Jean was relaxed in her living room. She'd put on her favorite pajamas, and had a mug of tea that was just about to cool to the perfect temperature on the coffee table. She was watching the nightly news, mostly out of habit, though her attention was more on the drawing book in front of her than the television set.
She poked at Nathan a little, to see if he might like to have lunch tomorrow. It seemed like a good idea to her, since it had been a while since she'd seen her son and daughter-in-law. Before she had finished thinking, something interfered, and she blinked, surprised.
And then she screamed. Whatever had just happened, it was painful. She felt as though her mind were on fire, and she curled up, putting her head in her arms, as though that would protect her from the trauma. |

Jean slowly drifted over the area that she was to meet Nathan in, just taking in the scenery, at first. It was a good world, she'd decided, and one she would be glad to make her home in.
She touched down a few minutes before she was due to meet Nate, and took a seat at one of the tables, arranging her skirt so that it let a little airflow blow around her calves. A long dress hadn't been the best outfit choice for a place so close to the equator, but she'd loved it when she saw it. |
