALMOST SMILED! Anyway, I've included more details below, and also some helpful game-wide info on what the differences between the Hit Wizard and Auror departments are. :)

June 9 :: Muggle Studies class is throwing a 6th & 7th year prom. [Thread]
June 10 :: Hogwarts Class of 1998 Graduation*
June 13 :: Hogwarts Express leaves.

* The 7th Years have come to the end of their years at Hogwarts. Family, friends, and alumni will come together for the graduation ceremony, which will take place on the Quidditch pitch and be followed by a grand feast in the Great Hall.

Tomorrow afternoon, an announcement will be made regarding the new Hogwarts Headmaster.

Amelia Bones has been elected Minister for Magic.

Her replacement at Hogwarts will be named at this year's graduation ceremonies. Her duties as Minister will begin July 1.

Due to surprising results at yesterday's Minister for Magic elections, the Ministry is asking for a run-off election among three final candidates.

WHAT: The Annual Hogsmeade Spring Carnival
WHO: Anyone who wants to go! This weekend, Hogsmeade students (unless they're running booths during the week).
WHEN: March 7 - March 12
WHERE: Hogsmeade

Visit Hogsmeade Wednesday through Monday for its annual spring carnival!

The Hogwarts houses and clubs, British & Irish Quidditch League teams, Ministry departments, and small businesses all have booths for games, rides, or food. Shows, including a Saturday at noon concert by the incomparable Lorcan d'Eath.

The weather promises to be slightly chilly, with a chance of rain only Friday or Monday.

1. Sign ups for the Dueling Tournament, which will take place the last 3 weekends in March, began yesterday. If you can comment below with your character's name if they're signing up, that would be great. I'll have more information on the tournament when I'm not running out the door.

2. The Gryffindor - Ravenclaw Quidditch match happened today, beginning at 2. It lasted just about 3.5 hours with a final score of ... wait for it! ... Gryffindor 340 and Ravenclaw 280. All of the Ravenclaw points were scored by their chasers. Harry Potter caught the snitch to end (and win) the game. Congratulations to Gryffindor!

WHAT: The 6th & 7th Year Muggle Studies class performs Romeo & Juliet
WHO: Hogwarts students, anyone who came to the castle for a day. Unfortunately, castle wards do prohibit the families of Muggleborn students from attending.
WHEN: Sunday, 3:00PM
WHERE: Hogwarts, Great Hall

Professor Burbage thought it was a good idea to put on Shakespeare, and of course she chose the most cliched play for school-age students -- Romeo and Juliet. The Great Hall is transfigured into a stage and small auditorium. The costumes are a strange mismatch of Muggle and magical, but at least the time period is right. The show goes off fairly well, excepting a mishap with the fake blood during Mercutio's death scene and the fact that the balcony wobbled and creaked. Also, someone had stage fright and got sick just off stage (if it was you, own up to it!). Otherwise, everyone enjoyed it and probably laughed at the funny and the not-supposed-to-be-funny bits.

ETA: Apparently some Slytherins decided to convince Peeves to throw rotten vegetables at the stage, so the play was interrupted fora time just before Act III.

WHAT: The Annual Sweethearts Dance
WHO: Current 6th and 7th Years, Hogwarts alumni from 1994 to 1997.
WHEN: Sunday, 5:00PM
WHERE: Hogwarts, Great Hall

The Great Hall is over-the-top but luckily not a deluge of pink. Flitwick and McGonagall charmed and transfigured things to smell sweetly, sparkle, glow in soft pinks and reds, and give a general romantic feel. Think the Yule Ball, where there are round tables set up around the perimeter and an open dance floor. There is an eight-piece orchestra that takes requests, giving contemporary music, even, a classical spin. There is food galore -- mostly sweets but some savory dishes as well. Rose-water punch and strawberry ice cream. Blackberry apple cider. Chocolates. Cakes. Customizable, charmed candy hearts are available to give to your date or your best mate. There are some WWW Valentine's pinwheel fireworks overhead. If you can imagine it, it's happening.
