Who: Evie S, Wren H, Luke H
What: Catching up after a very long time
When: Lunch time
Where: Luke and Wren's place
Warnings: I don't think so unless everyone goes insane? But all typos are the fault of my new keyboard and I refuse to be held responsible for them.
[Evie spent some time walking around the block near Wren and Luke's place. Not their actual block, just a block near it. From her previous conversations with Wren it seemed Luke might still be a little off, and Wren definitely was, and she didn't want to worry them, but still she walked. She hadn't called yet to say she was on her way, and she'd left the motel early enough that she wasn't going to be late. But she wanted to think. She didn't know what about, but she knew that the room was stifling and she wanted to be outside in the slightly warmer weather, that she could make even warmer if she wanted to. But she hadn't yet.
She walked around and around, thinking all kinds of thoughts, ignoring the voice in her head that wasn't hers telling her she better call and tell them she obviously wasn't going to be able to make it. She wasn't ready to see them. Maybe they weren't ready see her. Maybe they weren't ready to see Daisy. Maybe this was all a terrible idea. She didn't know. She just knew that she wanted to see her friends, and maybe if it went badly it was just one more thing to throw on the giant pile of crap. She pulled out her phone and dialed Luke, when he answered the deep voice in her mind said she wasn't going to make it, but the words that came out of her mouth said she was just up the street and would be there shortly. And she tried to ignore the voice that told her she was stupid for trying this. That it was a bad idea. They didn't want her around.
She approached their door, Pulled Daisy from her stroller and balanced her on her hip and heard the voice again but this time it was so real, so close she actually turned half expecting to see the man standing next to her, but no. He wasn't there. And she was angry at herself that she was disappointed. The words hadn't been nice, the third wheel is here, but still she'd wanted to see him standing there. Clear as she'd heard his voice.
She was tired and it showed, her navy blue dress wasn't pressed, having been living out of a suitcase for weeks now, neither was her sweater, and her coat wasn't hers - having lost it somewhere along the wa. She still wearing Shane's, it was hanging off of her, and it did not smell great. Daisy however, Daisy looked perfect, her outfit was perfectly put together, the hat on loan from the hat shop, and her sunglasses not even the slightest bit crooked as she chewed on cheerios from a ziploc baggie. She was ready with her newest knock-knock joke from Eddie and babbling away in a hodge podge of words as Evie knocked on the front door.]
