"So, I was thinking about starting to work as a doctor again. What do you think?"

It was the first thing he had said all night, serious, anyway. They had gone out for dinner, and danced, and they were now, hours later, at a cafe that specialized in after hours menus and lighting.

"Seems like life has been pretty busy lately and I feel like... I don't know... giving back some."

He wasn't sure what she would think, really, since he had not talked to her about it before. Her opinion was important to him, and as he sipped his chocolate shake, he tried to not radiate as much nervousness as he felt.

Jean smiled. "That sounds wonderful! It will be nice seeing you interacting with people, instead of working long distance. Though I will miss having you all to myself."

She stroked his hand softly, her smile warm and loving. "But having regular office hours will give our lives a little more stability. And I can do my homework in the waiting room when I get bored. I'm honestly still almost creeped out when the house is quiet."

	He nodded, and kissed her hand as he raised it to his mouth. "I will miss that, too, but being with you when we have days off, planning vacations together, if you want... that would be nice."
