Re: Queens: Evie/Wren/Luke
[Luke said nothing, and Evie said soothing things, and Wren realized everything had come unraveled. The spool gone, and she had no idea how to wind it all up again. She felt like she should, and she felt like it was surely her job to do so, but she didn't know how, and she bit her lip and watched Gus eat, and even Lia was quiet.
But she thought it was good that Daisy had stayed behind. It would've been smarter to leave the kids, instead of taking them to that place to die. But, non- Luke said they weren't dead, and she stopped herself before she could tell Evie that, about it being better that Daisy had been left behind. Better than the things that happened there, in that door. But she was sorry, too, because she'd taken Evie to that place. That was hers, non? Oui, and if Daisy had been left alone, there would be no one to blame but herself.] I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked you to go with me.
[She gave Luke a look, a helpless little thing that said she didn't know what to do.] But we have money. We can give you money, and you don't have to call strangers anymore, and we're here. You don't have to be lonely.
[She said it quietly, grey eyes focused on Lia's head, and then she stood with the baby in her arms.] I'm going to put her down, okay?
