Who: Dorcas, Alice, & Lily
What: Girl's Night of sorts
Where: Alice's home
When: Saturday night
Rating: Very tame, I imagine
Dorcas has been looking forward to her night with Alice and Lily more than she could possibly put into words. Since returning to London, she felt like she hadn't had a chance to connect to anyone in a way that just allowed her to be herself. She had never imagined what it would be like to come back. She never would have dreamed just how hard it would be to suddenly find herself surrounded by friends that had thought her dead for nearly two decades... and seeing how they had moved on with their lives in such fulfilling ways.
It wasn't that she was jealous, but Dorcas found she was jealous. Lily and Alice both had sons graduating from Hogwarts. They had husbands that loved them and would never leave them. They had stable jobs and homes and a networks of support from both friends and family. Dorcas had none of that, and it was hitting her hard just how much she felt like she'd missed out on her life.
After a dinner of comfort food, the girls had settled in Alice's living room to catch up and bond. Just hearing them speak made her feel like she was back at Hogwarts again, in Gryffindor tower. It was mind boggling to think that each of them had sons of their own the same age she was when she'd last shared a room with the girls.
"So, tell me," Dorcas shook a bottle of nailpolish - bright red. It was time to paint their toenails. "What is it like to be a mother?"
