Re: Queens: Evie/Wren/Luke
[The process of making coffee was oddly soothing; it didn't require much thought, and with Gus upstairs it was something to do whether or not Evie stayed long enough to have some. Luke listened, too, like he always listened to everything around him, and he looked up when Wren asked if Elena and her husband were nice.] Yeah. [Being a cop didn't mean someone was a good person, he knew better than that. But Cris seemed nice enough and anybody who looked at their kid the way he'd looked at his daughter couldn't be half bad.] I think talking to her first is a good idea. In Vegas, we crossed paths a couple times. When I was the liaison between the LVPD and the CIA, remember? [Elena seemed smart, from what he remembered. Capable. And it helped, that he didn't think she would give Wren (or Evie) a job they weren't qualified or prepared for.
Still, though...] Let me know what she says? [It was casual, offhand, like Luke wasn't the least bit worried. Everyone knew he was a worrier, he couldn't help it, but he could pretend otherwise.
He didn't think Evie walking home was a good idea. The streets weren't safe, he'd known that even before Silent Hill; just because it was daytime didn't mean a woman and a baby walking back to their motel was any better of an idea. And, honestly, Luke had lived in a lot of terrible places over the years-- at this point, nothing could shock him.] It's really no trouble at all, Evie. [He raised his eyebrows, teasing.] Besides, you don't want to argue with Wren when she makes up her mind. Trust me.
