Belle leaned on the railing of her porch, a glass of iced tea sweating next to her arm. The kids were playing in front of her, and she watched them, so proud she could burst.
She wasn't really paying attention to the time, content to watch her kids run around and be kids in a way she'd never really gotten to.
It was all that she had ever asked for.
The recent commissions from Cable had wound up taking up a lot of Alex's time, and her brain buzzed with his thoughts. She poked him a little, and told him her plans. As predicted, he didn't mind. She promised him a nice relaxing massage when he finished, and focused on the real world just in time to see Presto as he approached the house. |

Belle stormed into the house, the door slamming behind her. She didn't look left or right, but stomped through the house, to the gym. She went back into the very back room, which was farthest away from the rest of the house and screamed as hard as she could. This whole situation had her so angry she couldn't see straight, and it had been force of will alone that kept her awake on her journey back.
Once she had exhausted her voice she stormed back out, panting and slightly calmer, though she still started in on a rather vigorous session with the punching bag, hitting it with everything she had, hoping that her anger would run out before she fell over. |

The day was going rather slow, for once, and Belle was somewhat relieved. It was just before the Friday rush, and she was taking coffee on the balcony of the Starbucks on the second floor. The view wasn't as spectacular as the restaurant on roof had, but it was kind of nice, in a way, to be able to put a name and face on the people rushing by. At this point, Belle had met most of the people who usually rushed to and fro in front of her business, and half the people from the surrounding blocks.
She was waiting for Caris, who was going to help her get ready for their Halloween party, the first major holiday the Companion House would be celebrating. Which pushed Belle's mind from all the cloak and dagger stuff she'd been doing the past couple days. |

Belle wandered through the backstreets, whistling softly. New Orleans had recently been hit with a pretty good storm, and the damage was evident. It was nothing like the city she'd grown up in, and the thought that faulty maintenance had ruined her home, her first love, made her very, very annoyed.
But it hadn't really hurt her home, just another version of it. The only piece of her old life here was the man she was going to see, and possibly betray. She sighed, and idly wished for a cigarette, though it would do more harm than good at this point.
At least Remy would have alcohol. You could always count on him to have alcohol.
She eyed the Guildhall, because that's what it really was, and shivered, despite the heat and the humidity. But there were no guilds here, and even if there were, she had no reason to be a part of them anymore.
She knocked loudly, and folded her parasol, waiting. |

Belle collapsed onto the bed, exhausted from the past month or two. She'd been expending so much energy, so constantly, that just laying in bed before midnight was a luxury.
She'd brought a bottle of wine up with her, and some chocolates and the video with Jeanne with her, and was getting things ready while she waited for Alex to join her.
It would be their first night relaxing together in a long time. Marius and Angela had taken the kids to the hotel for the night, to test the facilities and give them time to unwind as well.
She thought back on how quickly everything had come together, and was amazed at how well they had done. |

They'd wound up with a period of time when they couldn't do much in Genosha, so they had decided to start packing up their home and looking into real estate in Genosha. Today they were mostly just hanging out, since it was the first time they'd been together as a family in a couple weeks.
Belle was humming and setting the table while lunch finished heating up. She'd had a craving for grilled cheese, and it usually went over well with the kids, so she'd started up the sandwich press.
The babies were 'helping' by moving the plates around and squabbling about what kind of soup to have. When it got too noisy Belle stepped between them, telling them to go wash their hands so they wouldn't get dirt all over their food. How they managed to get so dirty from being inside all day she had no clue. |

But now the birds were singing, and the children were playing, and it was time for Belle to get up and rescue her husband from their spawn. |

Belle had both the kids in a stroller, and they were happily babbling in a mixture of Creole and English, while Belle smiled and greeted people in French. She was happy to be back in one of the cities she loved, even if it wasn't her home. And seeing the palace again was worth leaving her weapons behind.
The girl became quite excited when she saw the palace, her eyes going wide as she stared. The boy, who had been grumpy all day, continued to be grumpy. Taking what little enthusiasm she could get, Belle smiled and led the kids up to the security check point, trying not to look too guilty.
Who'd have thought that a former assassin would ever be invited to bring her kids to play with the leader of a country? She sincerely hoped this went well, since Philippe seemed a little lonely.
"Bonjour!" She said cheerfully to the guards, telling them who she was and why she was there. |

This was her favorite dress. Alex had bought it for her last Christmas, and she had only worn it a couple times since then. The fit was perfect, and showed off her body wonderfully.
They were going to the fanciest restaurant in town, to enjoy a night alone. The children were spending the evening with one of the girls from the weekly stitch and bitch. The plan was to pick them up on the way home from the restaurant, and hope that they were tired enough to go to sleep quickly when they got back. Luckily, there was a good deal of separation between the master bedroom and the one they'd given the kids, so even if they didn't fall asleep, they would at least be out of earshot.
Probably.
Belle laughed and shook her head. Four years she'd been with Alex. Not married, at least not yet, but it was around this time that they'd first become friends. She smiled at her memories, and gave her make-up one last glance before going to see if Alex was ready. |
