Darius knocked on his uncle's door, adjusting his jacket in his arms. True to his words, he'd come as soon as he could get out of the house, and his hair was still wet as a result.
The outside of the house was nearly pristine, though that didn't mean much. None of them had ever wanted for money, so it was distinctly possible that the person caring for the garden wasn't Alex.
Still, it was something noteworthy that Alex was putting effort into the facade of normality. |

This was possibly the most fun Lorna had ever had. She'd spent the entire week traveling with her boyfriend, visiting all the awesome places they could think of. With her powers, they could go anywhere and see anything, with no worry about the cost.
This particular day their plans were to see the grand canyon at sunrise, and then travel some, and camp during the night. It was, in her humble opinion, a very good plan.
Except for the fact that she was going to be doing all of this without any caffeine until they actually got to the Grand Canyon. But that was okay! Really! |

It had been a good week. After the whole time travel thing, they'd both been too exhausted to do much. Lorna had been sleeping for twelve hours at a time, and eating ravenously when she was awake. But, on the other hand, it was their first full week of summer break, and it gave them a lot of time to be together, which more than made up for the fatigue.
But finally, Lorna felt fully rested again, and so she was sitting at her computer, trolling Google maps, looking for interesting places to visit for their vacation. |

Lorna looked through her dorm one last time, checking that she had everything packed. She knew she did, but she was nervous. Not about moving, so much, but about the change it would bring. She would have a longer commute to both school and work, and would be paying more in gas money if she didn't start flying more often.
Not that it was nearly enough reason to rethink what she was doing. She loved Alex, and wanted to be with him more than anything else in the world. Change was just a little scary, and she wasn't sure that she was ready for it.

This was the day! Alex was going to be staying in the dorm with her, and they were going to go look for an apartment together over her break. She was excited, and nervous, but mostly excited. The little bit of time they'd had together since the dinner where she'd fucked everything up (as she called it in her head), hadn't let them get much done beside planning this trip, as much as Lorna had wished otherwise.
Well, she trusted him, and hoped that she could keep herself from having a panic attack that would seem to be over something it wasn't. Which didn't even make much sense in her own head, but she'd discovered an innate talent for screwing things up that she hadn't otherwise known about. Maybe this place was just getting to her. She had no way to know.
Either way, she was nervous and excited as she waited at the portkey, coffee for two sitting in a pair of cups next to her. |
