Re: Queens: Evie/Wren/Luke
[Wren almost expected Luke to capitulate and ask Evie to stay. Wren wanted her best friend there, she did, and she'd missed Evie, even if she hadn't remembered it at the time. But she had, and she knew she was isolated these days. But it was hard for her, going outside and talking to people, and maybe other people were better and stronger. Evie was having a hard time, but she was out there, and Wren figured Jack was too. She knew Luke would've probably gone back to work if it wasn't for her, and if he wasn't afraid to leave her with the kids. And she didn't want to go back to work at all. Taking pictures of too-skinny models just felt like air, like nothing at all, and she didn't really want to do it.
But she almost expected Luke to ask Evie to stay, and she listened when Evie talked about Shane, who Wren was already determined not to like on her friend's behalf. Because those weren't nice things to say, and just because someone offered the hospitality of a home didn't make it okay to say things that hurt someone's feelings. She didn't like him.
She hated, hated, hated Will, too. Real Will for dying, and fake Will for being mean.
Luke was offering money, which distracted Wren from her hate, and she expected Evie to say no, but Evie didn't. It made Wren feel a little bit better, and she finished putting the leftovers in the refrigerator and looked over at her brave, brave friend.] We can find a way to do something together? I- I don't really want to go take pictures of beautiful people. [She admitted it sheepishly, because her salary was really, really good, and she knew they had a lot put away because Luke's job had covered everything for months, and her salary had gone into savings, but she really, really didn't want to take those pictures right now; it felt selfish.] I don't know what, but there are things to help people, maybe?
[Luke might not like it, but anything that kept Evie in Marvel more often was good too, right?]
