( Lisa was finishing her dessert, a little late, yes, but nothing too out of the ordinary when an owl she didn't recognize dropped a large, mauve envelope into her lap. )

WHO: Anthony and Lisa

WHERE: 7th year boys' dorm, Ravenclaw Tower
WHAT: Tony is doing homework. Lisa wants attention from her boyfriend.

The carnival over the weekend had meant that the Head Boy had to be—well, Head Boy. Curfew checks, head counts, rule reminders, and one of the last to get to say lights out. It hadn't made for a productive weekend. He was distraught. He had three essays due by the end of the week and none of them were up to his usual standard. He'd turned in his Potions essay with only one revise, and the others weren't even ready to be edited yet. It was a little distressed for him, actually.

But he was in good company. Felicia sat in her usual perch on the edge of his nightstand, her tail brushing his arm on occasion. On his other side was Lisa. She, he noted, had not brought books with her when he pulled her up here from the overly crowded common room. His left hand rested idly on her thigh while he wrote with his right. His tongue stuck out of the corner of his mouth, deep in concentration.

WHAT: The Annual Sweethearts Dance
WHO: Current 6th and 7th Years, Hogwarts alumni from 1994 to 1997.
WHEN: Sunday, 5:00PM
WHERE: Hogwarts, Great Hall

The Great Hall is over-the-top but luckily not a deluge of pink. Flitwick and McGonagall charmed and transfigured things to smell sweetly, sparkle, glow in soft pinks and reds, and give a general romantic feel. Think the Yule Ball, where there are round tables set up around the perimeter and an open dance floor. There is an eight-piece orchestra that takes requests, giving contemporary music, even, a classical spin. There is food galore -- mostly sweets but some savory dishes as well. Rose-water punch and strawberry ice cream. Blackberry apple cider. Chocolates. Cakes. Customizable, charmed candy hearts are available to give to your date or your best mate. There are some WWW Valentine's pinwheel fireworks overhead. If you can imagine it, it's happening.
