I absolutely hated being a child the first time around. I didn't suppose this time would be much better, but...

I thought the strange things only happened to my wife and around me. Seems it's clear that's no' the case here and now.

No one at the barn's letting me near Donas, even the ones that believe it's me. Canna say I blame them or dinna see the sense in that, mind you. He's a BIG beastie and far too strong for a bairn of...five years? six? But sense aside, feels like being punched in the gut and left on the ground gasping for air without him here. He's that one bit of home that's made it through and I do miss him.

Somehow it's not so bad as I make it seem...I do ken that there's been a BIT of fortune on my side. I've got a student who's found out he can talk with animals (and wasn't THAT a queer conversation to walk into), so he's been doing the looking after bits, but being put on a PONY, after spending the day at work being asked if I got lost, after so many days of it...

I willnae say it's not been wearying...

I'm really hoping things go back to normal soon. You know, before I motivate myself to figure out how to make it rain fire.

Erik makes a handsome older gentleman but... I miss his more youthful look.

I'm glad you've all calmed down a bit. It was incredibly difficult to block you all out. If there are some of you still struggling with your newfound gifts and find yourselves accidentally eavesdropping on the thoughts of those around you I can help with shielding.

Wanda, dear, I do hope you and the boys are doing well. Billy, Tommy, if either of you need help I would be happy to assist in any way I can.

This has just made it a little harder to get around the hospital as quickly as I normally would. You wouldn't believe how much everything hurts.

Back to normal, I guess? Life is weird.

What is this, even?!

I ought to have asked this a lot sooner. I fear I've been adjusting myself to a strange new ability that I have gained, and did not want to risk harming anyone, but... I have been through something similar to some of you before. I've never quite said all there is to say about myself, and I am still not ready for the full story but...

I've adjusted to extremely altered circumstance before. Confining, horrifying circumstance. The truth is that our mind is an extremely powerful weapon. Part of why some of what has happened to some of us, the ones who haven't always been a part of this place believed it for so long and can adjust now, I think. And it contributes to why some others have trouble, and others who are only affected by the newest events...


At any rate, the thing I learned through my own training, through MY teacher is that you can train your mind to accept almost anything when there is no other possible response. There's this zen term, Gaman. It means that you accept what seems unbearable and you do it with dignity and patience... The theory is that you persevere...that you survive.

If anybody needs help with that...in any of these circumstances... I don't know everything my teacher does yet, probably not ever, but...I CAN get you started. If you wanted.
